Plan a trip to Hungary for 3 days

>Plan a trip to Hungary for 3 days
>Arrive to the capital, hungry as fuck
>Sit at the table right nex to the bar
>Order a pizza for 2000 HUF
>Get stuffed full, leave last slice for a bit later
>Waitress snatches my dishes and last slice of pizza almost from my hands and turns her back on my in split second
>Shrug and wait for the bill
>Pizza 2000 HUF + something 500 HUF
>wat.jpg
>Call her over and ask her if she speaks English
>"No"
>ask her if she speaks German
>"Yes"
>Ask her what the fuck is this
>Ask her why I'm being charged with 2500 HUF while the pricetag is 2000
>She can't muster a word in German
>Call over the male waiter and repeat it
>Explains that serving is extra charge
>wat.jpg
>After a few seconds starts scratching the price and writes a new one
>"this is mine, but you don't have to pay"
>"this is tip"
>"but you dont have to pay"
>laugh it off and leave him his precious tip
>well deserved tip for carrying my pizza for 5 steps and removing my last slice without asking

In Croatia, we survive mostly because of tourism. Yet I promise you, you won't find ONE fucking bar or a restoraunt where tipping is a thing. If a hamburger is 20 Croatian kunas, you pay 20 fucking Croatian kunas. The server gets paid by his employer.

So tell me, Sup Forums. What other countries have this cancerous system? I thought only Americans were this stupid, but I didn't expect it from my fellow nazi neighbour.

You aren't required to tip in America its just custom to. If you don't want to you don't have to, although its rude unless your service was bad

>turkoslav calling itself nazi

your brown skin cost you that

Does your insult include the tip or?

They only do this with foreigners though. They think they are all very rich and don't care about getting ripped off enough to bother. Also it doesn't happen everywhere but it's quite frequent. As a rule of thumb, avoid the places that have someone standing outside inviting people in only in English. These places usually serve traditional Hungarian stuff.

The sad thing is I believe you. A lot of hyenas try to rip off tourists in Budapest. Hence it should be avoided at all costs, what with it being a fucking shithole.

Next time tell them you'll call the police and report them for fraud, they'll instantly change their attitude.

Is tipping a thing only around the capital?
The day before I paid for coffe and waited to get the bill and the change since I gave the waiter

>Water not served with caffeine
>Ask for water, get WARM bottled water
>Ask for internet password, get excuses
>Never get the bill unless I demand it.
>No waiter knows German or English

Racing out of Hungary I stopped at Nagykanizsa which had no tipping and had atleast 5 open internet hotspots. And imagine, almost everyone spoke English, German and even a bit Croatian.

>The day before I paid for coffe and waited to get the bill and the change since I gave the waiter too much money. Its not untill I asked for the change directly, he gave it to me. Did he expect that that was his tip?*

Fix'd, forgot to finish the sentence.

top kek

I'd say the most outrageous tourist robbing places exist in the capital and around lake Balaton. These establishments will get enough customers even if no individual one ever returns. The standard tip is 10%, it's not quasi-obligatory like in the US but it's nice to pay it if you had satisfying table service. I don't know what you mean that you don't get the bill unless you demand it, is this not the case everywhere? Or do you mean that you don't get a printed proper bill when you want to pay? Because that's a criminal offense not to give you one.

>Or do you mean that you don't get a printed proper bill when you want to pay? Because that's a criminal offense not to give you one.

Exactly this. No cafee shop or restoraunt would hand me the bill. I'd have no idea I'd been paying for their tips if I didn't ask for the reciept.

>2500 HUF
wtf why even care?

>2500 vs 2000 HUF is a big deal for a serb
>mfw

Because I'm not paying miss-i-speak-german-but-i-can't-muster-a-word that expects me to reward her for carrying my order for 2 meters and taking my dish away without asking me. I bet these practices are there because there will always be people dumb like you to just throw away your money.

Fuck those places. If you recorded that with a camera I think you could sue them for that but I'm not at all sure. It's probably not worth the hassle anyway. Sorry to hear about your negative experience with our country, I hope you enjoyed your time here regardless.

