TFW you never went to University

>TFW you never went to University
>TFW it's too late now and I will feel out of place

I-is it even worth going to University if you're older than like 22? Will I still have fun and go to parties and drink beer with the lads and have sex with the girls?

Will I get bullied?

I'm 23 and going back for another degree and living in apartments near campus with 100% students in it

Lots are my age, some older, underages can fuck off from my beer tho

Never too late

>Will I get bullied?
yes because you are clearly an insecure faggot.

>I-is it even worth going to University if you're older than like 22?

no
you are fucked

might as well get comfortable in your service job, maybe you can make your way up to manager of your local Sears one day

I'm 23 and i'm in my last year of college ...

Thought you had the gay rainbow flag for half a second

You go there to study, not to drink and have sex.

JUST...

I started at 20 when I was 2 years older than the average and I'm fine.

Only thing I had to do was explain what I did between 18 and 20 a couple of times. In reality I did nothing because I was severely depressed, but I took the time to make up a short explanation and learn it by heart (travelled here, worked there, blablabla).

I'm thinking about doing it lads.

It just feels like once you get past a certain point it's a little bit too late, the money I make right now isn't half bad but I want to really have something to fall back on and leverage but I'm unsure how employers look at recent grads past a certain age.

They'd probably want some ambitious young 21 year old over an elderly man, wouldn't they?

>i worked so that i can afford to come here
make them feel bad instead.

Correcto

it literally doesn't matter what age you study at beyond high school

>You go there to study, not to drink and have sex.

How else am I suppose to network if i'm not getting wasted with some niggas who will hook me up with positions in their dad's company?

>I-is it even worth going to University if you're older than like 22? Will I still have fun and go to parties and drink beer with the lads and have sex with the girls?
Then lie and say you're the same age as them, nobody will give a shit either way.

its never too late to improve yourself.
who the fuck cares what strangers think.
once you finish you probably wont ever see them again.

You won't look so different from other students, those ideas are just bullshits in your head, they do not exist in real life.
I study medicine and there are a lot of people in my class who are way older than me (22, just like you). Maybe they have studied something else, maybe they have worked, maybe they did not pass the acess test many times. All of them have social life and friends and stuff and people do respect them even more.

>They'd probably want some ambitious young 21 year old over an elderly man, wouldn't they?

I doubt it . I've worked in multiple places after I finished high school and everyone in higher positions there told me they don't trust the college education of today

>it literally doesn't matter what age you study at beyond high school

Are you sure?

I'm just thinking from POV of an employer looking at two identical resumes.

>Ok... here we have user, 22 years old, fresh graduate from tier one school, nice! Ok he has a 3.9 gpa, two internships... not bad... not bad... Ah I see he's been in some clubs too, good good

>Ah and here is AnonTwo... 28 YEARS OLD???!!! what kind of fucking degenerate fuckup took so long to go to University? Does this retard fail at life or something? I don't want this degenerate working for my company!

>who the fuck cares what strangers think.
>once you finish you probably wont ever see them again.

I'm talking about employers, dude. The people who matter.

You wouldn't be an outcast or anything, but you are hitting the later years of that uni party age. If you just want to go to uni to hook up with girls and get fucked up? Do it now, in a couple years you would be out of place for that scene. Studying in and of itself has no age limit ofc.

If you're older you're supposed to be wiser and more responsible, if you go out as an immature kid then you'll lose the respect of the younger students.

You'll still be able to network but you gotta be smarter.

I finished university at 30.

one of my bio classes while i was in uni had a senior citizen in it.
i thought quite highly of him for bettering himself at such an old age.

So go above and beyond the call of duty. Do extra stuff to make up for those years.

im 23 and just started community college, but i look 19 so it's good

Unless you finish amonst the first 5 of the class..the employers will give more of a fuck about your previous working experience(yeah I know it's kindof ironic when it comes to the first job) and your work during a usual initial test period...than your actual results in college

I know plenty of people who got their degrees extremely late (in their 50s), and nobody's ever given a shit about that. Might as well go for it.

it doesnt matter how old you are.

employers arent legally allowed to ask your age in an interview, so they would only be able to guess how old you are.

they can see that both of you graduated, but you have other work experience while the younger person only went to school. youre have an advantage desu.

