which I've been looking at for weeks. NSW is almost clear now except I can't figure out where Wollondilly and the surrounding areas should go

how did you not find this earlier? This is the most credible source out there.
I also cross checked nsw.gov.au/regions with rda.gov.au. They are mostly the same apart from these areas;
New England North West is called Northern Inland for RDA
The RDA South Coast and Southern Inland are mushed together to create 'South East'
In nsw.gov.au/regions a new region was made out of LGAs in Southern Inland to form Southern Highlands and Tablelands. Wollondilly belongs to Sydney. Upper Lachlan, Goulburn Mulwaree and Wingecarribee are the only 3 LGAs that go in this new region
alas.org.au might help somehow I think.
With adding together Western sydney and Blue mtns with Greater sydney, would make perfect sense, ive literally never heard of western sydney being its own region, its pretty fucked lets ignore it and add it with Greater sydney.
Everything else should stay the same.

First thing I got, but the regions weren't well-defined in the map, only got around to reading some of the pages in detail and searching for corresponding regions recently

Never was strongly against that at all, just asked whether it was official desu since I wanted to know if Greater Sydney was an officially defined region. IMO if a flag is unofficial but commonly used there shouldn't be a problem adding it. Case in point: Oxfordshire, Bornholm, etc

I've developed a bad habit of binge watching anime into the wee hours and sleeping in till nearly noon

Going to start rolling my bedtime back over the next few days and try and fix it

An image alteration program like Photoshop or GIMP

Here's my attempt at this, although I must warn you that it's imperfect - there are regions where unwanted lines of a slightly different shade of white will remain and make the fill look shitty

A little extra time in MS Paint / whatever can get rid of these, but you'll need to do that - two especially bad countries are Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina - lines all over the place when you try to fill them

I'm going to make a truly clean version today
