There's technically already another /sqt/, but OP called it SMALL Question Thread for some reason.

Any Software engineer's here ? How do you find the project's your working on ? What's the job like ?
Interested in the field and would like to get Sup Forums's thoughts on it
Going to post in both threads, just very interest what Sup Forumsods think

What are some intensive non AVX workloads that will be stressful enough to test a CPU overclock? Due to Intel toothpaste I'm just hitting TJMax literally immediately in programs like Prime95 and IBT, so they are useless as a stress test program due to downclocking.

I've sortof finally gotten a girlfriend, but have doubts and need advice from fellow autists
Pro's: >She thinks I'm handsome >She will go to great lengths for us to stay together >Accepts my autism >Not completely retarded >Someone to talk to >Nympho >Probably also into anal >Interesting personality >Ok body >Not autistic, can teach me normie tricks
Cons: >Slightly odd shape face >Not sure if she actually thinks I'm funny >She's fun, but not really funny
What do I do? Am I just afraid of committing? Her face doesn't bother me when I see her, but she's not really 'cute', like a 6/10. Somehow I'm more afraid of judgement from my friends Then again I'm afraid I won't meet anyone for a while again

I am working on an integration between HPE/Microfocus uCMDB and another CMDB which I will not name. It's very interesting to learn how to REST API and parse xml. The downside is that you face many Java exceptions and Indian 'engineers'.
Tyler Ramirez
What's a good burner laptop for cryptocurrency? Are thinkpads still good?
Christopher Bell
>slightly odd shape face You're lying to yourself, if you think it's just 'slight', chances are you're blinded by lust and she has a REALLY misshapen face. I'd recommend not going out in public with her if you ever want another girlfriend.

I'm a noobie to server stuff, so I'm going to ask this:
Windows has a built in feature to share files over a network, why use a server operating system instead of "regular" Windows, like Windows 7? Is there more to it than what it seems? I have a NAS running Windows 7, and it does the job. Is it the stability of server operating systems?
Jaxson Thompson
for a home file server, you might not need anything more than a workstation version of windows but there's more kinds of servers than just file servers
Cooper Morris
Anyone knows where I could find a clean, virus-free Windows XP SP3 iso with a serial. I found an old P$ machine that I want to repurpose, but I need to wipe it clean with a new install before proceeding. WinWorld has windows up to 2000, but no XP for me.

I hear some video games render shadows on the CPU instead of the GPU for some reason (Gamebryo engine games like Fallout and Skyrim), does this mean that increasing the resolution would increase CPU load?

How do I change the printer icon in CUPS?
I'm running a CUPS 2.2.1 on a GNU/Linux server I get this butt ugly icon when I add the printer on my mac. On CUPS 1.7.5 i got the beautiful OSX standard printer icon
I found the icon in a generic.png file, deleted the fucker and reinstall the printer on the server and locally, but i still got the butt ugly icon. I've also taken a look at the obvious config files in /etc/cups, but i didn't find anything there
Jonathan Howard
who'd bully such a cute loli!?
Zachary Walker
> cups > loonix Pick one.
Eli Taylor
What exactly do you mean?
Blake White
Best program for a .bin+cue? It's a game. Would have gone to Daemontools but apparently the free version has adware in it.
Colton Gonzalez
cups is the defacto print server on linux as well no idea about changing icons, though, never felt the need to on linux, it just uses a printer icon from my icon theme, so it fits nicely by default

Is there a better CFW for the Nook HD+ than what this nigga: forum.xda-developers.com/nook-hd/development/marshmallow-nook-hd-hd-t3239269 puts out? Seems he hasn't updated in a few months and the battery life is shite with me having to recharge it every 3 days even when I don't use the tablet once in that time besides for quick tasker scripts. (99% of usage of it is as a sort of backend for amazon echo or dash button triggered scripts to automate stuff around the house)
I guess there's the old CM builds but those had a bunch of bugs that made it less usable when I wanted to actually use the tablet for something.
Cooper Scott
Thanks
Jason Evans
Oh, should mention I'm using AOSP since Lineage had some issue a while back, not sure if Lineage has better battery life now but I'm not eager to have to wipe everything again to switch over. Always assumed AOSP would have more battery life anyway since it's more "bare bones"
Jaxon Garcia
> adware I believe that you can just uncheck the box.

