Anyone else here a bookmark hoarder?
I have over 3000 bookmarks in Firefox and it's pretty good at dealing with bookmarks but I'm wondering if there's a better way of organising and viewing all this shit.
How do you organise bookmarks? Do you use any services other than just a browser to save links? I know there are things like Pocket out there but I've never tried any.

That's all well and good for websites themselves, but for things more specific like a specific video or something, a search might be useless.
How big is your exported HTML file? I started pruning/purging when mine got up to nearly 3 megs.

Also: Do you use folders/proper directories? I think my Youtube and misc. porn folders were easily the hugest, but iI got them both down to manageable sizes by just bookmarking mostly the actual content creator/topic/person, rather than specific vids. I download nearly every video clip that I know I will watch repeatedly, so that helps.
Yeah, my bookmarks are sorted fairly meticulously, it's not just a big unsorted list, it's folders, and folders within folders, a bit of tagging even. It's just that there's a lot of them.

I have a special folder for things I want to look at later, but never end up looking at it.
Whelp, I used to use AM-Deadlink back in the day, but each browser has it's own special-snowflake HTMP-formatting these days, so honestly it's just better to prune/manage manually.

I just looked at an old backup CD I made in '06..my exported HTML file. Back then was almost 2MB. JFC I have a Quake 3 Arena folder with literally hunfreds of links.

Long since I counted my bookmark, is a file of over 39MB.
Anyone knows a good browser independent bookmark manager for GNU/Linux?
I hoard bookmarks, but in a stupid way. I highlight the url in the address bar, then drag it off onto my desktop. I then sort it into some other folder on my system later (I have a script that roughly sorts them). I started doing that just because sometimes I'd find something I found interesting, and I wanted to leave it on my desktop where I'd remember to look at it later (since otherwise I would just bookmark something and then forget it).
At some point or another I started using it as my sole method of bookmarking things. I had some reason for that, but I don't remember it. It does make it easy to sort and organize everything through terminal commands and shell scripts, though. One aggravating issue is that Linux and Windows use a different format for desktop links (Windows uses .url, Linux uses .desktop) so half of my bookmarks can't be opened. I'll have to figure that out at some point in the future, although eventually I want to transition to just using bookmarks and see if I can find some decent bookmark managing software since dragging shit off onto the desktop all the time is a pain in the ass and such a granny way of doing things.
I tag them. So even bookmarks in different folder but has relevant tags still show up if I search for it.

I can't fucking use bookmarks, knowing the fact that I'll never be able to bookmark every interesting website/page on the internet makes me feel so uncomfortable that I get panic attacks whenever I start trying to build up a folder
