HTML
it's used by 1 billion of websites
JAVA BECAUSE POO
Markup is not programming.
JavaScript
it's used by 1 billion of websites

I swear Sup Forums is filled with morons who don't know what programming is
Markup is programming
rc

C
Scheme
Shilling not needed
it's just a name dude
I like python because I'm new
Rust
Rust is a pipe dream
If you care about AI you program in Lisp
TriggerScript
It is basically a JavaScript interpreter implemented in JAI but lacks strict mode.
You can use it to trigger Jon Blow because he hates JS.
X86 assembler
Unless you have developed webapplication with assembly front to back, pls dont call yourself a programmer
kek
I "like" PHP because I don't know anything else
HN hates Go because of the terrible type system.
Scala. It's maybe the only "newer" language that is successful in production across whole market segments.
Scala has a very strong niche in big web servers, big data, big processing.
That it's still a moving target is an advantage and disadvantage both. Code maintenance is quite annoying, but it's probably also the most generally "production ready" FP language. The frameworks you need are there from Scala's side and Java's side.
C, because anything else scares me.
f#
Lots of Google employees on HN who shill anything google.
Gentoo is the best programming language
Python is king of the programming languages
C.
Don't need to.
Kernel (klisp.org
Once you get used to first class environments and operatives, other languages feel like a huge waste of time.
There is literally nothing wrong with php
Ruby, because it pays my bills and is disgustingly cute to use.
I prefer the right tool for a particular project. But my preferences are C and python.
That's a small language on the ultimately very MS specific .NET (a platform that itself currently really does not look like it'll ever rival Java again).
I guess it found some love with C# developers, but it's not exactly dominating any billion dollar market niches, is it?
Scala is. Huge hardware deployments are set up to run software with Spark & friends. Scala's Play, Lift, Scalatra and so are the main engine of quite many website names you'll probably recognize, and Scala also powers production services quite many websites under the hood.
Php ofc
C++ no shill needed
yes, no shill can save its reputation
Let's all love PHP
foreach
+1 for haskell
C#, because $$
C/C++ for system applications
Clojure for code monkey money
Perl for quick prototyping and scripting
A tool for the job.
