I want to buy the Haf XB Evo, can anyone that has one tell me how is it over time?

Over time it will accumulate dust cuz this case is shite m8

even with a fan pulling air from the top and custom filters on the sides?

I have the older one without 2.5" mounts
I like it

Can anyone tell me how much of a performance increase I'll see going from a data ssd to an nvme one for rendering with blender. I can't find any benchmarks on the etopic. The cost to go from a 850 to 960 is pretty significant for the 500gb versions and way higher for the pro.

how is the hot swap bay? does it get too hot in there?

Depends on where the bottleneck lies. Are you actually rendering it fast enough?

i want to make some changes on my current build, can only afford one thing atm.
should i buy new gpu. 1050ti, or 500gb ssd?
currently with gtx 750, no ssd

get an SSD

An SSD will massively improve your desktop experience. A graphics card upgrade will massively improve your gaming experience. Pick which is more important to you.

An SSD will also require OS movement fuckery (if you use it as your daily) so if you get it down prepare for the headache

Anyone here using Fractal Meshify C? How's the noise level in comparison with Define series?

The thing I'm interested in is when all the GPUs ram is used it needs to cache it right? So then will it benefit from the huge speeds of a 960 evo? I'm using a Vega 56 so I've only got 8gb which won't be enough for some scenes. Renders take ages so I don't know what you mean by fast enough.

How do I clean my PSU? I'm upgrading my PC and I want to keep my current PSU, but it's pretty dusty. Is it the same as cleaning a fan (hold the fan in place and use compressed air)?

I'll let you know on Thursday when I get mine. My define 5 is dead silent from 1m away. Meshify will be louder I imagine, but computers aren't that loud these days anyway

Ye. You could take the fan off of it and clean it

Thanks in advance, I got define S myself, but considering jumping to Meshify because of them airflowz and shit, also cool looking darkened glass.

Idk the glass is the one thing I don't like about it. I was considering getting a panel from a define c if they're the same and just replacing it. Though at the same time tinted glass has grown on me, looks a little more professional.

retarded question but mounting tape that holds up to 10 pounds would be stronger than one that holds up to 5 right? mounted my modem on the wall and it feels like it will fall off soon with the 5 pound tape.

>Water block for chipset
should I buy?

don't open the PSU

How long till I upgrade my 6700k

Is water cooling a meme?
>Risk of spillage, potentially destroying your components
>Extremely expensive
>Loud
>Requires a lot of the case's space
>Requires refilling

Aio cooling negates all that

All AIOs are shit tho

No. Chipsets use so little power these days and airflow inside case can deal with the heat generated. If you wan't to go full watermeme you should get water block for motherboard VRM.

really long

it's a hobby

Can't you just use a vacuum over the back grate? While PC is powered off obv

Best file server build? Preferably cheap on both the wallet and power consumption? Preferably no more than €200.

Almost purely for NAS/Back Up uses. MAYBE play around with light VM work.

I live in Ireland so import/shipping costs etc.

>Risk of spillage, potentially destroying your components
Pretty much all non-noname brands offer full replacement or compensation if their units leak during warranty. I have never had an issue with a water cooler or heard anyone who had. Custom loops can obviously be prone to leaks too, but anyone who does not test those for leaks when starting up system for a first time are stupid.
>Extremely expensive
It's as expensive as you want it to be. 100 bucks gets you a decent unit with 240/280mm rad.
>Loud
Same can be said for air cooling. Water cooling ends up with better temperatures when normalized for noise.
>Requires a lot of the case's space
Actually requires less space. Some of the big noctua coolers take so much space you end up with clearance issues for RAM and other ports like EPS 8pin and sometimes even the top PCIe slot. Water cooling avoids this by moving the radiator away and only requires support from the chassis. Also water coolers apply a lot less force on the motherboard and the socket, remember the bending skylake chips with big air coolers?
>Requires refilling
Good AIO units have around 5 year warranty and refilling custom loops is not too big of an issue. Even air coolers are not maintenance free, since both types of cooling are affected by dust and aging fans.

Tower air coolers are bit overhyped. Yeah they beat some of the lower tier 120/140mm AIO units but start to lose pretty rapidly when going against even the cheapest 240/280mm units.

I plan on getting a 21.5 inch 1080p monitor for gaymen (Acer R221Q) but Im worried about seeing the pixels, I sit fairly close to my monitor, would I notice them?

Cool ty

In personal experience I haven't had too much of an issue. I use a 1080p 24" 240hz Benq monitor at around 20" away from me and only in few games" I can see some pixels" when the anti-aliasing in the game is bad. I also have a 21.5" monitor as a secondary that I used as primary a while back and had no problems with it. So you should not have issues with a 21.5", unless you are one of those people who "zoom" in on the monitor while playing. Pic related

Not if you do it properly
Not that expensive, like $500 for the best stuff
Loud? Is it?
Space that's being used for..?
Refilling, OK

You gain silence under load and way better temps

Its a joke most of the time though.

