Why do people buy phones with no 3.5mm port?

Why do people buy phones with no 3.5mm port?

It's like we're regressing back to 2005 were we all need dongles and adapters just for basic functionality again. What the fuck is going on?

For the average person, bluetooth is maybe ok?

It might push me to buy a DAP though. On the bright side I'd save battery.

>He doesn't want his porn audio being sent throughout his entire house on radio waves

>Why do people buy phones with no 3.5mm port?
I don't.
So don't you.

I use Bluetooth but not as often because it has the inconvenience of needing to be charged. Most Bluetooth earphones will last only 3-5 hours.

I don't either but the available choices are becoming unfortunately limited.

Honestly wouldn't the best phones have no opening at all? Phones and computers should be blank slate you add only what you want to and nothing you don't, that you update only the software, hardware used with it.
BT is efficient and cheap now,

That's your very personal idea, also Bluetooth is neither efficient nor cheap.
I would have to pay at least 100€ to have the same quality of my 25€ iems

I dunno, I just use a tiny dongle that came with my phone and wala, a 3.5mm port.

USB c can send audio in a digital or analog form. You can use the onboard dac or an external dac.

Removing the port allows for cost cutting and more space inside the phone

Making everything wireless is a good idea. It pushes the philosophy of being able to use any device with your device without being restricred by availability of certain ports.

Essentially ports are wasted space when they're not being used, and it makes more sense to have one universal port than two of them

portfags are the worst kind of scum

But I thought we passed the point of needing dongles? At least we did after flip/slide phones stopped being a thing.

It's just a one-inch extension of your headphone cord. What is the big deal?

>he thinks all wireless devices can connect

3,5mm standard is one of the greatest port standards there is so fuck you dongle fucking dongles.

Usually it doesn't let to charge the phoneand listen through headphones. Also, you can just forget it.

i dont. my phone is 4y old and it has an 3.5mm port and i will use it as long as it works.

does bluetooth have any kind of encryption? can i hear other peoples shitty music if i have some capturing device for bluetooth?

I haven't used the 3.5mm port on my phone in years, I don't care about it even a tiny bit. I don't like this trend because of their reasons though, I don't need my phone to be fucking paper thing. Just put a bigger battery in their and don't cram everything into a tiny space so it's easier to repair. How fucking hard is it to get a phone that puts function over form?

Voila, ameritard, voila.

>he thinks all wireless devices can connect
I didn't say that.
>3,5mm standard is one of the greatest port standards there
It is. But having no ports at all is better.

>Usually it doesn't let to charge the phoneand listen through headphones
Why are you listening to music on a headphone and through your mobile phone when you are home charging it?

>How fucking hard is it to get a phone that puts function over form?
Actually, modern tech is too much about function only. I mean, what was the last time you've seen an interesting looking phone or a laptop? They all are pretty much the same because of the certain function standarts. Planned obsolesence and not having an ability to repair your tech had less to do with form then with business strategy.

The big deal is that it was built into every phone up till a year ago and completely unnecessary.

It also sucks to use in your pocket. Sucks to use while jogging. Sucks that you can't charge and use headphones at the same time. Sucks that it's small, easy to lose, and easy to break. Sucks that technologically it's a step backwards.

>It also sucks to use in your pocket. Sucks to use while jogging.
It's literally just as inconvenient or convenient as a regular cord.

>Sucks that you can't charge and use headphones at the same time
Phones last longer than 2 hours now. At least if you are not using Poodroid poorphone.

why are you using a phone at all?

OK. I could actually live with literally anything else they do if they just made fucking batteries bigger. How hard would it be to put a 6000mAH battery in a phone? Especially with the size of some of the XL models being released these days. I just want my phone to survive 16 hours of heavy use, is that really so much to ask?

I'm definitely not using a phone to listen to music when I'm home and surrounded by devices far more suited for that.

Have you tried looking?

>Poodroid poorphone
You do realize the Xiaomi Redmi series absolutely rapes iPhone in battery life in every single way.
Idiot.

Oukitel did, my dad has a k6000 pro and it's fucking neat.

>Phones last longer than 2 hours now. At least if you are not using Poodroid poorphone.
Are you actually joking or just a genuinely dumb iFag? The battery is one of the things that most Android phones are unquestionably better than iPhones on. I mean, most good Android phones are better than iPhones at most stuff, but this is the one that's easily provable that even an idiot like you can't deny.

I would love a waterproof phone with wireless charging and BT for everything else, but BT is expensive and shit.

Fuck off newfag

>Oukitel did, my dad has a k6000 pro and it's fucking neat.
I bought a chinkphone last year, never again. My RN3P completely died after 6 months, I'm now using my Nexus 6 again which isn't really up to scratch any more, just waiting for the Pixel 2 XL to drop .

Get a soldering iron

Most phones are now pretty much waterproof, although they don't advertise it. Are there any flagships released in the last few years that don't have Qi charging, besides gimpy iPhones of course.

pros of no 3.5mm port
>thinner phone
>one fewer point of failure/ exposure

drawbacks
>can't listen to music in extremely rare use cases that should never arise unless you are retarded or too poor to afford anything else after paying for your phone

>thinner
>pro
?

Are there any good modern music players?

Sorry to hear that. I got a Zuk Z2 Pro and my dad got the k6000 pro, both have been good for almost a year each.

Who listens to music on their phone so much that they really care about this? If listening to music is important to you get a dedicated music player, just like you should get a dedicated camera if you take lots of pictures.

