Nothing is good on Linux

Light & Enough shortcuts.

What's wrong with VLC?

Clementine is on par with foobar. Wat are u on about

>mpd + nincompoop

mpd + anything > foobar

rhythmbox

as a music player? everything.

I like audacious. There is no good upnp player though. Actually, there is no upnp player at all, shitty plugin in rhythmbox is shitty, the only other choice is djmount which eats memory like chrome, consuming like 2gb for 300gb music folder.

moc

/thread

mpv

Isn't Kodi the upnp thing of choice?

I'm not going to run fucking kodi as background music player.

Thanks for taking the b8. You are all a bunch of retarded nigger.

clementine is janky bloated garbage that looks 10 years old
using vlc as a music player is like using a 3ds to watch movies

ACME
AFPLAY
REEEEEE

Cmus

youtube

fuck off to leddit normie

>listens to music

>accuses people of being "normies"

I listen to clicking hard drives to amplify my anxiety.

npbp (nineteenth post best post)

I don't understand. To me a music player is something that opens music file(s) and plays them. If it does that how could it be "not good"?

What is it that you want a music player to do that isn't accomplished by existing linux apps?

I think it OP refers to music manager+player combo software.

What does a music manager do?

>music manager
Into the trash it goes. The only good music manager is directory structure.

... and what? You just symlink your playlists?

>not using VLC

not when you have 50,000 songs kiddo

fpbp

mpv /media/music/*

Madman

>not writing your own shell scripts to extract media info and insert them into the directory structure.

If you absolutely need to have single songs in multiple playlists, then sure, why not a symlink? There are playlist files

cmus is pretty good.

I don't think I've heard 50,000 songs in my entire life

this
go back to windows

I used to use cmus but now I use the google music play site.

I miss cmus.

autism aside that would still be inconvenient to navigate

find music -type f | wc -l
40953

Why the fuck do you need to symlink playlists?

Did you forget about cmus you stupid nigger

Agreed. I just want musicbee

If I'm organizing only by directory structure, then I can't use other files.

If you can't figure it out you shouldn't be using GNU/Linux in the first place

What the fuck are you talking about?

only correct answer. The rest of you should fuck off back to /lgbt/

Playlist files are a form of music manager bullshit.

No, it's not. Playlist it's just a playlist.

Why do you still save music locally? You know you can just go to Spotify and listen to 90% of mildly popular music for free right? That is the biggest waste of storage space ever.

uhh it's always going to be more inconvenient than a dedicated music manager

Come back when spotify will have at least half of chinese porncartoons OSTs.

>ads
>not owning your music

Again, I ask, what does a music manager do?

>there's still no good linux distro

>he thinks he owns the music he illegally torrented

this reeks of greasy neckbeard

You sound like a fucking boomer who has a bunch of toolbars on his browser

In this whole thread nobody has explained what a music manager does and I can't even imagine what it could do that 1-line shell scripts couldn't

It can execute what your self wrote script can do without having to worry about scripting it.

Back to your smartphone/rick and morty general faggot.

They can try to come and take it if they want.

>Ads
Block them, are you an idiot?
>Copying 1s and 0s to your computer that anybody could easily copy to their computer at any times means you now "own" them
Makes no sense
I hardly know what rick and morty is. What does that have to with not wasting storage space on autism?

Audacious if you're a retrogrouch, Rythmbox if you're not autismal.

steam is okay for music

Lollypop is cool. Pic related.
No gui config though which is a bummer. Sane defaults though.

There are some okay music players. The real problem lies deeper in the linux environment. Pulseaudio is cancer and it's everywhere. As bad as systemd

explain please? I've used ubuntu for 5 or so years on my home computers and havent noticed much of a difference between it and the windows pc at work.

ncmpcpp

google play music fs

>clementine
>bloated

Just no. If that's the case then just use mpd + ncmpcpp like every1 who's white

VLC is the best music player for Linux. Plays literally every format flawlessly, has a decent playlist interface, slowdown, speedup options, shuffle, repeat, etc. Name one important feature it does not have faggots.

I use spotify, fucking pleb.

?
It just says 0110 1001 at 0xdeadbeef

if you like foobar2000 you'll probably like cmus

otherwise use MPD or some iTunes clone.

Does seriously no one else use beets to manage their music with Metadata and directory structure and mpd+ncmpcpp to play it? Am I seriously the only one that dosent a massive bloated gui just to play fucking music

But there is and it's called Herrie by Ed Schouten: github.com/EdSchouten/herrie

That's not how you use deadbeef.

neither have I, doesn't prevent me from hoardng twice the amount on my HDD

Is it an haxor program?

No, you never dereference deadbeef. It's a dead word marker.

Fucking clicks are so annoying.

you could make one using html and having it run on a browser that supports most MIME types

Wasted life.

>Can't double click a song from a file manager and open it

This, or cmus if you don't want to install mpd

deadbeef

>still no windows or mac music player that is comparable to the variety and quality of linux music players

xmms2 + lxmusic

>if you like foobar2000 you'll probably like cmus
You mean deadbeef? cmus doesn't even have bit-perfect output.

Playlists are pleb tier. Listen to albums

Anything else is bloat

Literally what is wrong with Rhythmbox?

(((Gtk)))

Gnome garbage

fucking this
mind you, not out of choice
sometimes I hear it clicking even when there is no pc around

how is it different from ncmpcpp?

This. I tried a lot and it is Cmus for sure.

Beets for managing music library. Wrote a very short script yesterday, that imports new music updates the music library of cmus and rsyncing the changes to my other devices
