It's not uncommon to see japs working 10 hours a day just to make a decent living. The education system is incredibly stressful, also. A sizable chunk of them isolate themselves from the rest of Japanese society since they fail to meet its high expectations. It's a good place for travel, but living there's another story

It is a social taboo to go to a psychiatrist to seek treatment in East Asia. Ppl will immediately view you as a mental just by seeing a psychiatrist for treatment for depression or ADHD and you won't get a job and all your life is fucked.
If they cannot be treated with drug and shit, it is natural that they will eventually have consequence for not fixing problems.
Not sure about Japan but, in SK, locking children with disability in basement for life because of family shame and shit is still common.

I can vouch for this, kind of. A while back I did some research on going over to SK to teach English. I'm on antidepressants, and what I found is that I'd have to essentially commit visa fraud and lie that I've never had any psychiatric issues. They might even make you take a drug test, I'm not sure. It's also difficult to get psychiatric meds there, so basically, if you're already on antidepressants you can forget about going to work in SK.

Psychiatrist are really incompetent though, I went once and she literally just suggested I be myself

Mine told me that too, kek. Other than that he was good and I kept seeing him until I graduated university. Now as long as I can just keep getting happy pill refills through my GP I don't have to see anyone.

Because of depression. Imagine that your whole life is scheduled year by year. You're going to school, then to the college and university, then you become a salaryman. You're sleeping in the train on the way to work, eat the same bentos from day to day, your work is boring and the payment isn't that satisfying. You have to marry another boring girl (even though all your life you wanted a funny and interesting wife with 90-60-90).
The main ways of entertainment are having booze at clubs and bars, singing karaoke with your colleagues, play games, read some shitty manga (if you're a manchild, who is subscribed for something like Shonen Jump).
And then something goes wrong. For example, you loose your job. You think that your life is falling to bits. And the only one you're taught to blame is yourself. You couldn't satisfy the requirements of your boss, you're a bad worker, etc.


At least that's what I think.
Tl;dr Life of a salaryman is boring and full of hard work and scheduled fun (which is no fun after several years)

So, if you ask me, I'm very glad I left that fucking country. It can be a beautiful experience if you're an upper class citizen, but the middle class is fucked, and the lower class are basically dirt that Japan tries to hide everyday.