I have a gtx 980ti. EVGA Classified model to be specific. I can get up to an overclock of 1600mhz on air cooling. My buddy's girl just bought him a gtx 1080ti for his birthday so he now has an MSI GTX 1070 going unused. He'd be willing to accept $200 for it. Is it worth it?

In terms of reliability and performance are there any differences between the mitx matx and atx am4 boards? I remember back in the day Marx boards tended to be hot and mitx were overall shit, now idk. Ideally I wanna over clock it though and I hear the b350 chipset isn't the best for that

No, a 1070 is barely an upgrade from a 980 Ti.

Yea I figured as much. Thanks

Not really. But I don't use my HDDs constantly

Depends on the games you're playing. Probably 1050Ti

Long time

No, 1070 = 980Ti

uATX is great

What are the signs of a dying HDD?

I upgraded my desktop a few months ago and installed my OS on my SSD.
I kept my 7yo HDD for storage but it is starting to get unresponsive.
Sometimes it takes a few second just for opening a folder.

I have one. I love it.

Problems I have with it:
>Cable management is hard, if your SATA cables aren't long you won't be able to route them under the motherboard tray and they'll stick out the side like in pic related (red cable)
>Overall cable management is hard, you won't be getting perfect cable management unless you spend a lot of time, zipties and tetris. I ended up just putting most of the excess cables under the motherboard tray where you can't see them.
>Limited drive space, it comes with 2 HDD mounts internally (I have 2 SSDs on one and 1 HDD on the other) and with 2 HDD hot swap bays. I'm thinking about getting another hotswap bay to expand my hard drives. You will be limited if you have lots of 3.5 inchers.
>Airflow is really good, but it also sucks up lots of dust. The case is very open, with every side having grills that let both dust in and noise out. My Vega card is especially loud on this case.
>However the bottom area of the case is not too well ventilated, so you should expect kinda higher HDD temps, at the same time drives don't interfere with CPU/GPU area airflow so it's a tradeoff
>As you can imagine, it's wide. So if you don't have a square space where to put it, it can be a problem.

Pros:
>Horizontal motherboard tray, excellent visibility of the components
>Very good airflow with good fan placement
>Looks really good
>Building on it was easier than I thought, but not as easy as some other cases
>The PSU is mounted on an intermediary system that makes moving the PSU to add extra cables if you get new components very easy
>The grip areas are reinforced by metal, so it's solid and easy to carry/move around

Personally, it's my favorite case so far. I really like it and I'll keep using it for quite a long while.
Overall would recommend.

Happens to me too. You can try changing power settings.. Windows turns off the HDD by default when it's not being used

The 1700 over clocks to become a 1700x right? Why is its tdp so much lower then?

I don't know about the TDP but they basically overclock the same. 1700X is just higher binned and has higher stock clocks out the box and a faster XFR range. But both overclock about the same. I don't think you can do more than 4.2Ghz stable with a 1700X, but don't quote me on that.

Alright, I will try that.

TDP is lower because it is design power, not potential power. Clocking all eight cores to 4 GHz is a big step up from the baseline.

ECC RAM for Ryzen:
dual rank vs. single rank?

Most seem to be dual rank

Because my (very) old PC's video card has died I will be buying parts for my futureish PC and give my current parts to my a lot younger brother. I just won't be buying a new GPU yet, because it seems like it is better to wait for a while and I really don't need one anyway.
>tl;dr everything but with a GPU, yet future proof so that it will work with whatever new GPU that I will buy in a year or so. Also I am in a retarded region, so prices and availability of things vary. The idea is for gaming, but I don't even play games that much any more, so probably everything is an overkill. No plans for overclocking.

Seems like even the newer GPU require less and watts to run and even the 1080 requires less than my current gtx780. So PSU-wise a 620W PSU should be fine? I am thinking about SEASONIC SS-620GM2 or SSR-650FX I am only not sure if it will have the needed cables for a future GPU.

Ryzen 5 1600X seems like the choice for the price. Please recommend something else if there is.

How worth it is it to go DDR4 for RAM? I am thinking between Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2133MHz and Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400MHz or Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400MHz with the the last two obviously being cheaper. Are the DDR4 mobs backward compatible?

I have no idea what to buy for a mob. My previous mob had a very good wifi/bluetooth card with it, so if possible I would like something like that again, because I need a second good wifi/bluetooth card. The only one available here is ASUS PCE-AC55BT and the quality is questionable. Maybe something no more than ~150-70 USD. The cheaper the better. I am looking at the ASRock X370 Killer SLI that also has wifi/bluetooth, though integrated, so I can't pull it out. No idea how good the connection would even be.