How many of you recommend me to use virtual memory against the problem of always running out available RAM to use? I remember reading some comments on Youtube before that said it only serves to make some programs run faster, not make the whole OS run faster and never receive the warning message of running out RAM?
Henry Murphy
Is there any advantage for using FreeNAS or other shit over Debian in my use case >want SMB share + authentication through active directory >single 2TB disk for now >disk is behind a PERC >would run in a VM on loonix host with KVM, whole disk passed through to the VM (but the disk is still behind the raid controller)
current setup is a small debian VM with 2 cores and 2GB of RAM and the drive is in ext4 and runs samba, is there any advantages with other solutions and how do i determine how much RAM my server should have for my simple file server purposes
Justin Moore
>She's fun, but not really funny That's a big con in the long run
Gabriel Williams
If you ever get a warning saying your RAM is low then it's time to get more RAM. You shouldn't rely on virtual memory because that just slows things down and if you have a SSD then excessive page writes can use up precious write cycles.
Charles Reyes
if I leave my cpu on at 100 degrees 95% load for 80 minutes how much damage will this do to my i5 4460?

What's the best way to mirror a phones screen to a laptop to use as a "TV"? Spent all night yesterday trying different ways and the best app was vysor, it connected via usb so it had almost no delay. The problem is that it has a monthly subscription if you want to mirror it at anything other than 144p. It needs to be retard proof because it's going to be used by my father.

I purchased a $10 VR headset and I have it working with my phone but apparently Google cardboard does not work with Android 5.0. Can I use any other VR video app in conjunction with the pornhub app? What does Sup Forums recommend? Sorry if I sound like an idiot.

Check out the EdX sysadmin courses. After the basic you need to pay but you can find the scrapped course online for free.

in c/c++, how to pass char as parameter?
void a(char x[]){}
a("what");
pls halp
Juan Flores
Well depends. I have loonix so I just install the OpenVPN support package and GUI implementation to the Network Manager program and I can just grab an .ovpn file and connect.
In Windows and Mac I guess it's easier to download a software for connecting using OpenVPN.
Brayden Gonzalez
Do you use at least C99?
Carson Martinez
i dont know as im programming for arduino
Nolan Hernandez
Thunderbird is actually perfeclty fine. Try it or Google alternatives.
Ian Fisher
Well int a(char a[]) { return 6; }
int main() { a("abc");
return 0; } is perfectly valid.
Charles Harris
Thanks
Camden Ramirez
>a("abc");
deprecated conversion from string constant to 'char*' [-Wwrite-strings]
Caleb Myers
i need a simple normie friendly network monitor. It should also possible to block and modify http requests.

What shit tier compiler gives that output? It only sicards the (anyways implicit) const qualifier. Still is valid even in C11.
Cooper Brown
But it shows up as "green" in that black and white pre-boot-up thingy before/after bios.

>passing a string as a char I didn't realize C was this strange

Seing his example he probably meant an array of char.
Oh my bad I should have mentioned it's OpenVPN for Android

Why fedora doesn't ship: vlc, kdenlive, ffmpeg, mpv, flowblade etc? I read this fedoraproject.org/wiki/Forbidden_items?rd=ForbiddenItems And ok, I understand why they doesn't ship e.g. nvidia drivers and proprietary software in general. It's ok. But mpv, vlc and ffmpeg seems like completely free software and did nothing wrong. Why?
Aaron Green
That's an arduino thing then.
Blake Powell
Literally download the program in the Play Store. It needs no config, just import the .ovpn file.

