When a country doesn't use the metric system and celsius/kelvin for temp

>when a country doesn't use the metric system and celsius/kelvin for temp

Being an engineer has made me realize the utter uselessness of the imperial system

>work with control systems installed in large industries
>had to install a separate module just to convert literally everything from real units to Ameridumb units
>mfw American engineers (for whom the product is designed for) evidently use the imperial values in their industry

chemical engineering student here , i fk hate imperial units its a waste of time
fug americans

As far as i know only Americans don't use those. Does Cucknada also not use them?

>America
>No

America, Liberia and Myanmar

three countries on the planet

I am the NASA, and I approve of this message.

Canadians use a strange mix of both. Well, in Québec, at least.

>pound per square inch
i seriously just cant understand like holy shit

in 30 years everyone will use imperial

Literally every American I've worked with has used metric.

t. Scientist.

Care to explain why? Oh wait, I already know your argument.

>0 degrees fahrenheit
>really cold
>100 degrees fahrenheit
>really hot

>0 degrees celsius
>really cold
>100 degrees celsius
>dead

Your anecdote isn't useful for banter purposes so it's just going to be ignored.

WELL HOLY SMOKES HE WIGHTS 400 POONS AND IS SIX ARMS LENGHTS TALL.

ps. people arm lenght may vary, please don't sue us Shillington®

US Customary isn't the same thing as Imperial. There's some differences.

But in any case, it's still pretty dumb and I wish we'd get rid of it.

God told us he didn't want us to use the same units so we can't build the tower
Americans are the only ones who listen. Enjoy God's wrath, rest of the world.

Not him, but that's honestly why I prefer Fahrenheit. I'll admit however, that it is retarded to base a temperature scale on the freezing point of brine instead of normal water.
If celsius just had a broader scale that wasn't limited to 0-50 for most practical purposes, I'd probably prefer it.

NASA's metric confusion caused 125 million USD Mars orbiter loss
>NASA lost a $125 million Mars orbiter because one engineering team used metric units while another used English units for a key spacecraft operation ...

American Engineers .....................

I like metric, but Celsius can fuck off for anything that isn't chemistry.

how about u fuck off chimp

How about you go kill yourself, Mr. Least relevant Baltic country.

ew a chimp, go suck on a banana

Ew, a Latvian. Go find a flag that isn't a shameless ripoff of Austria's.

Why would he do that though

He has a sense of humor and Americans are gullible.

>inches of mercury (inHg instead of mmHg)
>pounds per square inch
>1 mile = 5280 feet
>1 yard = 3 feet (what's the point?)
>1 ton = 2240 pounds

I hate this system.

This, as engineering student, I always lose stupid amounts of time making conversions, just because tables made with imperial units

dumb frogposters

> using a wholly arbitrary system that has no relation to the actual users
> “But… but you can divide by 10!”

Being a machinist has made me realize the utter uselessness of engineers...

special snowflakes

THANKS VAPE APE!

>Kelvin

Shut up dork

Yeah, engineer here with some machining experience. I'm surprised by how clueless many of my colleagues actually are.

Keep doing God's work, machinanon!

proxy?

We use metric and Celsius, but due to our Brit roots and proximity to America we are equally versed in imperial.
I don't have to convert, I grew up knowing both.
We do sometimes give distances in miles, and human height in feet and inches, but that's in Australia and UK too.

>when somebody uses redditfrog outside of reddit

You can leave anytime :)

I went to uni in the states, majored on biology. All the people use imperial day to day, but in my experience all science and engineering are done in metric. 100% of the measurements in biology, chemistry, physics, etc, was metric.

Using both is even more retarded than using only the imperial system. You know that the metric system is superior, so using the inferior one from time to time as well makes you the ultimate cuck.

Didn't one of the Mars probes blow up because of a metric vs. imperial conversion error?

0 degrees Celsius is not really cold.

I don't think you people understand just how massively autistic you sound, when you try to tell people from other countries how to live their day to day lives.

>the current year
>different country
>globalization
>usage of medieval measuring units
>autistic

What does a Machinist do?
How does one get into it as a career?
What are the job prospects like?

A machinist builds parts for machines and also tooling for machines. They also build other stuff.

What's up with Myanmar?

It's a shithole that was under military dictatorship until recently. They've probably had more important things to consider than changing to metric.

Is there a lot of demand for it as a job?

Who would win in a war?

>german thinks he can take me on in a fight

Come at me bro, I could fuck your bitch ass up.

Liberia obviously.

It's a somewhat in demand job. Training is standard for trade - a few years in an apprenticeship and then eventually you get to do shit by yourself. The pay is roughly comparable to other trades.

Thanks for the info.

Considering a trade, currently saving money for schooling.

US Customary/Imperial is better for everyday things

Metric is better for science

Any other opinion is wrong.

Hey, at least here, you are a pretty shitty engineer if you don't know some about machining
