A) The volume overlay is terrible, and has been remedied as of iOS 11. I would know, I’m running the beta, it’s great.
B) I’m not sure what significance that background is supposed to have, but if it’s “real” (and I use the term guardedly), it’s nothing more than a scam page designed to trick you into clicking ‘Install’ like a retard, because that’s just about the only way anything can do you any real harm on iOS: by tricking you into giving it permission. Some of these scam pages can’t be closed, but the simple solution to that is to clear Safari’s data (browsing history, cookies, cache — not bookmarks, saved passwords, and other valuable personal data), which clears all open tabs.
I have only ever seen the iOS thermal warning occur on severely defective devices and/or those that were left in direct sunlight on hot days or in other extremely hot conditions. Maybe you like your devices experiencing damaging thermal runaway events because of a lack of any safeguards, but I’ll take the thermal warning, thank you very much.

Even assuming it was combustion on the part of the device that started the fire (it almost certainly wasn’t, based on the facts of the case), the combustion still only caused the crash because of improper behavior on the part of the pilot that violated established safety regulations.