What brand HDDs and SSDs would you suggest?
I get the feeling that I would be overspending like a motherfucker.

Because at stock configuration 1700 consumes less power than 1700X and thus makes less heat. 1700 runs all cores at 3.0GHz (+0.1GHz with XFR) while 1700X runs all cores at 3.4GHz (+0.1GHz with XFR). TDP is just there as a guideline for cooler requirements at stock configuration.

The overclock is never guaranteed. Sure, you can get it to run at around 1700X speeds but with propably higher voltage than stock 1700X and most likely higher temperatures. People like to recommend 1700 over 1700X and 1800X because the frequency ceiling is around 4GHz, but beware that the 1700 are most likely lower binned than 1700X and 1800X so they don't clock as high. Realistically when staying at max 1.4V you should expect around minimum 3.7-3.8GHz on all cores, although every chip is different and your mileage may wary.

Windows turns off HDDs when they are not in use for X amount of time. The option for that can be found under Advanced Power options.

Looking for a new vidya card. My budget is about $150. Could go a little over if it will play Dark Souls 3 perfectly.

Any suggestions?

I have an Nvidia Quadro FX1800 in one of my machines right now. I now have need for dual displays but the monitors I have are both 1280x1024. This card has a pair of displayports on it and I know there are dp-to-vga adapters for it but I keep reading that using adapters may or may not work properly leaving me unable to set the correct resolution for my second monitor.

With this in mind, I'm looking at really cheap cards to replace the Quadro. I'm not gayming on this machine, but the ability to play the occasional game of UT2004, Tribes, or something like that would be nice. The QuadroFX 1800 is basically the equivalent of a Geforce 9600 GT but with 768MB RAM instead of 512MB. I'm looking at a cheap Geforce 710 as a replacement because they all seem to have a VGA port on 'em and 3x the cuda cores, thoughts?

>Marx boards
fuck off commie

Oh right, also some case suggestions would be nice. No more than around ~80USD.

Fair enough, the price for a 1700x from a 1700 is pretty big in Australia, I wonder if the extra $90 is really worth it. The 1800x definitely doesn't seem like a good choice. Fair enough though, if I get a shit chip that puts the mother board to waste.

Yea a gt710 would be a solid choice.

>If the extra $90 is worth it

No. The non X 1700 will have the same OC headroom and had the benefit of coming with a stock cooler that's no slouch. I bought the 1700X vs the 1700 because it was cheaper here

If the 1700x costs anything past a little bit more, don't buy it.

Which Vega 56 should I buy? They all look identical to me, like seriously is there any actual difference?

Why do you have a Quadro in the first place?

>How worth it is it to go DDR4 for RAM?
You have to.

Read OP. Most of your questions are answered.

gamegpu.com/rpg/роллевые/dark-souls-iii-test-gpu
A 1050Ti is about 150USD, and basically equivalent to a 7970/280x/960. If you turn graphics settings down you can hit 60FPS if your CPU is good enough

I assume the only Vega cards available are still the reference cooler versions? If so, get the cheapest. Although for warranty purposes, I prefer in this order.
>Sapphire
>XFX
>Powercolor

PC is a bit under rated. I owned their R9 290X PCS+ models and they were absolute overclocking monsters

Am I an idiot for wanting to buy a 1700x for $300 over a 1600 for $200? The goal is to build a high performance PC for editing porn.

Why X? Just get a 1700 and OC, save a couple bucks. (and a bit more if you run with the stock cooler)

>High performance
Okay
>Gaming
Well alright. The 2 sort of go hand in hand
>For editing porn
Nice. Definitely go with the R7-1700. The extra cores and threads will really help with video editing.

Whose porn? Home made?

reminder that you should buy a prebuilt and the hassle of having to troubleshoot this fucking mess isn't worth 50$

are you still that dude that makes videos for camwhores?

>Implying those same problems won't also plague a garbage pre-built using shit tier parts
>Implying you're not paying through the nose to get a PC of any comparable quality

It's ok user. Not everyone was able to get their PC to boot on the first try. Google your problem. Watch a video and try again.

The company I was working for threw out a bunch of them. They were used as the display cards for the company's bread and butter products and these were old dev/test machines being tossed. I have two of them. They have non-standard mounting brackets on 'em but I have it wedged in place. The Quadro replaced a Geforce 8400 but it's by no means the only Quadro or 3D workstation card I've owned. I used to do CGI stuff back int he late 90's/early 00's. I still have an Elsa Gloria II with the original Quadro on it (the NV10GL). I ran a Permedia 2 (STB GLyder Max 2), Diamond FireGL 3000, and an older Evans and Sutherland card that I can't remember the model number for.

you can send it back to where you got it and pajeetman will have to tear his hair out instead of you

PC is terrible for returns, they left me standard with a fucked card, took months to try and get a response. It seems MSI and gigabyte are also doing Vegas.