I've heard some areas like most Finance jobs won't even consider you if you're over 25

Just worried what employers will think, lads. There's a lot of competition these days. I want to actually get a good job and not be a wageslave who earns jackshit and hates his life.

my current job is alright but there's minimal growth

The first year there were only like 3 kids my age in class. And most kids came straight from high school.

The final master year there were even a dozen 40 and 50 year olds in class. A lot of people who did a master degree besides their work.

>than your actual results in college

Results in College are very important though. If you couldn't even buckle down to get a decent GPA in COLLEGE how could you possibly expect to make it in a competitive workplace?

You shouldn't think for others.

You're imagining all kinds of things, but you don't know what others think. And why does it matter anyway. If an employer won't hire you then you just move on to the next one.

most jobs arent going to give 2 shits about your gpa for an undergrad degree.

I know a few people who were older than 20 when they started university
In fact, I'm 19 but the youngest on my course
I think the oldest is 24 or 25 with the average age being at least 20

>mfw i started college when i was 17
I am 18 right now but when i reach 23 i am gonna be an wealthy lawyer just like my dad :3

Even if it's true, so what? Just focus on the future, you can't change the past anyway. You can still get a fantastic job, you just have to work harder than your peers.

>most Finance jobs won't even consider you if you're over 25

That's not true

this Again, they care SIGNIFICANTLY more about your past jobs/experience, references and how you manage during the first weeks ...which in many jobs is a "test period"
You're actually more likely to get a god review if you focus on degree-related extra-college activities (clubs/meeting/courses/internships - even unpaid/ self-projects / if you get published anywhere ...etc) than your actual grades

>You shouldn't think for others.
>You're imagining all kinds of things, but you don't know what others think

Well it's just what I've heard a lot from reading online and it does make sense desu.

>most jobs arent going to give 2 shits about your gpa for an undergrad degree.
But isn't that all they have to go off of?

I find it incredibly hard to believe what you're saying because internships at some places LITERALLY say to "3.5 gpa minimum" and they throw out your resume if it doesn't pass it by a fair bit because of the competition.

i can't imagine a big 4 firm or PE firm or something disregarding it

My uncle went to university in his 40s because the company he's working for told him they would promote him if he did.

Fucked a bunch of girls too (though he's in excellent shape for a man of his age).

Well yeah, conferences, clubs and internships go without saying but I'm just thinking it'll really make me stand out negatively compared to the competition

it's a freemarket out there man

>tfw never finished high school and currently NEETing it up for the sixth continuous year

I'm actually moderately happy, all things considered.

I finished my 3 year degree last year and so far have not got a job. I've been lounging for months doing nothing, no connections or anything
Be sure to do internships and all that crap

Just use the power of imagination when you write your resume. :^)

>Be sure to do internships and all that crap

Yeah user you kind of should have... The networking and internships is like the biggest part of going to University. The actual degree itself is a much smaller part

I'll get to it in the new year :^)

only having a 4.0 gpa without any extra-curricular activities, work experience, or volunteer work of any kind looks a lot worse than having a 3.5gpa with those activities.

True of course. But it's not an either-or.

You can have both, and a lot of people DO

Im 24 and Im still going to college.
It's gonna be my last year though.

Oldfags GTFO

I started having more than occasional fun with university lads after 24 viz. after I graduated altogether.

I'm 28 and doing the third year of a college course, there's a guy who's 47.

Do you not drink with your friends anyway?

I just want to have a real University experience.

I want to join a fraternity and have lots of fun with my bros ;-;

you sound like a greedy asshole

How am I greedy or an asshole?

you sound like youre letting movies influence your views on uni too much.

Assholes are hardly greedy.

Assholes are a gift that keep on giving.

m8 I see 50 and 40 year olds going to uni for their first degree all the time

They just don't typically hangout with the young adults.

