I've used 7 ever since it came out. What are some actual benefits to upgrading to Windows 10? Are there new features that you actually use? Are there legitimate performance improvements? Have they actually improved it with recent updates?
Windows 10
You get better advertisements tailored to your unique and individual character.
Also, Microsoft employees regularly check your system while it’s running for issues. It’s great and everyone should switch as fast as possible.
No difference in performance compared to 8.1/7. The only thing win10 has is DX12 which is utterly irrelevant even for gaming. There's no reason to upgrade other than being on a network which sysadmin forces you to.
I always update to the latest Windows, whether I know about it's new features or not. Because there might be features that I don't know I want but are included.
The only bad Windows upgrade I ever had was Vista, which had some weird bugs at the time related to my sound card. Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 were all seamless.
it supports new hardware, that's the only legit benefit.
>Because there might be features that I don't know....
Yes, tons of them and they are all there to violate your privacy and freedom.
Literally a Russian propaganda meme.
UI is better than default Win7.
You get the pleasure of knowing you're using an OS from 2017.
That's.about it.
dx12
much better scaling if you use highdpi display
speedstep technology for skylake, kabylake and coffelake cpu
faster startup time
better driver support
>Are there new features that you actually use?
WSL.
Better aero snap, especially with multiple monitors.
Virtual desktops.
More of a hardware manufacturer feature. Or anti-feature if they decide not to support an OS that still has three years to go.
Not gonna lie that's one of the main reasons I'm considering upgrading. Windows 7 is starting to show its age a little bit
Can you blame Russia not being fond of the U.S. government stealing data from their citizen/companies/government employees? It's much more weird how all Americans just suck this shit up.
Fuck off commie shill.
>UI is better
That's like, your opinion.
It's confronting, isn't it.
Communism will never work.
Better USB3 performance (UASP)
Approximately 10% less power usage
More efficient use of other system resources like RAM
This isn't even about communism. It's about a government warning it's citizens about a foreign country spying on them.
If these are key then why the fuck are you not running GNU/Linux?
Microsoft watches everything you do and provides services to you that fit what you watch on the internet and the way you behave. They might also recognize you when you use another Windows 10 machine based on the websites you visit and the pattern you type when you write (speed, commonly used words and that sort of thing) so you can in the future always get your configurations follow you seamlessly wherever you are. If the microphone is on they also constantly listen to your voice and the people around you and might learn who you are with and give you cool reminders like birthdays and so on based on the people you interact with most often.
>your choices are to run decade old clunky windaids 7 or spyware
>your choices are to run decade old clunky spyware or spyware
fixed
Yeah that's why it took MS half a year to support ryzen properly in win10 while it never had problems in 7. They even had to deliberately block ryzen in older OS via updates.
Well actually I don't know if they actually fixed their shit10 with fall update, at least they claim so.
Windows 10 is a meme.
The UI is insanely ugly, there are no actual benefits to upgrading, since DX12 is also another fucking meme. It's the opposite of lightweight, it's incredibly buggy, it's a full on botnet which sells your info to the Jews, it forces way too many things onto you and it has ads. Also Cortana which is spyware in a nutshell that nobody asked for. It has no idea how you're connected to the internet, and on top of all this it still features all of the problems with previous windows versions. It feels more like a downgrade than an upgrade.
t. Arch Linux user who ditched Windows a long time ago
At least they
hid
removed keylogger
Should I be worried lads?
Install Gentoo.
see right now I'm kinda going in the other direction, I'm a linux user who wants to become more normie
Is there people who unironically think there is a noticeable and worth to buy difference between Windows versions?
It's microsoft we're talking about.
Windows 10
Pros:
>better memory management
>some bundled applications that actually work, unlike in 8.1
>latest driver support (more of it out of the box)
>boots somewhat faster
>better multimonitor setup support
>unfocused scrolling without a third party tool
>some ancient software actually runs with less issues
Cons:
>worse support for applocale related tools
>several services provided just to sell stuff
>ads that have to be disabled
>apps that can be less responsive
>installs useless software automatically when it shouldn't
>cortana
>slow start menu to navigate through due to how big it is
>blurry fonts for some applications when using high DPI (there's a software that corrects this)
>changing settings related to UAC and default apps more times than it needs to
>prone to have issues with newer updates which are also required to fix the beta state the OS is currently in
>and of course the constant checking on what you're doing with your system
s/Pros/Lies/g
buggy drivers, buggy updates, random problems, random bootloops, random crashes
basically the best linux experience ever on windows
How so
Because everything in that list is not true? What are you even comparing win10 to, win3.11?
>Because everything in that list is not true?
Whatever floats your cocaine boat
bugs where your mousewheel scrolls horizontal suddenly
creepy stuff where your harddrive turns on when in idle and monitor is turned off, RM reports no activity ofc
taskbars on two monitors
How do you even rice Windows 10
You still have to rely on that stupid tool that removes the ribbon in the file manager and half the applications use a font that cannot be changed at all. It's annoying.
You get cute ads right in your desktop, an antivirus which u can't disable and a reasonable amount of nice telemetry services. It's a win-win ;)
Pro tip: install gentoo.
Seeing this thread infested with Microshills.
Same for me
> Upgraded to Win10 a few weeks after release
> constant bullshit from Win 10
>installed openSuse along Win out of curiosity
> even more Bullshit from Win10 like reversed settings after update
> Fuck it. Formated HDD and installed Arch
Win10 is the best reason to install a Linux distro, because Win10 makes it ridiculously obvious, that Microsoft gives a shit about the user and just tries to force you to use their services.
I'm still using Win XP. I'm thinking eventually what I'll do is get a chromebook for web browsing and continue using the Win XP machine for everything else. For me "everything else" is primarily note-taking with WordPad.
I've been been using W10 for around a year and still haven't seen a single one of those personal advertisements. Does it actually have integrated system ads?
dx12
do you have pro? i've got pro and never seen a single ad either, maybe it's a thing for home or unregistered versions.
