If you want help:
>State the budget & currency for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, try to include information like response time, refresh rate, resolution, and size

CPUs:
Intel still uses shitty TIM on its new CPU if you are overclocking consider delidding. Only Z370 boards are available right now so non-k 8th gen cpus are rather expensive to build with right now.
>Athlon X4 950: The only viable poverty-tier chip right now, it's usable for low-tier 1080p gaymen with like a 1050Ti, and basic functionality.
>i3 8100/R3 1200 - Good budget CPUs.
>R5 1600 /i5 8400 - The sweet spot for gaming or multithreaded use CPUs
>R7 1700 - Best value for multithread performance right now. 1700X and 1800X are a waste of money if you're not afraid of overclocking.
>Used Xeon/Threadripper: Workstation-tier CPUs, don't go for the i9 because they only beat TR when you get to the 7940X and above, and really need delidding.
Cards:

Graphics cards (particularly Radeon) are still priced high because they were eaten up by miners a while back.
>GT1030/RX550: Poverty-tier, medium-high 1080p.
>1050Ti: Good budget GPU for 1080p.
>Used 980Ti/1070/1060 6GB: For entry level 1440p/low settings 4K, these are the cards to go for. 1070's still pretty damn expensive, so a used 980Ti would ultimately be the better choice.
>Vega 56/1070Ti: The best for 1440p 144hz, Vega 56 with a flashed BIOS and OCd beats the 1070Ti and Vega 64
>1080Ti: Ultra 3440x1440 gaming at over 100fps, the only 4K card.

If that pic makes me horny does that mean I'm gay?

i7-7700k is still a great choice since the Coffee Lake CPUs are impossible to find and inflated with price.

hello user
you are on Sup Forums
people here think that traps are good because someone memed them into programming
virtual reality will end up in t2o neckbeards making up
or gaylords pretending that they suck cook in public
so yes you are gay

think about it like begin in ZONE
when you are there you are a STALKER if you spend too much time there it will sick yo you
so just don't spend too much time there

my budget workstation bulid
help me finding a GPU
i need one that will support most drivers but won't be too powerful (cause i am not playing AAA games)

Don't buy the biostar am4 itx mobo go for the asrock one.

You do realize tesla cards are the new hot thing?

pcpartpicker.com/list/9ZgKWX

Thanks

Whats with all the DVI shit on graphics cards

I meant display port fuck me

is this ssd in good conditions? should I buy it?

It's for bandwith higher than HDMI can allow.

but why 3 display port? can any gpu handle 3 144hz monitors?

what's with ddr4 prices? when will it stabilized?

Depends on the application I supposed.

I am close to pulling the trigger on a Vega 64 since prices are MSRP now, but looking for some thoughts from those who have one.

>Freesync 4k
>Game at 4k (no, not everything has to be ultra + 16xAA)

I am debating over the liquid for an extra $200 trump bux. GPU user bench suggests I get +7% boost for $200. At 4k, the extra frames would be beneficial although freesync is there to help out.

I prefer cooler temps over higher and less sound over more. I am also wondering to what extent will undervolting the liquid give me any other gains that the air 64 could not offer.

Thanks :)

Is it possable to build a ryzen system running win 8.1? Also how bad is the snooping on the LTSB version of 10?

What is the best possable setup to run mainstream AAA games day one and still have privacy useing a modern system/OS.

Right now I've a rig with a i7 7700 and a RX 470, pretty alright to play at 1080.

What would be a great upgrade? GTX 1060? Wait for the next nvidia gen?

If you're going with 8 you might as well go 10.

>What is the best possable setup to run mainstream AAA games day one and still have privacy useing a modern system/OS.
Linux + IOMMU setup to run Windows in a vbox with GPU passthrough

Wait for next gen, then move to something that can reliably do 1440 if you can afford it.

thx user

i5 7400
8GB ram ddr4 2133MHz
H110M-K
500W psu
250GB ssd

Will it be good to use for office use? Need one and it's about 350€ on ebay for new.

hey guys im an idiot is this stuff enough to get 60 fps in witcher 3 on high settings or something

also i have the rest i just need these

>Linux + IOMMU setup to run Windows in a vbox with GPU passthrough

Thoughts what I thought. what is the % of native performance lost doing this? is it just the CPU performace you lose out on?

>If you're going with 8 you might as well go 10.
Is 8 that bad then? I thought it could have it's temetry removed? the only reason I mention 8 was because it's support is going to last longer but i'm happy to use 7 as well.

Don't buy that CPU or that mobo

For performance penalties, see the reddit link. Unfortunately you'll need a second GPU for linux to use (either Intel's integrated or a burner card).

The passthrough GPU is dedicated to the VM while configured properly and the only way to reclaim it for linux use is to reboot with it not configured for passthrough.

If you're going to botnet it up in a VM I wouldn't really care since Windows won't be your daily driver. Hell, you could use multiple Windows if you want.

Anyone use ULMB? When is it appropriate over G Sync?

Good god that's a lot of shit I don't fully understand.
Is this even viabale to do for someone who has never used Linux? will this get easier in the future?