What would be the most logical step-up for a power supply, as someone with a 500W Bronze unit? My current video card is a GTX 960. Been meaning to upgrade, but not too keen on shelling out ~$400 for a 1070. I want a more powerful GPU, but with my Ryzen 5 1600x (Got it on sale for less than a Ryzen 5 1400), and my plan on getting a used 980 Ti for $180, it will put me too close to the 500W of my current PSU, so was hoping to upgrade it at the same time. I know efficiency and wattage aren't everything, I gotta find a reputable brand that uses good quality components and such too, but I'm just trying to get a general idea. Buying the card off a friend, so I mostly know how well it's been treated.
Isaac Martinez
Because those software packages ship with codecs that might not be legal in all countries, as they are covered by patents.
Cameron Allen
Ultra settings are overrated. Stick to 960 until GPU singularity next year.
Jonathan Mitchell
I'm gonna be straight Sup Forums, I got a used Galaxy S3 as a substitute for my recently broken phone and find that it can not launch Fire Emblem Heroes without crahing either on start-up or on the loading screen. My S3 supposedly supports the requirments that the game needs but crashes regardless. I need any fix for my phone to improve it's performance and have already attempted to have Lineage OS installed on my phone(unsuccesfully). Please help.

Hi Sup Forums
I'm thinking about upgrading my PC, I want to run The Witcher 3 in ultra, smoothly. Here is my spec What should I buy if I only can buy one component? A better GPU or a better CPU?
Juan Perry
Get a firewall
Levi Thompson
Just thought I'd take the opportunity. He's selling it since he had 2 of them in SLI, and is now moving to a single 1080 Ti.
Alexander Young
My overclocked R9 280 (no x) can run Witcher 3 on ultra at 35 FPS. If GTX 970 can't run it at 60 on ultra, I dunno what is what.
>I'd say RAM desu
Jordan Murphy
GPU, your CPU is fine for gayming.
Brody Butler
Yeah then it's obvious to get his. If you build your own pc, you should always want at least 750 PSU, no matter what. Ryzen loves RAM, buy ram, can't have too much ram.
Ryder Morales
I'm kinda afraid to overclock, I heard stories about how it fuck the computer up (I'm still a beginner in computers)
Thanks man, what GPU would you tell me to buy? People told me the 1070 doesn't worth it but 1080Ti is damn expensive
Joshua Williams
It's not next year. TSMC and GloFo won't be ready until early 2019.
Hold your butts though, even AMD's terrible scaling Vega should be sitting pretty at close to 3Ghz on 7LP.
Colton Perry
The 1070 is fine if you really can't afford a 1080, it should be able to run it how you want it. Or upgrade your CPU to an i7 7700K.
Aaron Butler
I have this problem, whenever I try to play a .ts live stream on vlc it just stops after 20/30 seconds and then keeps going again. I increased the disk and network caching size and using different sourches without useful results. any help?
Ayden Clark
Sucks that i have to use three different programs, wireshark for monitoring, iptables for blocking, fiddler for http traffic
Caleb Reyes
With this /flt/ fucking retard cancer, do we really need /sqt/ and /SQT/?

t. dual boot pleb
Brayden Clark
If you want to debootned an android phone as much as possible, is it necessary to flash a new rom or is rooting and replacing all apps with f-droid ones enough. How much of a difference is it?
Cameron Ward
Yeah, already got my RAM sorted. 2x16GB Corsair LPX running at 3000MHz. Just had no idea for the PSU if I were to go for the 980 Ti, so decided to come to the only place I know. So for $60, which would be better: >EVGA Supernova G3 750W >FSP Hydro G 750W Or, for $90, I could go for a Corsair AX760. I generally know what to look for with other components, but not a clue about power supplies.
Evan Sullivan
Install mpv.
Some VPN services offer ovpn files as a connection method. A free VPN service that has ovpn files is gatevpn, but you won't be able to shitpost in Sup Forums with most connections as they are banned constantly. If you can afford it rent a service.
Nicholas Gonzalez
Linux uses a different file system then windows so none are very good at being easily readable from windows.
Jack Carter
Ez way to re encode 1080p animu to 720p?
Wyatt Jenkins
do I need a specific configuration to solve the caching every 30 sec, with mpv?
