/pcbg/ PC Building General - Non-shill edition

General:
>If your build isn't completely Poverty-tier, consider an SSD. Consider buying a large SSD for the price of an HDD + SSD, and saving 50$ to buy an HDD
>If your build needs Wifi, you will need a Wireless Network Adapter. General rule of thumb is more than 2 antennas. 2.4ghz or 5.

CPUs:
Coffee lake was paper launched, don't bother until like November/December, i will update recs then
>A8-9600 (APU) - Poverty-tier builds, still bulldozer shit but has an AM4 upgrade path
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (~500)
>R3 1300x - Gap between 1200 & Ryzen 5, consider a 1400 if you need multithreading
>R5 1600 - Best bang for your buck with gaymen & mixed uses, 1600x if you don't like overclocking
>R7 / Used Xeon / Threadripper - Heavy multi-tasking & mixed uses, not just for gaymen

GPUs:
>1050 TI - 1080p 60hz at low/medium settings
>RX 580 - 1080p 60hz at high/ultra settings, supports Freesync
>1060 6GB - 1080p 60hz at high/ultra settings, supports G-Sync
>1070/(Vega 56 if you can find it for a good price) - 1080p 144hz at high/ultra settings, or 1440p 60hz at high/ultra settings
>1080 TI - 1440p 144hz at high/ultra settings, or 4k 60hz at high/ultra settings

RAM:
RAM costs so much because newer phones use DDR4 memory.
>Check your Mobo's QVL
>Ryzen CPUs benefit a lot from high speed RAM, 3200MHz is ideal

there already is one up

>Intel shill general
no thanks juan

>calling people shills when you only advocate for one brand

>Other thread not even 100 posts in
>WAHH WAHHH INTEL SHILLS WAHHH WAHH WHY DON'T YOU BUY SUPERIOR AMD PRODUCTS
>PLEASE GUIZ USE MY OP

why are AMDrones so absolutely pathetic?

...

>WOW I'VE BEEN VERBALLY ABUSED ON TEH INTERNET
>BUT I CAN'T THINK OF A COMEBACK
>WAIT I CAN JUST POST WOJAKS WITH INTEL HATS
>HAHA THAT WILL SHOW THEM INTEL SHILLS

Have you considered:
1. Growing up
2. Killing yourself
3. Stop sucking AMDicks

>tfw AMD GTX 1070, 1080ti along with a AMD Xeon

I'm not a fanboy, I can admit that each chip maker has advantages and disadvantages, if you exclusively game intel is still going to be the top dog, if you use your computer for rendering and workstation tasks amd is a much better buy

Yes goyim, buy intel BUY INTEL

cpu and gpu are completely different markets, even amd pairs has paired nvidia cards with their own chips, and intel cpus with their graphics cards

>intel is still going to be the top dog,
by 2 frames, complete unavailability and stuttering
i have intel and i know why people hate them first hand

100 posts and every reply to the op is telling you to stop shilling, this thread is needed

980ti user here. Should I wait for Volta or buy a 1080ti?

>i have intel and i know why people hate them first hand
a 2500k?

I also have a 980ti, I'm planning on waiting for volta unless 1080ti's go on a really good sale for the holidays.

WAIT for volta

4790k, people with 2500k's should have a positive image of intel when they were actually good

>4790k
that's a solid chip, unless you are doing workstation tasks with it

Will Volta worth getting than a 1080ti?

Why? Is it significantly better?

>wanna upgrade ram
>costs as much as an i7-7600

What a country.

>solid
i have a custom WC loop where it is regularly hotter than my 1200 mhz 290x and hotter than my old athlon II when the athlon was on its stock cooler, it stutters in modern games if i have too many background processes open, i use VM's pretty often, and the intel shills here insisted that that cpu can oc to 5 ghz but the highest i was ever able to get to was 4.6 ghz with 1.4 volts

its anything but "solid"

hopefully it will be but its quite a while away from coming out

>stutters in modern games if i have too many background processes open
is this what all the intel stutters meme shit stems from? bad housekeeping? of course shit is gonna stutter if you are streaming 4k trap porn and have 50 browser tabs loaded while gaming
you are literally throwing hardware at a software problem (your indecisive brain) have some fucking discipline and debloat yourself

> of course shit is gonna stutter if you are streaming 4k trap porn and have 50 browser tabs loaded while gaming
AMD doesnt

theres usually a 20-30%ish gain between flagship cards ie 980>980ti>1080>1080ti>volta xx80>xx80ti and if you end up paying the same amount for a 1080ti as the new volta card that also has better performance it's not much of a deal

>62800419
do you get paid per (You) or is the body of your work more of a disruption kind of thing?

Is AMD's replacement service good? Thinkin of buying a Ryzen R5 1600. Don't know if I want to purchase Microcenter's protection plan or just deal with whatever AMD's warranty service is.

>intel has an issue
>ur fucking stupid its your fault intel is shit
how do you even rationalize this shit?

how much is the protection plan there?

Finally a non-shill OP, thanks.

I assume hes just trying to derail this thread so it can make his look better, could just be autism, post purchase rationaization, shilling or a combination of the above

20 bucks for 2 years, but I don't have much cash to spare

but how are you supposed to hit 144hz on a amd system?

bump
fuck intel OPs

I think amd has a pretty good warranty protection but if you want the peace of mind you could go for microcenter's plan if you trust it, besides you shouldn't need it, CPUs dont break that often

So when will volta be out? Early 2018 or mid 2028?

Mid 2018 i mean.

average fps doesn't matter, evidenced by how the 7700k can get 144 fps in a game and still "fee" less smooth and a 135 fps r5 1600 because of worse frametimes

>mid 2028?
considering amd doesn't care about consumer anymore and nvidia has no competition it probably will be 2028

>Fat fingers.
Mid 2018 i mean.

honestly navi and volta should be around the same time and that is early 2019 at best

probably end of 2018Q1 for the first volta cards and then Q4 or 2019Q1 for the ti

Damn.

What's a decent SSD for a poorfag?

Should I worry about getting rid of my 970 yet?

volta is already developed though, just no consumer cards since vega sucked balls and nvidia is only selling DGX systems, I wouldn't count on seeing navi anytime soon since raja is on vacation and AllMyDelays has a history of pushing back timescales by years

Does it i5-7600K need to be delid like the i7-7700K?

>2018Q1 for the first volta cards
the teslas and quadros will be out then maybe, the geforce cards will be late 2018, early 2019

they all need the DELID, or you could just get something that doesn't need to be delided

>they all need the DELID

Not really, the 7600K gets nowhere near as bad as the 7700K in terms of heat spikes... Neither really Need to be delid, just have decent cooling and you're right.

teslas are already shipping out
