I worked in a company that had a VR playroom and I tried it out. Only thing I liked was Serious Sam, other stuff not that much.
Your head gets sweaty, content isn't interesting for now. Basically all that was fun was developing a game/simulation for it, nothing else. I can understand it could be helpful for some stuff, but it's not more enjoyable than a fun fair; visit once and you're okay.

Exactly why I'm shitposting about VR as much as I can. Whoever would fall for that crap should not be going into our communities and I'm going to try and keep it that way as much as I can.

I bought the Rift almost exclusively to play H3VR (ok, and porn). As a britbong with no access to guns, it's been a joy. Put over 100 hours into it so far. Now, some sort of VR chat crossover with H3 (shooting range + social element) would be fucking awesome.

Seeing that there's like 20 new VR headsets releasing in the next year by major tech companies, is there any standardization yet? I know Rift was trying to literally lock developers onto their platform with patented APIs, unethical contracts, and lawsuits.

There's no real standard, but Unreal and Unity solves that problem for 99.9% of developers. You just enable a bunch of plugins.

Microsoft's Mixed Reality thing was originally not supposed to run Win32 software, so that would've been the exception. But they backpedaled and added SteamVR support.

Wait for new vive. Vive is probably the highest quality headset you can get for roomacale right now, i havent heard about a vive version 2 but i imagine it is even better. Id say to go with the oculus if you dont need a roomscale experience
