Just wait for 4 more months and get a S9 for 650 usd instead of paying 950 usd for this phone.

too large to fit in my deep pockets even
too hot to be safe
no homescreen button
can you even replace the battery?
is there even sd card support?

It's not great. It's amazing.

>too large to fit in my deep pockets even
Yes but they advertised it as a phablet

>too hot to be safe
That'd be the glass back, which is vital for wireless charging

>no homescreen button
Wait until they figure out how to embed the home button into the screen. They're trying hard.

>can you even replace the battery?
Technically yes

>is there even sd card support?
Yes, SD card support of up to 256gb

How can you reach the fingerprint sensor? Even if you can reach it, how can you avoid smudging the camera?

Large is cute. It sticks halfway out my pajama pockets but that's ok.
I don't use fast charging and it stays cold to the touch all the time
I wish the bixby button could be a hardware home button
I can pay someone to replace the battery in a few years when it starts to misbehave
Yes really good SD card support and even works with usb c card readers for full size sd cards

This, that fucking s pen is like jerking off.

The only problem I see with it is manlets can't enjoy them.

But why are we unironically starting to care what sub-humans think?

are there any legitimate sources or are we still at rumor levels? for the s9 in 4 month i mean, not the price

>Wait until they figure out how to embed the home button into the screen. They're trying hard.

Actually they have force touch enabled homescreen button in s8 and note 8 so if you force touch bottom screen you will go to homescreen.

This is true actually, and it has haptic feedback like the iPhone home button right under he screen with variable pressure levels

S9 is going to come in march as it does every year.

There is only one rumor that im sure of that is a 1000 fps camera like in sony xz1.

Camera in S8 is same as in S7, they are going to update it this year.

Other than that a better processor with Ai chip which is going to be standard in all 2018 phones, Also as it will come with oreo it will support project treble which means faster updates, im sure it will be better in every possible way and lets hope they change finger print scanner location

>what's wrong?!
Besides the fact that it cracks if you sneeze on it? Nothing. Its the perfect phone for normies who like putting an inch of rubber casing around their phones. For those of us who can think, and prefer our phones to last a day without hitting the juice, there's pic related.

gsmarena.com/samsung_will_reportedly_build_its_own_1000_fps_camera_to_challenge_sony-news-27323.php

so, no source beside "i said so"
gotcha

>Large is cute. It sticks halfway out my pajama pockets but that's ok.
gay. and not okay, i dont want my phone flying out of my pocket just going down the stairs or moving at speeds slighter faster than walking, phones aren't supposed to be cute, if they were you'd buy hello kitty faggotry instead of something meant for business/productivity.
>I don't use fast charging and it stays cold to the touch all the time
have fun having 5 hour charging times i suppose, also the phone gets extremely hot under usage, and not just charging.
>paying someone else to do something you should be able to do easily
it's like they didn't learn their lesson after losing BILLIONS of dollars the first time they instituted non replaceable batteries, this shit is literally tech cancer. fuck wasting money on something that's easy to do yourself. P.S the person replacing the battery isn't liable if they break your phone in the process. have fun paying another $1000 just to replace a faulty battery.
sdcard support is all it has? wonder how long that'll last...
>That'd be the glass back, which is vital for wireless charging
bullshit, they just need to use thinner/different plastic where the inductive materials are, but they can sell more phones by having easily broken backs so they opt for that instead.
>Wait until they figure out how to embed the home button into the screen.
??? they have a touchscreen and a fuckhuge bezel on the bottom, this is a non issue they've created, it wouldn't be an issue if they just had more buttons on the sides and made the full front screen realestate.
>Technically yes
not without much hassle.
>Yes, SD card support of up to 256gb
wtf? there's no difference between being able to support 64gb sd cards and TB sd cards, why would it only support 256gb?

>they can sell more phones by having easily broken backs so they opt for that instead
If you're not retarded you won't have that issue. I have never once in my life dropped a phone because I pay for my own shit and realize I wouldn't drop a computer screen on the floor, so why would I be stupid enough to drop my very expensive phone? Also what is warranty.

>not without much hassle
So, technically yes.

>why would it only support 256gb
Because if you want storage you're using a phone wrong? If you want 5tb storage in your phone, buy a cloud service or desktop and stick hard drives and then just host your own cloud. What the fuck you gonna need more than 256gb+64gb onboard storage? And if you say flac I'll smack you because solid state storage on phones.

rotational velocidensity is still a thing on solid state storage, just in another form.

