Yo Sup Forums Anyone have knowledge on broadcasting tech? I'm planning on starting a little local broadcast. I have a good hilltop location for broadcasting, but I want to spend as little as possible (at least initially) on startup costs.
You'll get shut down in a day if you actually had the power that anyone could pick up.
Real pirate radio stations would operate out of trucks or boats for this reason.
p.s. thanks for reminding me of jet grind radio, fuck that game was perfect in every way
Eli Torres
I actually have availability to some nonchalant vehicles that would be good for a setup. Also I'm in a fairly rural area which (at least from what I've read into) is a plus on not getting shut down.
Any ideas on how to increase stealth with it all?
Thomas Lopez
Why would you do this?
Anyone can broadcast anything over the iternet and reach the world, plus if you really want to be on terresterial local radio they seemingly let anyone on AM who can fill time with crackpot nonsense.
Leo Wood
>Real pirate radio stations would operate out of trucks or boats for this reason. Yup. Back in the 80s there was a pirate radio DJ named "Mr. Magic" that did this around the Vice City area
Carter Martin
Anyone with 3 receivers and some attenuation pots can triangulate you in no time. We do stuff like that for fun at ham radio conventions. Google fox hunt.
Best bet is in international waters on a yacht with some solar panels and a big ass beam.

That game was the entire reason I picked up a set of rollerblades.
I still roll into the office on a 3x120mm setup. Shits dank af
Ryan Jackson
Got I loved rollerblading as a kid. Not sure why I ever stopped.
Christopher Hernandez
Why in the fuck hasn't there been another Jet Set Radio game in like 20 years???
Bentley Adams
If he's in the middle of nowhere and isn't broadcasting over any already used channels, it's unlikely the FCC would get out there in just a day. Maybe a month or so, and he'd get a notice of apparent liability first.
OP, read up on Boulder Free Radio if you're interested in a successful way to run a pirate radio station.
Kayden Robinson
Thank you for the advice.
I plan on only broadcasting at certain times that would (hopefully) reduce risk and keeping the things broadcasted family-friendly in hopes that people won't be ringing in angry calls and complaining. I really want to try to offer something special to the people who tune in in my small community, ya know?
From what I'm looking into there are a lot of creative ways of staying low-key.

Why not just put your radio show on an existing station and the internet?
Bentley Parker
>Not sure why I ever stopped. perhaps it was the skateboard kids calling you "fruitboarder"
Maybe that was just me..
There was some stigma against rollerbladers for some reason. It was seen as feminem.
Jackson Miller
Nah I kept at it until university, then I think I just moved around too much to bring shit like rollerblades with me.
Any tips on getting back into it? Like what are the brands now? (I suspect very different from the past when it was more mainstream)
Chase Cooper
I would never rollerblade as an adult, allthough Im probably still an expert at highspeed backwards blading and shit.
Honestly if rollerblades were invented that allow you to use your regular shoesinside the rollerblade instead of having to carry them with you in a bag or on your shoulder they probably would have been more popular.

It's a pretty fucking Sup Forums sport to get into. Rip down to Canadian Tire in the spring and grab a basic set for 70$. Grab some knew, elbow and wrist pads while you're at it. Shit's fuckoff fun.
I eneded up a 6'4 plaid wearing faggot. I just camp it now. Also yelling woodpushers at casual longboarders if fun.
Depends on what you want to do. Hate to say it but rip over to r/rollerblading they have a decent community. If you're looking to just cruise around long stretches go for a tri-wheel setup 3x120mm or 3x110mm @ 84A. But for slower urban enviros a 4x80 set up will do. If you like how ice skates handle, rocker your wheels. I personally love how hockey boots feels so I'm a Bauer boy through and through.
K2 & SEBA have a decent spread of beginner skates though. If you're not sure if you want to spend a few hundred see if Value Village or Goodwill has some pairs in your size, worst case you grab some new bearings and wheels from SportChek. CanadianTire has ridiculous deals on skates but they are usually entry tier garbage.

They exist, kind of crappy because of the differences in support between a skate and shoe, they're called Doops!
I think k2 has a shoe/skate hybrid where the shoes pop out of the skate. It's a little fucky.
John Stewart
You fucking know it bud.
Thomas Smith
Interesting

The boot part folds flat as well and I believe you can easily strap them together. If you want to go full rice, SEBA has LED wheels. For carrying just chuck them into a sports bag or carry em. I just tie my laces together and hook it around my bags shoulder strap. Looks fucked, but eh.

How do you brake with these? as a lad I always removed the brakes because they looked gay, and just adjusted my speed with mental physics and grabbing on to something.
I assume everyone must have done this if these just forgo the brakes entirely from the start
Cooper Morris
I actually lost my virginity to that fucking soundtrack. Undressed her to Bedroom Rockers, ripped her up to Voodoo People and nutted somewhere in One Love. terrible.
Jayden Phillips
I lost my virginity to the sounds of Dawn of the Dead 2004 on a cramped futon.
You're lucky
Jonathan Price
The T-Stop is your main brake. You drag your dominant foot perpendicular to the direction of travel. The more force you put into it the harder you brake. It eats soft wheels up so it's better to use harder wheels and slalom curves to bleed speed before TStoping.
But for speed control while just booting around, it's your workhorse. There's also slides like the magic slide if you're ballsy.
Jeremiah Johnson
I vaguely remember doing something similar, thanks.
Using the brakes on roller blades if I remember correctly often just made you fall on your ass because you have to like lift your whole foot at an angle.
Christopher Morales
Slides are cool, but you need to practice and they're only usable with 84A or harder wheels on wet or smooth pavement. TStops will work anywhere. Take a look at PintoPonyProductions on youtube for some general shit.
