It's JIT, without doing any run-time profiling etc. Which kindof rules out any kind of inter-function optimisations that a modern C compiler with link time optimisation and profile guided optimisation might do.
It makes sense, given that he wants it for an everything-has-access-to-everything os, but I wouldn't expect competative performance.