They also launched 2 new smartphone camera sensors, one might end up in S9
news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-new-image-sensors-bring-fast-and-slim-attributes-to-mobile-and-iot-applications

S9 is going to be 700+

>also what is warranty.
are you retarded?
having a phone sticking out of your pocket will easily go flying out of your pocket. especially with a smooth as fuck glass back. you're a retarded shill as everyone already know physical damage isn't covered by warranty, fuck off.
>So, technically yes.
with much hassle and risk of breaking the entire phone, yes.
>brags about having a computer in his pocket
>wants to rely on slow as fuck easily stolen offline data storage to make use of his phone computer and his data
why am i even responding, this has to be bait by a shill.
>What the fuck you gonna need more than 256gb+64gb onboard storage?
just because you're a NEET cuck who stays in his moms basement all day doesn't mean the rest of us don't make use of office presentations or take plane rides around the world. (HD movies are fucking huge, emulators and game collections i've amassed over the years are huge)
stupid shill faggot. it's not my fault you're too stupid to realize what large capacities are good for.

rounded corners why

Rounded corners give better protection when the device falls. also probably because of comfy feel in hand

>Calls someone a NEET
>Plays games on a fucking phone
Wew lad

>Makes a claim with no evidence...
>Into the trash it goes.

>taking your monitor and gayman PC with you anytime you travel
wehw lady
not only that but have you seen how large movies/t.v series are these days?
they're fuckhuge, and i'm not going to waste the power/time/money transcoding/downsizing them (and every attempt i've made at doing so has failed miserably anyway)

At least they're less rounded on the Note8 than the S8 and S8+

Note 8 is the best phone of 2017 unironically.

Those are neat but Samshit made them not universally available.

Don't run with your phone outside of a zipped bag.
>Implying I'm not using a hello Kitty theme
>5 hour charging time
I think you mean 1.5, which is totally fine because I'm extending the overall life of the non-user-servicable battery
>It gets hot under use
Which of us owns the phone? Sure it probably gets toasty when benchmarking but mine doesn't get hot under daily use, even keeping all of my app open all day every day, practically using the recent apps button as my home screen. I don't do serious "gaming" on it but I emulate gba and ps1 and obviously the phone doesn't even respond in heat or battery life.
>The person replacing the battery isn't responsible for breaking the phone
>Living in such a shithole third world country where you don't have Samsung-certified techs nearby who will buy you a new Note 10 if they harm your phone even aesthetically
See pic related

I would buy it to replace my aging Note 4 but...
> small battery
> shit fingerprint sensor placement

Maybe next year, who knows.

>small battery

Yeah but it gets 8 hours or more of screen on time. Who gives a fuck how physically small it is. Look at battery life figures you retard.

It's okay user, you can drop the facade.
We all know you're the real NEET loser here, it's not hard to spot.

> resolution that the Note 4 already had since 2014
> WOW!

There's more to live than paper specs in phones. This display is the best looking one to ever be in a phone.

HDR10, 1000 nit brightness, 141% sRGB, 112% DCI-P3, 100% Adobe RGB, as well as being far more energy efficient. Hell the Note8 1440p panel managed to get ~8-10% more power efficient over the S8 panel which only came out a few months before, just imagine the efficiency gains had over 3 years since the Note4.

I am tired of this "but muh soc" bullshit. How many times have we been tricked like this? "Bruh it's just numbers, the real-life", yeah as soon as you buy one the real-life fucks you in the ass without lube.

> Note 4 that has a "regular size" battery? It lasts a day or less.
> S3, S4, S6 Edge and S7, S8? Lasts a day or less.
> Mate 9 that has a big battery? Lasts 2 days at all.
> P10 Plus that has a big battery? Lasts 1.5days heavy use, 2 days normal.
> Z3C that has a big battery? 2-3 days easily.

How many times I heard this. Yet, Samsung in 2017 simply has an artificial brightness "lock" where you get a warning if you go above AND the resolution is sub-par out of the box. Job well done.