>The standard tip is 10%, it's not quasi-obligatory like in the US but it's nice to pay it if you had satisfying table service.

No. You should never ever pay tip. Waiters get their salary from their boss as it should be. If they want more money, they can go and ask for a fucking raise like everybody else.

You can come to Spain, we don't have that shit. Avoid overpriced places for stupid tourists and everything will be fine.

was she qt?

I'm dissapointed with the capital, but I did have a good time in a certain restoraunt. The waiter was a chill dude who spoke 10/10 English and and entrusted him to choosefor me one of the best Hungarian beers and I loved it, along with the food. I'm strongly against tipping, but hell I'd tip that dude twice if I knew it in advance.

This happens everywhere. Usually the restaurants/cafes near to a turist hotspot are shit and fucking expensive.

I went to croatia last summer.
Went to a restaurant and ordered a dish for 74 kunos
the waiter gave me back a 100 kunos
lmao

Meh Budapest is all right, people are nice, food is awesome and I had no prob running around with 500eu in HUF around the west end city centre buying whatever I wanted without anyone trying to rip me off.

Comó puede ser verdad...

Last night I fell in love with some Pedro

It all seems like yesterday not far away

75 is nothing if going to restaurant lol

Compulsory service fees are not a thing in Hungary, they ripped you off because you're a foreigner and Hungarian restaurant owners are slimy thieving fucks.

What's the name of the place?
I feel it's review time.

How big was da bizza?

Don't they know Croatia is a poor shithole? They couldn't tell OP isn't white?

Bretty big, the price was almost the same as in Croatia. Food was good, but the service was terrible.

You were scammed.
There are some places, where they include tip in the bill, but then it's usually only 10%, not 25%. This isn't a common practise whatsoever btw.
You managed to pick a dodgy place, bad luck.

I would never pay more for a fucking pizza, dumb cuckholm fag.

Why is Vienna in Czechia?

Are you dense? Tax evading is Hungarian national sport, do you live under a rock?

70-80 kr is standard for pizza

I'm from the southeast, so keep your shit-tier pizza faggot

Then you've learnt your lesson the hard way, maybe next time you will be willing to ask for some advice from us.

Could've been so much worse. There are places where they charge 3-4x the usual from foreigners.

i can get pizza for 30kn in my town thats some 38kr lel

We're not particularly white either, my Somali friend.

A lot of Hungarians who speak a few sentences of a language already consider themselves being able to speak that language because compared to the majority who don't speak a goddamn sentence, they already have something to brag about. Often their bosses will speak even less, so they don't know or care that they hired a retard.

If you want beer to the pizza it will cost 65kr :^)

>southeast
wut?

fuck off, according to genetics 90% of hungarian males are direct descendents of 12 Europeans who lived here 3000, 10000, and 20000 years ago.

not too bad still
>beer costs almost as much as the pizza
damn

WE

Are you retarded?

Such is life in soviet republic of Sverige

Feel free to google it Sven. The original Hungarians who came in the 800's were asian genetically, but they died off, and by 1000 A.D. Hungary was entirely populated by Europeans - who now spoke a meme language.

You're in no position to laugh, Sven... or should I say Mehmet?

>lets pull bullshit numbers out of our arse the post
Statistically you have a 100% chance to have a common ancestor with everybody on the planet if you go back 20,000 years

>Compulsory service fees are not a thing in Hungary
Yes, they are at some restaurants.

Closet to that would be this, what do you think? youtube.com/watch?v=LShtN_HyHtY

Polish beer is cheap, but you can also buy swedish beer without the tax from hell

t. hiéna

kurva anyád

holy shit

>Order a pizza for 2000 HUF
I never in my life had a 2000 HUF pizza.

?
I just stated the facts, chill out Peti.

>i can understand swedish better than norvegian
what kind of dark art is this?
and why do you have infernal taxes on alcohol?

define south

Socialism, state want monopoly on it so we can only buy at Systembolaget, runed by the state.

See picture

You should have gone to Somogy

>turkoslav
Literally the definition of a Magyar.

>croat on vacation
How long is that vacation of yours? And why are you shitposting so much while vacationing?

