None of my dream builds are available on pcpartpicker

Depends on how you define "dream setup"
>money no object
Probably a dual Epyc 7601 system with 128GB RAM and four GP100s in it.
>if I had a lot of money burning a hole in my pocket
Step down to a 1950X, 32GB and 2x 1080 Ti
>something I could reasonably afford if I ate cup noodles for the next year
1700X, 32GB and wait for 1070 Ti
But frankly just about anything would be an upgrade to the potato I have to suffer rendering with now.

Picrel with 12-13" and some i5-i7 and 8GB ram.
Neat thin battery would be cool too.
I like that design.

>V3 Xeon
There are much better CPUs out now. Even if you want to artificially knock the price up by going with the dual Xeon meme, you could at least have used Xeon Silver/Gold chips.
>Cooler
must be a pricing error
>mobo
Swap with asus z10pe-d8 ws and you could have had two chips in it and significantly more RAM support
>RAM
why two kits? also the X99-E doesn't support registered RAM, only server motherboards do.
>SSD
the P3608 is a volume-optimized drive, it will be a shit as the main OS drive because of low random read/write and latency.
>GPU
why just one? your motherboard has those expensive PLX chips on it to enable 4-way 16x for a reason. a GP100 pair is a much more desirable option because NVlink pools the RAM together for 32GB of HBM2.

>12-core Xeon
>128GB of RAM
>Nvidia Quadro of some model with decent amount of video RAM onboard for 3D work, don't give a fuck about games
>27" 4K IPS panel display

That's pretty much it and would suit me for many years to come.

>other people post their dream machine configs
>this asshole shits on their dreams
>fuck you, asshole

here

I literally just picked the most expensive shit I could find

>Post your dream setup
Literally my current setup with a few hardware upgrades and that fucking NPT bug fixed.

>picking the most expensive stuff you can find
Nice digits, but a low clocked, high core count CPU is gonna be trash for anything that isn't heavyly parallelized. I guenuenly wouldn't want that in my dream setup.

Pot calling kettle black, your rebuttal to the quads post is invalidated by the fact that you are using Ryzen and not Coffee lake. Also, Running Ryzen with 2133MHz RAM is a terrible idea.

...

I know Ryzen likes fast RAM, but I prefer reliability over maximum possible performance.
My RAM is actually ddr4-2400, but PCPP didn't have that part.

best xeon there is atm
Titan XP
256gb RAM
intel pcie SSD

Holy kek, this board is 80% preteen Sup Forumsirgins, isn't it?

The only generalization you can make about Sup Forums from this thread is that at least 11 people browse it.

I'd like to replace the 1080Ti for Vega 64 for linux compatibility.

Phenom II X4 970
GTX 1030
4GiB ram @ 1600 MHz
and maybe a new $5 mouse would be neat but not really needed.
