Do phones count?
ben nannonote with usb keyboard
but they are to priecy for their specs
336 MHz cpu
32MB dram
btw the laptop on the pic is comfy af
a netbook
anything smaller and you're going to be unconsciously looking for an out wherever you go
Pic related. It's actually a bit too large; I'd be twice as happy if it were about half an inch smaller on all sides.
That's adorable. Still, I'm kinda tired of using laptops, so for me it's a NUC.
>and you're going to be unconsciously looking for an out wherever you go
what?
which NUC is your favourite?
As someone who has used a Brix for about a year let me tell you that you'll never want to go back to hearing any fan noise.
It does make me realise how little difference is made in normal usage in even a Celery processor, but I wish I had some more expansion room in terms of storage.
When I get the space to have a proper PC unit I'll probably get a case small enough for just one 3.5" HDD and put two 2.5" in its place (an SSD and a HDD).
>Celery processor
daily drive yourself off a cliff, faglord
Yes. Celery, as in the bland vegetable. Get it?
Anything smaller than thinkpad's X series is unusable, at least in a comfortable sense . I wouldn't use something as a daily driver if it was uncomfortably small
X61
damn i think i'm becoming gay for Linus
As someone who had to use an 11" CRT for a week until I got a new screen, it's not the size that's the issue, but now low to the desk it ends up getting at that size.
Ayy slack
Here's a complementary photo
for me it's the keyboard that makes it uncomfortable, if the screen has a lot of DPI it can be small (as long as I can read it normally)
But if the keyboard is too small I can't use my hands naturally and I don't want to work in such environment
How wide is that keyboard, because I can't imagine it being much thinner than the keyboard on a 4:3 15" laptop in terms of dimensions.
the X series keyboard is just as wide as the T series one, it's that they trim the excess around the keyboard to make the laptop so compact. For me the T series is a bit more comfortable because there's more space for hands and palms to rest, but I would not mind working on a X daily. It's comfy + thinkpad keyboards are probably the best keyboards quality wise
I own those type of laptop (Sony Picture book) and might be the smallest
laptop I could use if you don't mind to have a slight reduce typing speed (keyboard is a bit smaller than the standard laptop keyboard) , and don't mind a resolution up to 1280x600 (the 1st one have 1024x480 resolution). Anything more smaller than this will become harder to use for normal work.
Of the current generation (NUC7), I really like the i5 NUCs. The i7s don't bring much more to the table than the i5s and run hotter and thus louder. Admittedly, the i3 NUCs are probably strong enough for many uses (2c/4t, 2.4Ghz, no turbo), but my use case includes heavy multi-tasking, compiling, some virtualization, etc.
Besides the i5s, I also like the Celeron/Pentium NUCs - if you want to use a Raspberry PI for some task but don't like its limitations, I found these can be worth a look. They cost more than a PI, of course, but they can still be pretty affordable.
My hearing is pretty sensitive, but I found a NUC7i5BN with fans set to quiet to be pretty tolerable even under sustained load (i.e., compiling Gentoo packages). Admittedly, it's not my daily driver - I don't think I'd get tired of its fan even if it was, but who knows.
I use a X230 with an external monitor as main computer and I can confirm. The keyboard is normal sized.
x270 (12.5"), I would try smaller but I haven't found anything that catches my attention.
I think he meant outlet
they handed out those linx 2in1s when i was at school once. that thing was awful to type on, and the touchpad was microscopic.
on the other hand, my main laptop is 12.5", and i think that is as small and as big as i want to go
I'm a simple man.
Plus this is enough to remote into a computer at home if I need it.
lelnovo thinkpad X230, 12.5 inch is good but the resolution is just bad
Do I have access to a NAS on the local netowrk or does everything need to be in that one machine?
>9 inch
>2gb ram
>quad-core atom
Something that's 11"-12" with a fhd screen, 4gb ram, a i3-xxxxu, a 250 gb ssd and decent battery life would be perfect. Obviously running Arch with Awesome, it'd only be used for shitposting, porn, music and maybe some movies. Now that you got me thinking about it, maybe I should try finding something like that.
Dumb LARPer. You cannot use a touch screen "keyboard" as a daily driver.