The iPhone X also has HDR, doesn't it? Not an Apple guy, had a 3GS last time, just saying.
I would be happier if it came with a proper sized battery. Samsung went so tought "oh wow we will check shit thoroughly". Fuck no, they just bent like pussies and downsized batteries to hell and back. Job well fucking done. "Well duh, if we put 500mAh batteries, they won't burn." ... Excellent engineering.

Not saying the Note 8 is not a good product. But it's not worth the money.
Maybe by the time of Note 9, Samsung will return to the S7 Edge battery proportions. Now THAT phone will be worth your dime.

>S8? Lasts a day or less.
Note8 has been regularly getting me 7-8 hours or more of screen on time.

You're a retard if that doesn't last you almost 2 days.

>The iPhone X also has HDR, doesn't it?
Since it uses a Samsung OLED yea. But it's still worse than the Note8 panel since Samsung always keeps the best for themselves.

* The Exynos Note 4 tested to be godlike. People posted 8+ hours of SoC. In reality, it was closer to 3.5 hours.
* Tests always say Samsung is best - because they use AMOLED panels - and tests use movies, things with dark background. That shit is never accurate.

However. Whenever I tried a "proportionally large battery phone" such as the S7 Edge, Mate 9, P10 Plus, Z3C - they always lasted fucking long. And yeah, it's not about numbers - not about the review / published ones. But the battery.

> Retard
Read my post.

forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/note-4-battery-thread-t2893547

All the threads prove my point. Yes, people posted on XDA how their brand new phone lasts 8 hours. I bought an Exynox Note 4 - never lasted 4+ hours. Then again I did not have stupid expectations.

...

...

>Phone prevents you from blasting your 7am eyes with 1200 nits
>This is a bad thing
>Literally crybaby complaining that the default brightness setting out of the box isn't high enough

Holy shit dude self monitor a bit

Yeah, people also ran black movie loops on XDA to make the Snapdragon buyers salty.
But if you just google "Note 8 battery life", you will see 4-5 hours or so.
They praise it, because 4-5 hours is big from such a shitty small ass battery.
But battery degrades - and good luck swapping this one out.

Again I have a Note 4 and a Note 2 on my desk - they are lovely devices. But don't believe the bs.
In the past you could have purchased a ZeroLemon battery for example, but those days are gone.

That's more or less just the screen running idle. See my post's start.

What? What kind of "don't microwave your cat" tier bullshit is that?
That's like saying "dude if you put your hand in a fire it will burn so your stove should not be that hot out of the box"...

It was me reading a book all day, I never said it was 3D gaming or something, but it's not a black screen, which would have given far longer screen on time.

It was a sepia background e-book where the only real power draw was the display.

paying for additional sensors and egenomics that I didn't ask for

To be fair, 1000 nits is FUCKING bright, and you could damage your eyes if you happened to wake up and turn it on to a pure white image or something.

Not likely or anything, but there is really no reason you would need 1000 nits indoors.

I am not saying that's bad. That's just ... average. The Note 4 did the same or better, and it sucks. It is far from all day, it barely lasts a day if I have to use it for work at all. Meanwhile, I can kill the Z3C or Mate 9 all fucking day long and they won't drain. It's not rocket science but batteries.

Well the Note 4 also works like this:
- You have a max brightness on manual.
- You have a max brightness on auto AND
- If you go outside or the phone detects very strong light, it will crank up the brightness even more than max (colors get washed out a bit but it's worth it ofc.)

I think this behavior makes sense. But anyhow. My phone should not babysit me for fuck's sake.

same shit with the Note8

Nigger all you have to do is drag up the brightness slider. How fucking stupid are you.

Your oven also has a temperature knob. What's the issue with your ability to interface with basic technology? I thought I was on Sup Forums

>trusted reviews

wew lad

i hope you were memeing with that one and not actually serious.

But reading a book barely fairs as "normal use". You usually browse the web, chat with someone, call people / text, use apps, location, gps, music and so on. These are all hogs. Screen reading is simple because there is no CPU or GPU load whatsoever. Just wait a few weeks until you start to use apps and whatnot...
I would return the phone if I were you. That next year is closer than you think.

There are gazillion links out there, I just linked a few. I also had Gsmarena there.
> inb4 all liiieeeess

Ive been using the phone daily since september 6th.

I think I have a fair idea how it will be in daily use.

it's literally the best phone of 2017. Name one phone that is actually better.

