So I want to use an egpu and pass it trough to a windows vm. Is this possible? If yes, which windows version should I use? I have no idea which windows version is the best for games and 3d modeling in terms of performance.

Shoulda bought a RoG... and btw why use linux -.-

>why use linux
>clearly windows vista

This site has an age requirement.

This is why you buy a Macbook.

yes

wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PCI_passthrough_via_OVMF

that's 7

>you buy a MacBook so that you can do an EGPU passthrough
???

Yes, wh else would you buy one?

Yes, and you'll want to use Windows 10 for the best performance, sadly.

>in terms of performance
there would be a considerable amount of input lag

newb

It's gonna be shit. Just get a desktop computer.

Get out, underage b&.

vista doesn't have a dedicated aero peek

Is possible to put a GPU in a laptop?

1. Yes, but you'll need a second monitor or a different output
2. windows 7 without updates

mxm slot

This

Thunderbolt is basically external PCIe

It's possible, if you have external PCIe cabling (i.e. Thunderbolt)

>only MACs have Thunderbolt
Are you retarded?

Nice quote, too bad you're not quoting me or anything I actually said though.

I was assuming that you are since both posts are in favor of buying garbage-tier hardware just because muh Thunderbolt

Show me a good laptop with a tb3.0 port. I've been looking for one but can't find shit except for some retarded expensive shit which is damn near the point I might in fact as well get a mac (which would come with 3x as many ports).

Windows 10 has the best driver, game and hardware support.
So go for LTSB.

GPU passthrough is shit though. Enjoy your shit.

t. literally paid pajeet.

First of all I wasn’t. Secondly, that poster didn’t say that only MacBooks have them, only that they do have them.

i see the future, anons... it is beautiful

There's plenty of laptops with PCIE on board which have extenders for x16.

Stop being a useless troll.

as long as your IOMMU isn't fucked you should be fine
7 pro or 10 N LTSB,

System76 Galaga Pro. It's a Clevo but I don't know what the model number is. It has plenty of I/O besides the thunderbolt 3 too. afaik it's 4 lanes pcie. You can also use adapters for pretty much any laptop pcie port, like m.2, mPCIe. The one that leaves the laptop somewhat still portable is EXP GDC, you'll have a cable sticking out though. But I've seen people cramming it inside dvd slot so it doesn't look weird.