Faggots like you are literally ruining the future of phones. Stop demanding so many fucking features.

>Phone has 128GB storage and DAC
>Buys a separate device just for listening to music

Sony ericsons were goat

>phone doesn't include features that are unnecessary for 99% of users
>now costs less
>users who want those things can buy a specialist phone with them or a dedicated device
Gee, that was easy.

you've just changed the standard you fuck up.

Now everything must use the same wireless protocol, right now we have at least:
Wi-fi direct
Bluetooth < 4.0
Bluetooth > 4.0
Wifi ad
Wifi ac/n
Wifi n/g
Qi charging
PMA charging
4G (with at least 30 bands)
3G (GSM/CDMA)

whereas for physical connectors you have four

micro USB
USB C
Lightning
3.5mm jack

physical ports can be adapted too, wireless ones can't.

>now costs less
For the company, but not the consumer...

>Remove stuff, make it cheap as fuck to manufacture!
>Make consumers think it's the hippest thing evah!
>Charge moar!

That's not how economics works.

But that's exactly how business works.

>some other company does the same thing, but actually passes the savings on to the consumer
>people start buying from them
>other companies are forced to follow the trend

>Implying the majority of people don't use their phones to listen to music
What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you live in your own little world?

Smartphones have replaced so many devices, including portable Media devices.

That's not how it works especially in phone markets. Unless you live in some third world shithole, people buy the phones they want, not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but the one that appeals to them in some way or form. In this specific case, other companies would hurt themselves more buy removing the jack port, but apple has so brain dead people already buying from them so it doesn't matter.

The latency in Bluetooth audio is still horrific

Why are you using portable media devices at home?

Sheeple will buy with they're told to buy, people don't know what they want, etc. etc.

so? Just another brick with a gimmick on the back? It hasn't got any distinctive feature that would make it look different from thousands other bricks.

My phones 3.5mm port broke, so I just use a Bluetooth adapter.

It's not that bad. I wouldn't buy a phone without it because it does suck having the battery run dead. Also my phone has fm radio which doesn't work without a 3.5mm jack for the antenna :(

Other issue is I do get interference when I'm walking downtown, just gotta keep it close to my phone. Maybe it's just my bt dongle is crappy. Apow from Amazon.

If I really wanted I could use a USB DAC which I do at home if I plug my phone into the stereo.

I don't see the 3.5mm jack going anywhere. Apple folks have dealt with inconvience constantly (iTunes, special charging cable, no flash, no sdcard, etc). So I don't see it a big deal for those folks. Android users won't go down that avenue

>muh flash
Stop holding technology back, pajeet.

Chinkphones have most of the features of more expensive western counterparts, at least 99% of the same practical processing power, and orders of magnitude smaller prices. I had a RN3P for 6 months before it broke. The main issue for me was the fact that it was so cheaply made. I could actually buy a new one every 6 months and it would still be way cheaper than a flagship.

What are you talking about? The OP5 is an excellent phone, still has 3.5mm. So to do the flagship Samsungs and LGs.
The only phone dropping it that I know of is the pixel 2 and even that is unconfirmed.

Yes Bluetooth does have encryption, that's the point of pairing.

I thought we were talking about the lack of design in modern tech. Not about what a great deal chinkphones are.

I want a phone with e-ink display with messenger capability and a lot of battery time.
There is none.

We were but you questioned what the point of buying a chinkphone is so I told you. The gimmick is probably pointless to you, me, and most people, I'd only buy that phone if most of the core features appealed to me, any gimmicks would be completely take it or leave it.

Moto Z lost it and so did HTCs current flagship

there is no demand. people want phones to play video and play games.

not all of the people are the same as your little sister. People demand a lot from their phones - they use maps, browse web, use two cameras, make notes...sometimes they even phone to somebody.
But you right - there is no demand for a phone with a monochrome screen.

If Ford would have asked the people what they want, they would have demanded faster horses, not cars.

sorry I read your sentence like "people want phones ONLY for videos and games".

No they wouldn't.

My experience with people tells otherwise.

>My experience with people
This is how I know you are lying.

Yeah. Its not like people get emotionally attached to technology and want to improve that tech over getting something new even if the new tech is much more efficient. Thus,pr was born.

>regressing
2005 era phones were so much better than anything they make today.

that means everyone is like that, doesn't it?

> Why use a laptop around the house instead of limiting yourself to a desktop
Convenience.

Right. It doesn't have a screen on the back, it's not the only Helio X30 phone, it's not brushed metal. No features that make it stand out whatsoever.

>Recycled design from Apple
>Jelly screen
>Stock room has poor security
It's not bad for the price to be honest but it's just not for me. Currently waiting to toss it up between the Meizu Pro 7/ plus and the Nokia 8.

Considering most phones have built in hardware for music I don't see the benefit of wasting your space at home with stupid inferior audiophile placebo shit

I don't get any jelly scrolling on mine and even so you can always flash a custom ROM if you don't like Oxygen.
Every phone is just a black plastic rectangle anyway, I'd hardly call that a recycled apple design unless you're an apple lawyer from 2011

>> wtf is going on

Capitalism

>I don't see the benefit of wasting your space at home with stupid inferior audiophile placebo shit
Poorfags, everyone.

You're just assmad that you have to suffer mobile speakers as a primary music playback device

>Not having a comfy 5.1 channel surround system in your bedroom that you can just hook your phone up to
You're retarded.
