Where is the catch with Chinese devices? This one comes with a stock android, so there is no Chinese malware pre-installed.
Where is the catch with Chinese devices? This one comes with a stock android...
No software updates and shite hardware, shite CPU, shite camera, shite everything. Buy a Nexus
>there is no Chinese malware pre-installed.
says (You)
Chinese botnet. Hail communism.
> there is no Chinese malware preinstalled
kek
pulled trigger on one, we'll see
shit build quality with cut corners
>Snapdragon 625
>Comes with Androidone
>4GB RAM
>$240
how is that shit? I'd rather risk it and get a chink phone than a bootlooping LG Nexus
kek faggots paying up 800 - 1000 usd for the meme phones when it's all chink shit
Never use the ROM with which it's shipped. Always use a FOSS ROM no matter which device.
FOSS ROM what are you implying? That it's free from 10 year old root exploits or doesn't have HW backdoors?
Any.
Feel free to submit patches if you feel it isn't secure enough.
>submit patches
to HW designed solely to function as a backdoor, top kek
>No software updates
How are you saying this while recommending one of the most developer and custom ROM friendly devices?
>shite hardware
Surely no micro SD card slots and the lack of a 3.5mm jack are great hardware additions to your phone. Inevitable bootloops are also a great added benefit.
xda-developers.com
>shite everything
Great argument. Really detailed one too.
Nexus is dead you stupid goat fucking imbecile.
What is LineageOS?
The chinks really need to step their game up.
I have a Redmi Note 3 from january 2016. It's practically identical to the a1, apart from a few meme upgrades and a battery that lost 1/4th of capacity.
from my experience the build quality is cheap and they cut corners like having a weak camera or poor speakers for calls
>Where is the catch with Chinese devices? This one comes with a stock android, so there is no Chinese malware pre-installed.
-compatible frequencies
-future updates
-root/rom-ability
-build quality on some, and issues with warranties. (it can be a pain to get a replacement if granted one).
Really it's not much different from buying a phone domestically since companies fuck you over with updates, and warranties anyways, so in my opinion they are a good deal if you can find one that works on your network, and has root/roms available.
Look at oneplus, they didn't even bother to hide their botnet, just sent all your shit straight to a hadoop cluster.
Its the perfect cheap Nexus device. Comes with two to 3 years of updates. Runs Google version of android 7 and has their official support.
its better than an iPhone 7 dumb nigger
>compatible frequencie
Just because America uses 3rd world frequencies does not mean the whole world is retarded. It works perfectly fine in a first world country like India
>This one comes with a stock android
Except it doesn't. There is no 'stock android image' that a manufacturer can just install on their phones, they have to build from the AOSP source providing the necessary drivers/config/etc. for the hardware they've chosen. So it still ships with a version of Android build by the Chinese manufacturer, not by Google themselves.
Idiot! It comes under Android one Program atleast in India. So timely updates directly from Google.
The catches
>it WILL report everything you do to the Chinese government (see recent Oneplus scandal)
>you're taking a risk with grey market goods. Expect minimal support and you WILL be Chinked if you try to return the device
>lack of Android updates, but then that's not really a problem exclusive to Chinese phones
>mediakek processors
If you don't mind these you can get a really nice phone for the price. The choice is yours.
If you are incapable of researching custom ROM support for a device you intend to buy and refuse to ask anyone to help you, it's your fault. Not that any of this is hard to do.
Loads of Xiaomeme phones use Snapdragon though
lol no it isn't
if it can call its not really foss
You can get a moto z play for 200 at gearbest. Don't buy that.
It's launched under the Google's Android one so basically software updates are promised by Google and not xiaomeme
There's not a catch except for mediatek processors that are unfriendly to rom development. Meizu uses excellent displays I prefer them over xaomi
The catch is the warranty service is terrible, if it gets to you and something is broken you'll have to send it back to China for repair or refund and it could take up to 3 months to get your device or money back. Then there's also customs fees that are not included in the sale price, so depending on where you live it could get jacked up by another $30-$50+ in addition to the price of the phone and the shipping.
Add in the fact that they're usually running mediatek garbage with zero developer support means there's no guarantee you'll ever see a software update. And then there's the shitty QA/QC because you don't know if it was assembled in a factory or some random dude at a kiosk.