Even if you're in your early thirties it wouldn't be weird hanging out with fresh face 18-21 year olds

>fun with my bros
bros dont study hardcore finance/commerce. they study degrees that fedoras mock.

I started when I was 21, is probably gonna take a second degree when im done with my current bachelor

What do you mean by that?

Frats seem cool, too bad fraternities in Canada are a bit watered down relative to our folks down south

Finance bros are pretty cool

I've been looking at twitter pictures of some frats and they look like they have so much fun together, I want to experience that too. And I'm guessing the connections are pretty sweet

the classic american daddy boy who goes to uni to "study" worthless stuff, expecting a first class job at some big firm only because he got drunk with the son of the boss or something

My senior year of college I took a bunch of classes with a guy in my major who was 31. He was pretty cool, nobody cared that he was older. Honestly I thought he was only like 25 until he told me his age.

I am 28, I am doing the second year of college course.

It's phd course...

>the classic american daddy boy who goes to uni to "study" worthless stuff

Hey Finance isn't useless!

>expecting a first class job at some big firm only because he got drunk with the son of the boss or something
When you're in a top-tier business program and some of your classmates' dads are literally worth $100's of millions then getting drunk with them and becoming friends can strongly help you later on...

My grandma went to a university and graduated at the age of 35 just because she wanted to. She didn't even have to. It was basically to prove her husband wrong. Fuck off with these excuses.

>Fuck off with these excuses.

Bro I'm not making excuses.

Going to University is an investment, and I am questioning whether it will really pay off in this case.

pretty much confirmed, your kind never manages to go through serious finance/economics courses

Fucking westerners staying unemployed because welfare monies.

If you choose right and work hard it can pay off easily.

Are you trying to suggest that networking isn't a huge part?

Degrees don't teach you much, your employer basically wants you to not be a retard who - A) Understands the basics and B) isn't an autist and can actually learn

>Finland
>Australia

>West

your description of a frat seems to be like something out of an american pie movie or something like that.
a frat really isnt much different than a bunch of people living in the same house. the main difference is that instead of paying rent you are basically paying for friendship.
do you really think that people who have had their life handed to them on a silver platter are going to care about your success, especially when you have only been friends with them for less than 4 years?

>work hard

This meme needs to die. The key to happiness is being a lazy, vile scumbag who exploits the less fortunate. The universe was created by lazy vile scumbag who exploits the less fortunate (The Demiurge), thus emulating the creator is sdure way to fullfilling life.

welfare monies is a spook, it's simply society giving me what i deserve

How much cost a degree per year in Canada?

>do you really think that people who have had their life handed to them on a silver platter are going to care about your success

Yes I genuinely think so.

>This meme needs to die. The key to happiness is being a lazy, vile scumbag who exploits the less fortunat

Working hard at being a "lazy, vile exploiting scumbag" :^)

youtube.com/watch?v=TeXatquVqAc

Depends on program.

Most are $7k/year (for tuition) in Ontario but some programs can be more. Queen's Commerce and Ivey HBA is a fair bit more, but they're also top-tier

go back to your containment board

look bud, you'd better stick to business bachelors, finance clearly isn't for someone who thinks like a 18 year old daddy boy who has just seen Wall Street

>university of a billion chinks:
10-15k per year if you are from here
50k-ish per year if you are a zhang

I dropped out of 6th form, worked in a factory for 1 1/2 years, realised I don't want to end up like the people working in factories. Went to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa for 2 years. Went to Germany for a year, then hung out in France for a year, almost got married. Then came back to the UK to do a 2 year diploma in IT while living in absolute poverty.

I went to University at 24, finished with a first and been working as a software dev for 1 year now on £24k which is enough for a nice 2 bedroom place of my own, car, a few luxuries etc.

If you're in your 20's you'll have no problem with fitting in, there are plenty of people aged 18-25 and lots who are more mature than their age. My only advice is to get quiet roommates in your second and third years.

It's 100% worth doing in the UK because you only pay back the cost when you earn and it's such a small amount.

Try to have a job lined up for when you leave.

You watch me, I'm going to be a hedge fund manager in a few years

they would give those jobs to their other friends. not some poor pleb they just met a couple years ago.

