Free SIM card for Internet of Shit (IOT) devices

Free SIM card for Internet of Shit (IOT) devices.

I saw this on hackday, they give you a free SIM and 1MB/Month free data usage, its not much but for telemetry or whatever it might just be what you are looking for.

oh nice
this'd be perfect for my friends' GPS tracking side business, they just need a tiny amount of mobile data

Could it be used for a basic phone? Ive got a razr I'd like to keep around as more than just an emergency phone.

oh cool i was looking for an easy way for NSA to track even more of my shit

Im about to start experimenting with a mobile linux distro on a knockoff chink phone so I'd really like to know myself. It sounds like for what I plan it would be enough to develop with, but only at a bare minimum if I cant make a call

well too bad that their service seems to be super expensive though.
Also I have nothing to do with that shit even though it sounds pretty need

>free
>$7.50 shipping
how do they come up with these shipping charges? It's $1.00 for some stamps and an envelope

even with the code it still asks for $6.50 for the cheapest shipping option

yea, no I need this.
Thanks for letting us know

Would it work in America?

>Wat? SIMs at $0!?
/thread

worked for me, maybe they don't ship freely everywhere

Because they have to pay somebody to grab shit off the shelf and put it in the envelope

are you a bong?

I feel like they are charging burgers shipping or something. It was $0.00 until I put in my address

it looks like it's data-only
you could still 'call' someone using it via skype or whatever though, as that's just data

i'm in australia

...

0$ for me in the US after the code. I don't know what I even plan to do with this thing.

Worked fine for me too.

I'm in Brazil, if that matters

you're welcome, Igor Philippini
(ps. don't use a soft eraser to hide details, they don't always completely erase pixels)

Oh shit, just noticed it, I used pinta's brush.
Well, thanks for the tip user

lmao what a faggot

Fyi, that name is not that unique, and I also don't use that surname usually on the internet

>the face of Sup Forums

SIM cards are usually free anyways, or else very cheap assuming you don't buy them at walmart where they'll try to jew you into buying a bundle with other useless bullshit

the SIMs are usually cheap, but i'm not aware of any other free /plans/

Did y'all not watch Kingsmen?

who?

Nope, explain?

It's a movie. Samuel L Jackson gives the whole world free internet but at the climax of the movie it's revealed the sim cards are going to hack everybody's phone and turn them super enraged and it's up to Taron Egerton to stop him.

>1MB/month
no you cant

or just dont use a lossless format like png with layer support

1MB/mo won't get you much for VOIP, but they have other plans as well, charged by the KB
if you use a lot of data this might not be cost-effective though

the cheapest plan i'm aware of here is $10/mo, that's more expensive if you only need a handful of MB/mo

png doesn't support layers, and it being lossless isn't the issue

why even have a feature for removing things from the image if it does not actually remove anything? sounds like something that nsa would do.

he used a soft brush, it's not designed to be a "hide things" tool

If the shit is free, you are the product. Common sense 101

>1MB/Month

nah it's just a promo offer getting you to sign up with them
so that when you discover that a mb does jack shit
you're gonna stick with them and pay for more data instead of shopping around to actually find the best offer for your needs

i can have my gps trackers send out coordinates every 170 seconds within 1MB/mo
there's a lot of small things you can do with minimal bandwidth

enough to send 1kb each hour

what country is the operator in? wont be cheap if its always on some roaming network.

the pricing is divided into two zones, with a bunch of countries in each
hologram.io/pricing/details/

sounds shady
what's the catch?

1mb is a lot for IoT stuff

You can actually fit gps coordinates in 6 bytes, let's say your data package is 7 bytes due to tcp overhead:
7*60*24*30 =~300kb/month (with an update every minute).
You could make it even smaller if you used deltas for each update.

~32/day, ~1,3kb/hour, yes

Looks like they cover that for us, you don't need to worry about any extra fees

is it 1mb data and then nothing or 1mb data and then dialup speeds (aka throttled) because even 8kb/s is enough for some things

i'm going off raw packet size of the trackers i currently have, they don't really try to use minimal packets

I get 100MB/Month for free

where/who?

Germany/Netzclub

1MB is plenty for the iot horseshit, but of course the "developers" of said horseshit will make it so you pass hundreds of MB easily with lots of stupid bullshit being sent over the network

It's pretty expensive after the first mb.

Probably nothing if you don't pay the extra fees.

Oh
Neat

>werbefinanziert
fuck you for supporting such a retarded business model

Just ordered one because I want this for a phone that is been sitting in my closet for 3 years

It's just for cs smurf account and I used a trash mail so I never get advertisement

My exact thoughts when I saw this

For GPS or VoIP that's a godsend, who cares the sim card gets ad shit per SMS.

lmao

he seems like a cool dude imo
would be friends with/10

enjoy your 1MB/month

Seems like a real senpai. do u like dicks user?

>i'm not aware of any other free /plans/
freedompop gives away 500 minutes and 1gb data/month for free. you have to pay for the SIM and to turn off auto renew though. and they use some shitty VOIP app for calls/SMS.

haha four eyes nerde

anything in australia?
i can't even imagine needing more than 1GB/mo on a cellphone

no it is US only afaik. also the 1gb/month counts against your data because VOIP if you're not on wifi.

You need to create an account, go to your dashboard and apply the promo code. It wanted me to pay untill I created an account and applied it. In US

it says that on the order page

...

Yep, same here. Did what said

>1MB/Month
What can I do with that? Should I order one for each family member and just mesh together a big clusterfuck to get more data?

Also, thanks OP.

>go to dashboard
>User has already applied this code
>cart empty

It's meant for IoT stuff, not regular usage with a smartphone

It's for IoT devices, not for you to stream 10-bit encoded loli porn on your phone.

in germany you can buy ja! mobil prepaid sims that you can register with bullshit data for... 5€? with 5€ in prepaid shit on it. You can activate a free internet option on it that limits you to like 200kbit/s or something, but it works all over europe and is literally free.