Chink phones are a risk. You may very well get totally screwed and end up having to disassemble and repair it yourself (though for some autists here that's a pro rather than con), and you'll probably have to deal with weird software bugs. HOWEVER there's also a reasonable chance that you might end up with a decent looking phone with damn near flagship specs because it wasn't made by a company with shit tons of overhead, and the parts literally come from the other side of town so it costs very little to actually produce each device.
This. The only real difference between cheap chink phones and the "premium" brands is the "premium" brand will have service centers on your continent, but they also have to staff them which is part of their overhead, hence why a $20 phone gets sold for $150 by nobody chink companies with no overhead, but Google and apple charge $1000
I'd rather use a dumb phone than living in that shithole. Jesus, I'd rather have no phone at all than having to live in that pit of po.. I mean hell.
pff, lol
>Implying a rom makes a line of phones not dead.
If there's a latest version of Android for an older device just for the sake of it, but is otherwise unusable, then it would be reasonable to conclude that support for that phone is done.
This guy explains a lot about what the various risks are to buying Chinese smartphones. Though I hate the gay ass Guy Fawkes mask on his thumbnails, he's really knowledgeable on the subject.
Research and get a usable device. You can't expect an S8 equivalent in every department for 100 $.
Chink phones can't do this
Aww boooo you're right.
Oh... Wait... You're using a chink phone anyway, you just don't realize it.
Thanks for proving my point. Enjoy being blueborned straight in the ass with your curry rom :^)
Enjoy having vulnerable closed sourced blobs.
cve.lineageos.org
Now STFU.
why would you ever trust some pajeet and use his modified rom?
probably chinese botnet or backdoors for data collection
Also if it has a Mediatek SPU it will probably run like shit
Just make sure you do research before you buy
>Epic Pajeet buzzword
You don't deserve to be taken seriously.
>bluehorned
Why would that ever happen? I don't use Bluetooth for anything at all. That's kind of a requirement for bluehorn.
Now, kindly kys, you tranny namefag scum.
See
shitty display and battery always
>NEXUS 4
HAHAHAHAHA I have this phone when I poor AF..
isnt this a oneplus 5?
Build quality is questionable. Other than that, they're great.
t. Redmeme 4X owner
(You)
Hardware backdoor that sends all your texts to chinks
this shit is fucking hilarious, all those plebs fucking uploading their every tap back to glorious china
There isn't one. Previously with Chinese products, you had to deal with crappy software, but the compartmentalization of software and hardware that Android allows means all the Chinese do is provide cheap labour and fabrication of common hardware.
I have a Redmi Note 4, bought a Redmi 5x for the wife still costs collectively less than than an iPhone SE, the cheapest iPhone.
As far as performance and build quality, it's far better than a plasticky mid-ranger from Samsung and also less bloated and way snappier, even after a year.
Seriously, I couldn't recommend it more.
are Xiaomi phones like Note 4 or Mi A1 really built better than let's say Samsung A5 2017?
I have some doubts, but even if it's true, what kind of difference does it make?
Unfortunately Meizu devices generally have poor ROM support (I have one with exynos, literally one guy making half baked ROMs for it, surprised we can even unlock bootloader).
>Where is the catch with Chinese devices?
They have hardware side PLA backdoors. Otherwise they're a fairly ok deal.
the government spies on you anyway, regardless of OS.
Your only defense is that you simple a spec of sand in a large beach of data and, even if you're downloading illegal shit, they probably don't care.
They are probably just watching for legit terrorists and making sure you aren't distributing CP.
>India
>first world
Pick one.
Honestly I feel they are, even though they don't have gorilla glass, they have better batteries and a more solid frame construction and look way better imo.
The main benefits I would say are the less bloated software and extremely competitive price. I could buy two of phones for the price an equivalent Samsung.
The plus side for a Samsung A5 is basically amoled screen and slightly better camera, which aren't as important to me.
>tfw nexus is no more
The Xiaomi Mi 2 has had official security updates for 5 years. Your garbage phone got 2 at most.
when you buy chinkshit, sometimes the distributor will flash their cooked up rom with adwares.
download the official rom and reflash.
