>The Polish Crown declined to raise funds for defence, although Great Hetman of Lithuania Chodkiewicz promised to pay out army wages from his own fortune, thereby gathering at least some army. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth army under Jan Karol Chodkiewicz was composed of roughly 1,000 infantry and 2,600 cavalry[1]:64 and only five cannons. However, the Polish-Lithuanian forces were well-rested and their cavalry consisted mostly of superbly trained Winged Hussars or heavy cavalry armed with lances, while the Swedish cavalry were less-well trained, armed with pistols and carbines, on poorer horses, and tired after a long night's march over 10 km in torrential rain.[1]:65 Most of the hussars were from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, about 200 were from the Polish Crown, most of them mercenaries or close personal allies of Chodkiewicz.

>deny funds for defense
>claim it was Poles anyway

the eternal pole

So you might as well say it was just Lithuania then

Funny you say that, because without us you'd probably be destroyed by the Swedes. You're such a useless and boot-licking nation that you betrayed your only ally.

>yfw the Deluge was declared a polish pyrrhic victory ON THEIR OWN SOIL

Lithuania usually did all the fighting while the Polacks wanked in their tents, and yet, to this day, they still think they're above us. How pathetic.

Your country has no achievements on it's own.

Aye.

>“According to one contemporary source “Carolomachia” cavalry went on attack with the Lithuanian battlecry, “Mušk!” (approximate English translation would be “strike” or “beat”)”

That's why our hussars are known and no one can name even one iconic lithuanian warrior right?

Most of yours are thanks to us, you filthy bydlo fuck.

Copernicus and Marie Curie owed so much to shituanians right? Get a grip your country is a worthless piece of shit and even today you managed to be even poorer than us.

>Pole posts a battle where Lithuanian Hetman paid from his own money for the army when Polish crown refused to give money for the army
really makes you think

...

hussars are a meme though, read a book

How are they a meme?

>Sweden 10,868 vs. Poland-Lithuania 3,600
>Sweden 7600-8000 killed
>Poland-Lithuania 100 killed
Explain this Sweden and no, Mercenaries are not fault at this.

>poorer
Type in GDP per capita of Lithuania, and the of Poland. You fuckers think you're rich? You suck dick for pennies on the streets of Vilnius.

>Copernicus and Marie Curie
Oh wow, so you have a few people the world knows, big whoop. We have athletes that the world knows, can't say the same about you.

they went to hide in their sheds instead of fighting, just like in modern times

kek
1 fucking EXPEDITIONAL tumen btfo """""brave knights"""""

Army was tired and less trained, while the polish-lithuanians were well-rested and elite.

This has happened a lot in history.

And what were you doing when you lost a third of your population? In your shed hiding.

>Army was tired and less trained, while the polish-lithuanians were well-rested and elite.
Proof?

Will the HRE ever recover?

...

>Mieszko II the Fat
>More like Mieszko the first American

The Deluge was a Swedish invasion in Poland-Lithuania. When an invasion goes on for a long time your supply-lines wither, the enemy has quicker access to supplies and troops. This happens.

it can be also on int since its about countries

well the wings are a meme

Athletes like who?

Jan Pawel II, Olympic Gold in kiddy fiddling

That's not true either.

>tactical

yes it is, no soldier wore them on their armor, and thats a prevalent meme

Source would be nice.

Zdzisław żygulski describes how hussar armor with wings was most likely only used on parades and the confusion stemmed from the wing being actually mounted on a horse

read one of his books on polish armament, i'm sure you'll find a chapter on this

>most likely

that's not convincing at all I remember when people said ''horned helmets were impractical and propably weren't used!''

yet pic related happened

shameless bump for replies

Yeah...
That battle wasn't even part of the Deluge you idiot.

>The official name of the state was The Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Polish: Królestwo Polskie i Wielkie Księstwo Litewskie, Lithuanian: Lenkijos Karalystė ir Lietuvos Didžioji Kunigaikštystė, Ukrainian: Кopoлiвcтвo Пoльcькe тa Beли́кe князíвcтвo Литóвcькe Korolivstvo Polśke ta Vełyke Kniazivstvo Łytovśke, Belarusian: Кapaлeўcтвa Пoльcкae i Bялiкae Княcтвa Лiтoўcкae Karalieŭstva Polskaje i Vialikaje Kniastva Litoŭskaje). Prior to the 17th century, international treaties and diplomatic texts referred to it by its Latin name Regnum Poloniae Magnusque Ducatus Lithuaniae. In the 17th century and later it was usually known as the Most Serene Commonwealth of Poland (Polish: Najjaśniejsza Rzeczpospolita Polska, Latin: Serenissima Res Publica Poloniae),[30] the Commonwealth of the Polish Kingdom,[31] or the Commonwealth of Poland.[32] The country was also known as the Kingdom of Poland, or just Poland.[33][34] Its inhabitants referred to it in everyday speech as the "Rzeczpospolita" (Ruthenian: Pѣч Пocпoлитa Rech Pospolita, Lithuanian: Žečpospolita). Western Europeans often simply called it Poland. The terms: the Commonwealth of Poland and the Commonwealth of Two Nations (Polish: Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów, Latin: Res Publica Utriusque Nationis) were used in the Reciprocal Guarantee of Two Nations.[35] In historiography referred to also as the Republic of Nobles (Polish: Rzeczpospolita szlachecka) and the First Commonwealth (Polish: I Rzeczpospolita).

The Hussars were mostly composed of Polish nobles, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was mostly Polish in form and function, while only being Lithuanian in it's official name.

>Being proud of stealing art and wondrous objects instead of creating it by yourself

They still won,counts for something.

>Oh wow, so you have a few people the world knows

They have one of the highest number of Nobel laureates ?

Well, they have defeated you in the end, even though it took them a bloody long time to assemble a competent army.