This has happened to me as well in Budapest, they tried to charge me a "service fee" or whatever the hungarian equivalent is.

They spoke neither neither English nor German so I just stood up and started yelling at them in German. It worked and I had to pay the normal price. They just want to rip off confused tourists.

its funnier under french flag
and its from 7. to 26. so 4 days more

>How long is that vacation of yours? And why are you shitposting so much while vacationing?

Was gonna stay there 3 days with friends, but all got pissed off and just bailed back to Croatia on our 2nd day in the morning. I'm home for several hours now.

Nobody speaks English/German, nobody wants to help you out and everyone wants to jew you out of your money. I don't find Hungary bad, but the capital is real cancer.

While the ripping off part is true, some restaurants do include service fees generally. I go for lunch sometimes to a restaurant near my workplace and they include service fee even for daily lunch menu.

So anywhere south of Sundsvall then?

yeah hungary does have a reputation of not speaking foreign languages

Here,

Please leave my country Mehmet

Really?

Well whatever, it's clearly a ripoff. I'm not paying that.

Wait, is it common for Hungarians to speak German?

I wouldn't know about that. English and German are kinda international languages. They're both taught in our schools so I figured I'd use 'em to communicate with Hungarians, but no wail.

It's the most common spoken foreign language (at least it was a few years ago)

Even more common than English?
That's really nice, I like Hungary even more now

I never thought about German being an international language

It isn't, but I find it second-to-go language in case English isn't an option. I think the rest of the world would sooner understand you in German rather that Arabic or Brasilian

English is far more common and has been for a long while

nyak.hu/doc/statisztika.asp?strId=_43_

In every nation in central europe german is usually the third language, while english i mandatory in school, most schools pick german as the second language to be taught (in some shcools you can pick yourself i guess but most people pick german because usefulness)

I've been to both (Balatonfüred and Trogir respectively) and tbf the latter is much more expensive from the start. 0.5 beer cost about €1.50 vs €4 respectively. No servicecharges in either place though

People pick German because it's the easiest to pass

This happens surprisingly lot in the Balkans

went to buy some shit with like 300 RSD

bought juice and some chocolates went to pay, gave 200RSD, she gave me back 250

Went home with 350RSD, a coke and a chocolate for free + 50 RSD tip

kek

you cant compare those 2
comparing shitty lake with an island
just the fees for the transporting will rise the price, not to mention exclusiveness and shit

I don't think german is easier to learn as a second language in school than russian(i'm talking about central europe)
That goes for slavs ofc

it's not a tip you're just getting ripped off because you're a dumb foreigner

True, but such is the case for swedes that have to pick a language

t. slavoturk

why the fuck are most european currencies so fucking retarded? how can you pay 2000 of anything? do you carry large stacks of money or is it like zimbabwe's 100000 trillion zimbabwean dollar bill

>2000 is printed on the paper instead of 10
wow so horrible

Polish currency in 80's or something
It's not that hard to imagine

don't you have 2, 5, 10 etc bills? this is autistic

those are coins, like cents

Never saw this service fee shit before, and I do frequent restaurants. Not in Budapest though, its an overpriced shithole. Dunakanyar is the place to be.

no we don't
the smallest denomination is 5 and it's a coin
it's not that hard to imagine, see yen or korean won

kek

I remember this

pic related, Yugoslav dinar in 1993

Yes, you are seeing that correctly it is a 500 billion dinars bill.

Though to be fair, we were at war and under sanctions from the entire world.

why does it happen often do you think?

It's been legal since mid-2000s. Was meant to bring tip out of the gray zone for taxation purposes.

Those fucking glasses

That fucking sum

People don't really care.

If the cashier screws up it's not coming out of her pay, she doesn't give a fuck.

Plus in bigger stores people frequently leave metal coins like 1-2 rsd of change ignore it, so even if someone screws up you frequently earned more than you should have.

Well it was one of the better places of either cunt, compared to what we drove to before so IMO the comparison is fair
Also the island is like 100m from the mainland and connected by bridge, so not really way out. I bet Split and Dubrovnik are even more expensive

>yfw everybody in Serbia was a billionaire of a highest standing

10 billion bill