You can always say you should wait, but waiting is for women and cucks. Buy what you want.

No one said "wait".
- Sammy, S8+. Affordable, same shitty fingerprint sensor, same battery life, just less money.
- lineageos: OnePlus
- Battery: Mate 9 / P10 Plus.

>- Sammy, S8+. Affordable, same shitty fingerprint sensor, same battery life, just less money.
Good job ignoring the literal point of the Note series, the fucking Spen.

What the fuck is wrong with faggots like you? You just completely misconstrue facts to fit your opinion, or just HAPPEN to leave out slight details that make your opinion far less valid. Makes your entire argument go to shit since you're obviously stepping around the truth.

Fuck off faggot i'm done here.

I dunno dude to us it looks like you're just calling new phones shit for the weirdest reasons that make it seem like you've never used these phones to justify being on an older model as if we care.

Nigger I own a note8

>what's wrong?

T O U C H J I Z Z

also should I buy it with the SexyNose or SnatchDragging chip?

thx famalam xoxo

touchjizz hasn't been a problem since 6.0

At worst it has a meh app launcher than can easily be replaced with nova

SexyNose can be rooted and TWRP recovery installed.

But you're still locked down due to Knox and locked bootloader.

SnatchDragging has an FM radio and slight GPU advantage, but doesn't have TWRP (though I think it has some form of root available), and is also locked down with Knox and locked bootloader.

to be honest I don't really need root, adaway is nice but I can live without it
I'm interested in VR porn, I don't know if that makes a difference or not

what's the predicted lifespan for the devices?

Also Samsung should make iMessage texts puke orange

DNS66 gets rid of ads without root anyway.

No difference for VR porn, both should work great.

Note8 is expected to get 2 full android version updates (from 7.0 to 9.0) and should get monthly security patches at least until the Note10 launches.

After 2 years of support all bets are off.

show me a phone that takes 1tb cards.

Nigga I own a Note 2 and a Note 4, what the fuck are you talking about?
All I kept saying is that the Note 8 is just a waste of money due to the shitty battery size. Do you even read nigga?

The Note 2, Note 3, Note 4 - all good purchases. Note 5 was a meh upgrade. Note 7 was worthy - but also flammable. Note 8 is shit. Maybe Note 9 will be good again.

Exynos always had a bit better performance and better battery life.
Snapdragon always had more custom rom support.

But yeah, backported new firmwares always arrive. That said, a Google Cardboard would work for VR Porn on any phone. But if you must buy a Note, any older Note will work with the HMD thing. So..

Note7 and 8 are identical besides SoC, cameras, RAM, and screen edge.

So what you're saying is you think the edge screen is a meme.

Wew, i bet you haven't even used a Note8 which has much less of curve than the S8 or S8+.

The Note8 has an Spen, so they curved the screen closer to the edge to make it have a larger flat space to use the Spen with. They also made the sides and corners more squared off compared the the S8 and S8+

compare this to the OP image.

The note8 is honestly better than the Note7. I had a Note7 preordered and I preordered the Note8 too.

>Wew, i bet you haven't even used a Note8 which has much less of curve than the S8 or S8+.
I have been using the edge meme on my Note 2 since the Note 4 Edge came out. Have Edge on my Note 4 as well thanks to the Note 7 firmware. But it's yeah, pretty much a meme.
Used my S-Pen to play Zelda and Ace Attorney on DS emulator, that was the only use I could make out of it during all the years. I have a Note 2014 10.1 - that devices HAS a use for the S-Pen. But the Note phones are just too small for drawings or taking notes s or anything really.

If apple let people use the apple pencil on any phone, the note would be gone

>better battery life
yeah that's basically the decider for me
thanks Sup Forums

>"big" iPhone is 5.5"
no thanks small phones are useless

Yeah I bought the Note 4 Exynos because it was the same back then.
Snapdildo had a better GPU (bit) and more XDA roms. But pajeets always made shit roms, and Exynos also received backported roms (basically you can install the Note 9's, Note 10's firmware on your device and have all the software features. I have a Note 7 rom now with S8 features on my Note 4.) I would not worry much about GPU, you can use "Game Tuner" to run games in FullHD, and beautiful games lag on 2K either way.

> Samsung Note with iOS - now with rechargeable S-Pen
Oh boy, just what the world needs!
