'En' is right originally, but when 'yen' was defined, Roma-ji was still vagueness.
江戸 was often written as 'yedo'.
old えん was ゑん, and that was pronounced as 'wen' once.
In the case of that also, it is not 'yen'.

In Serbian and in other slav languages you have latin and cyrillic.They look different but they are the same letters. (cyrillic has more and some different letters tho)
Is this the same thing with hiragana,katakana and kanji? Do you just use one system or do you combine them or something?
I have just started learning Japanese (like 2 days ago) with memrise and the first thing you had was to learn some jap words in romaji and then you would learn hiragana, but I'm still not sure IF and when kanji and katakana come in place.
I love it. I think I've only watched 1940-55 and 1963-1967 versions.

Hiragana and Katakana are basicly just alphabets

You can use both for the same stuff but basicly katakana is mainly used to transcribe foreign words.
Kanji are a bit different, usually each Kanji carries a meaning for example 木 means tree. You can combine these to kinda combine the meaning of the words. Of course it's not that easy, but I hope you get the gist.
