1. first reply is my desktop. Im a winbaby. What can I do in Windows10 to spruce it up without taking up too much of the cpu?

2. Besides streaming movies to a memepi and my Xbox, is there anything else i can do with a network drive? its a 2 TB HDD.

3. My desk has wires for the speaker, keyboard, and mouse kinda splayed everywhere, but I go to Lan parties a good bit and like to pack it up pretty quickly. So without zipties, whats a good way to organize the cables from all my i/o devices, that isnt ugly?

If i install windows on a PC will multiple hard drives and ask windows to do a fresh install will it wipe all hard drives or only the hard drive i install windows to?

On Windows you can paste the link to an image into the file upload thingo instead of saving it to your hard drive, but how do I do it on Mac OS X?

I've officially determined that I am unable to have windows isolated in a VM on top of Linux. Not until I get a new pc anyway, which I don't plan on doing until summer.
If I were to use Linux in a VM on Windows (qume maybe?), should I be concerned about the ability of windows 10 to see or acsess what I'm doing in that Linux vm environment?
I want to use Linux in an isolated fashion without dual booting, and am wondering how safe the data in such a system would be

Eh, not my style. Ive gotten used to the (lack of) usability of the win10 start menu and file explorer, but I really enjoy their aesthetics over XP and Vista. Is there any other UI thing you know of that isnt complete shit and looks good? Im into a clean more modern look.

What's the best way to do backups on Windows? I'm going to replace my laptop with a desktop and I'm going to reuse the SSD in my laptop as the boot drive on the desktop, but I'll probably have to wipe it to prevent the Windows license from shitting itself. Do I just use the built in backup tool in Windows 10?

depends on what you want to back up. Media files are just copy/paste or freefilesync.

You're going to need a new license either way. If you sysprep windows you can usually pop it straight into the new pc, although it's good to get rid of the bloat when switching to a new pc.

I usually just back up everything and then just move over the files that I need onto the new hard drive. I'll try making a full system image backup and reinstalling Windows, otherwise I'll just run Windows without activating it.

If you mean just clicking on the samba shared file from computer 2, then computer 2.

Defaults to the drive with the OS partition on it (the others aren’t affected). Besides, it usually asks you which drive you want the install to go on to anyway.

I wanted to make a seedbox/media center, wanted to spend like 100€ or so, not much more (maybe just get a PSU and a 1150 CPU since I already got all the other stuff, but the cheaper CPU would be a g3220 and it's like 50€, and then I'd replace my PSU and use the old one there, and that would be like another 90€

The only way to get a NPE from line 36 is if System or out is null.

Did you somehow manage to import System from the wrong package? (actually, iirc System is imported implicitly, so you shouldn't have had to import it at all)

You would absolutely need the C3000/C7000 chassis, without it you've got no PSU, no control, no IO, the blade module is pretty much just the CPU, RAM, disks and half a motherboard, the chassis provides the rest.

Trying to get 4k 60hz to work on a TV with a 50 foot HDMI cable connected to my PC. I can get my TV to receive a signal at 4K 60hz, but the display colors are pink/purple and green only. If I use an HDMI 2.0 compatible signal booster like this one, do you think it will work?

Macbook and Macbook pro are pretty nice machines if your goal is minimum size and don't care that they've only got USB C / Thunderbolt 3 ports

Macbook Air is pretty old design in comparison, has much more normal IO including regular USB A ports, but has rather low resolution TN screen.

Actually it's a bit more than 50 ft in total. There are two 3 ft cables, one on each side, connected to outlets at the walls.
1080p 60hz comes through fine with no noticeable issues as far as I can discern, and so does 4k 30hz.
All of the cables are rated at 18gbps.

Try velcro cable straps. They stay attached to the cable so you won't lose them. It's much more flexible than trying to use tubing.

So I've learned C++ and C# for games development (graphics programming and engine work, unity) but my curiosity wants me to explore. I want to "MAKE" something.

I was trying to make my system dual boot. Somewhere I forgot to remember the BIOS password. I could still use the unlock code to access the BIOS but I notice that
#1 My bootloader isn't in the boot order list
#2 If I try to change the boot order it isn't persistent, changing the moment I shut it down. As you can imagine that's not really useful...