Vega shit

suggestions pls theres too much potential 'do not buy' things out there

U mean like excel spreedsheet office work? Yes, its good

$200 for a liquid cooler? WTF

8400 is you can find one, otherwise ryzen 1600 or coffeelake i3s like the 8350k

If you're good at following instructions, yes. Friend of mine recently ditched windows as his daily, first time on linux went straight to Arch and got passthrough working. You can also always ask questions if you have trouble.
However, I don't think it's unique to Arch. I've seen a Ryzen+Fedora setup on youtube. Quick googling shows that Ubuntu (the babby's first linux) can also get it working fine.
I don't have much knowledge on it other than the surface level, so my help ends there. If you want to commit to it, it'll be 99% research and 1% following the instructions/what you're told.

And I'm not a fortune teller.

msrp is 500 and msrp liquid is 700

What socket type should i be going for? LGA2011-3?

Ahahaha. Why? It's like a $50 premium at most on Nvidia cards.

ok ill get the 8350 i3 that looks good to my amateur eyes. also what mobo would you recommend for that?

>i3
>4C/4T in current year

also will 650w be enough power?

pcpartpicker.com/list/HWfGr7

Is this build obsolete?

pcpartpicker.com/list/f84jwV

Not anymore

*sighs (unzips)

What CPU would you recommend to support my dignity?

Isn't the CL i3s all 6 cores?

Yeah Coffee Lake beats it for $1600 off.

ark.intel.com/products/126689/Intel-Core-i3-8350K-Processor-8M-Cache-4_00-GHz

Imagine being so butthurt at the G4560's existence that you created a new thread to shill a CPU that's objectively worse in every way.

I forgot about that lol. Thanks

thoughts?
pcpartpicker.com/list/ZkW6kT

The Athlon? What's wrong with it?

It's definitely good as a cheap way into the AM4 platform while getting a functional PC out of it.

It performs worse than my old fx 6300. Why would you wish that upon someone?

The FX-6300 also costs more and is on a dying socket.

Will I be dissapointed if I get 24" 1080p 144Hz instead of 27" 1440p 144Hz? Note that only TN panels are available for the 1080p.

Haven't kept up with the PC building world since I went to college 4 years ago.

what's a good monitor with great color + small bezels? I'm doing a setup like pic related

you own a macbook?

no I just mean the monitor setup. I'm doing a mini itx build with a node 304

Jesus christ i give up someone put me down
pcpartpicker.com/list/7Rq9bj

i wanted it for gaming and occasional low quality streaming, no video editing
and under 1500

What's the problem?

>pcpartpicker.com/list/7Rq9bj

You need a cpu cooler.

>poptarts

Doin' Sup Forums proud user.

checkd
Need a cooler and have no idea what to pick and wondering what i can shave to put down costs the only thing i want is that 1080
Ill also need good cooling coz i live in australia
Are the parts i picked even good?

Nvidia is a cuck?

I'm a complete brainlet for motherboards.
I want ryzen 1600, so I should get a AM4
And I only care about 2 ram slots, so it should be micro ATX
But what else should I be looking for?

Oh you weren't using the AU subdomain. Hope you didn't plan on importing: au.pcpartpicker.com/list/7Rq9bj

The case is the easiest money saver.

There are a few mATX with 4 slots if you really care.

We don't do multi-monitor anymore. We have one big one.

White or black?

I'm from Mexico.
What are some good sites to buy parts from besides Amazon and Newegg?

Black

interesting. what are the advantages of one big monitor? I've seen pictures of the ultrawides.

fuck outta here

No bezels of course.

PCEL, cyberpuerta, Intercompras and nettbee

idk if this is correct to ask in /pcbg/ but its hardware related so...

I have a Samson c03u condenser mic, which it doesn't have power off/on button. Is it correct to use an external usb switch or it will destroy my mic?

The fx 6300 is fucking terrible and the athelon is worse. Thats the point

Anyone have some recommendations on good external hard drives? Seagate's got some high ratings but I remember them having pretty high failure rates as well.

au.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZfjhVY

Still on the pricey side not planning to buy until January though so hopefully stuff will drop

Oh and what flavour pop tart for a new buyer

I am gonna be using this second hand Sandy Bridge build until Ryzen+ releases and maybe then I will upgrade. For now I decided to OC the hell out of it, but...

I got it stable at 4,5GHz 1,345V
then at 4,6GHz 1,370V
now I am running Prime95 at 4,7GHz 1,400V

Cooling it easily with an NH-D15 but I guess I have lost the silicon lottery, right? According to various sites, vcores should be way lower for these clocks. Or am I missing some important bit?

And its an i5-2500K, im officially retarded

Is it wise to buy Intel CPUs off eBay from China?

babby's first gaming pc

pcpartpicker.com/list/7p4jwV

cookies & cream best in the game

Alright ill start trying to find a supply

pcpartpicker.com/list/tgy9bj

No that's good for Sandy I think.

>intel i5
just get a ryzen 1600 instead

>recommending unobtainium coffee lake

and so does ryzen the i9 has shit gaymen point being?

no its just shit

>and so does ryzen
doubt.jpg

...

looks good although check if there are RX580 8gbs for the same price since they are faster, otherwise it looks good

has this joke gone too far

just make the jump to a ryzen 1600

I dunno do they taste like shit?

I'm more of a strawberry unfrosted casual

pcpartpicker.com/list/zGz9bj

here this build is far better than yours and like $100 cheaper

the i9 is shit and you seem a little brazillian thinking otherwise

much difference between AMD and Intel? i was told dont bother going AMD for just gaming unless youre gonna be overclocking and something about linux crap

kek

...

Not a 7980XE

Not a 798XE and holy cherry pick

What's a good option for the Raspberry Pi 3 for cooling/case?