I'm motivated to change that

It's not hard to network with 20 year olds dude, I'm sure

let's talk again when you'll be struggling with quant and macro exams

Macro is easy.

I've already read several textbooks on micro econ. Besides it's literally not hard in undergrad in finance

commerce is literally what chinks fall back on when they arent good enough to be a doctor.
have fun with that.

>Wanting to be a doctor

Yeah not interested in getting out of school in almost a decade after studying like an autist while people are enjoying their lives, besides getting into Medschool in Canada is near impossible, pretty sure one of the hardest in the world

There's a reason physicians have one of the highest suicide rates of any profession

>Macro is easy.
>I've already read several textbooks on micro econ

micro/macro and quant should be the core of undergrad finance, the cool stuff comes after that

courses that start with "actual" finance are absolutely meme-tier (that's why in my uni finance is a master's only course)

commerece has pretty high requirements to get in because of that. all they care about is money too.

t. Econ major cuckold

Enjoying your applied math degree, fag?

>commerece has pretty high requirements to get in because of that

All good programs in Canada have high reqs.

Grade inflation man, it's crazy. Look at average average for acceptance year to year, it keeps going up it's fucked

Finance is literally applied math, economics "math" is highschool tier stuff you massive idiot

finance is a lot less math than economics, even in undergrad

completely wrong, there are even special introductory math courses only for finance majors (which are full of math nerds)

anyway I'm pretty sure you're thinking finance is some kind of business administration or something like that

it isn't

>falling for the university meme

Oh yes if you pay thousands of shekel per year I GUARANTEE you a job that you will have a major boner over for your entire life, you definitely won't get bored in like 1 year.

Don't fall for that shit op, get a trade, have a laugh on site, own your own business one day and cry with laughter at all the normies that are in crippling debt

>Don't fall for that shit op, get a trade, have a laugh on site, own your own business one day and cry with laughter at all the normies that are in crippling debt

I don't want to do physical labour for the rest of my life (for a number of reasons).

Also trades jobs are the first to get automated and they really just don't seem very appealing to me. There's limited growth and I've never been great at doing repetitive labour for long periods of times.

Besides, whenever I look at a trades worker I have NEVER thought to myself, "Hmmm that looks like someone I look up to/want to be like". Also pic related is a bit discouraging.

Furthermore the debt isn't much at all. I have lots of savings and our tuition is partially subsidized by the government and I'll be getting bunch of grants and scholarships anyway most likely so it's really not going to be expensive at all.

>anyway I'm pretty sure you're thinking finance is some kind of business administration or something like that

Finance is literally a specialization of Business Admin in undergrad though.

Maybe you're thinking post-grad stuff

>become a lawyer to be rich
>literally work non stop

My sister is a barrister and she fucking hates it, she is rich though.

Personally would rather be well off but actually have a life

>Finance is literally a specialization of Business Admin

jesus christ

proper undegrad finance courses MUST have 1/3 of quant subjects

lots of trade jobs arent going to be able to be automated for a while.
doing something specific like HVAC or plumbing can pay quite well after only a couple years of work. something like plumbing is so common and necessary that every person will need that service.

>first to get automated

True for your average bricklayer retard. Not for electricians, plumbers and carpenters. Plus who said do manual labour for the rest of your life? I've owned my own business since I was 24 and I guarantee you I make more than 95% of university grads 20 years after graduation.

>I've owned my own business since I was 24 and I guarantee you I make more than 95% of university grads 20 years after graduation.

Well that's the plan anyway.

People don't stay in Finance for long, they get a bunch of experience and money then move on. I'd probably going into Consulting or something or take my own path anyways

Well trades don't seem to pay all that well. They start off well, but they don't really grow linearly at all and seem to stagnate since some retard who installs pot lights with 15 years experience is no difference from one with 2 years exp.

Besides imo there's more than enough retards to get into trades. There's plenty of hs dropouts and overall degenerates to take those jobs. And really, with the low barrier of entry I don't see it as a determent.

Whereas a good University program + internships is a pretty strong barrier of entry