Although I have to ask, is now actually a terrible time to buy a GPU? It seems like Volta is supposed to have a proper release soon although I care more about Vega because of its blender render times.

*custom built.
Idk if its worth it considering usually all you get is a free mousemat. any component that fails is easier to fix on your own

Sfm/blender

Great. Now you get to be without a PC for good knows how long (god for is you actually use your PC for production purposes or as your money maker). And then there's the fact that Pajeet, like a slack jawed mechanic, may not even find your problem. Also I hope you bought the extended 2+ year warranty for the absurd amount they're going to charge. What will you do when your PC shits the bed in some way a year from purchase without that warranty?

Troubleshooting a PC is one of the most basic tech things you can do these days. Not everyone is technology illiterate like you. But whatever, different strokes for different folks. You like getting it in the ass from companies, that's on you.
>SFM/blender
Cool. Never knew someone who used that before for porn. Like someone who actively develops the videos. Always seemed like the vids just appeared here as WebM's. As far as buying Vega 56 now vs later, don't play the waiting game. Just get what works now. And that sucks you had a bad experience with PC. Go for sapphire or XFX then.

pcpartpicker.com/list/JBR3LD

What could I do to improve this while keeping the cost roughly the same (if not cheaper)?
It'll be my first proper gaymen pc so I'm not sure what I'm doing.

The hell is going on with the prices ?

Two different people, I don't make porn. I'm guessing we do the exact same thing though just animating and modeling.

Looks fine to me. Just be aware that some games may choke with only 4 cores to work with. And that I5 is going to run hot, even at stock. I had an i7-6700k and even it choked and stuttered when playing games like GTA5.
Whoops! Sorry user. Well blender seems to be the topic you 2 share. If you're the user who was talking about whether to buy a Vega 56, I'd say go right ahead from either sapphire or XFX. Don't bother waiting. Once you start that game it's hard to stop. The only thing worth waiting for would be if Vega is going to have custom cooler versions soon.

>Not everyone is technology illiterate like you.
you want to have a go with either of my problems? Because I already know you won't be able to solve either
>Now you get to be without a PC for good knows how long
I've been without a pc for 20+ days already now

yes, for $200 you can buy it off him and resell for at least $100 profit.
or you can sell your 980Ti for around $250-300 and still have at least $100 profit. Also when upgrading you'd be getting more money back from the 1070 because its a newer card.

These retards living on mommy's money have no economic sense so they go "duh its the same card why bother"...

So coffee lake is not coming for a while but somehow you are able to buy it now?

ebay.com/itm/232545773110
Is this a good deal?
A xfx 380x for ~$130?

>The non X 1700 will have the same OC headroom

Similar perhaps, but there's definetly binning seperating the three SKUs. The 1700s are the real garbage silicon that weren't fit to be the higher end models, and require more voltage to hit the same sort of clocks. You stand a better chance of hitting 4GHz at a non-destructive voltage the higher up the stack you go, with almost all 1800Xs managing it at 1.4V or less and almost all 1700s not, with the 1700X somewhere in-between.

Whether it's worth paying more for a few hundred MHz is debatable though.

Something wasn't in stock and it overlapped the blue line, when it came in stock again it raised the price.

Now for a little more I can get a 770 and it seems to get @54 fps.

Between that and the 1050Ti what would you choose?

It's out now. I think it is still selling out pretty quickly though. I was able to pick up an 8600k.

>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE

sorry, was just about to replace that outdated link with this one
pcpartpicker.com/list/nqVF7h

pcpartpicker.com/list/4t4LzM
Removed Kaby Lake because wtf are you doing.
The PSU is slightly worse but still fine.

You're right, and Volta probably won't come out properly until around April.

au.pcpartpicker.com/list/d7ynYr

Current build, I'm pretty sure it can't be beat for the price, I just can not find any benchmarks for the nvme drive vs data for blender rendering

Sup Forums doesn't know anything about RAM

God damn that's an expensive video card. I can get a Vega 64 for $500 here in the US.

No one answers because most don't know about ECC to begin with. That and not even I know if Ryzen officially supports ECC. Dual or single rank. Or more accurately, if there is a motherboard that will support ECC fully

What's the best budget mainboard choice for a ryzen 1200? I'm upgrading from an fx-4130 so I don't really care about overclocking potential as it should be enough of an upgrade without that.

Well I mean 500 is about 640 aud. But yeah its annoying as fuck that Australian prices also take into account a bunch of other shit.

It doesn't even make sense to pair ecc with a ryzen unless your handing sensitive data and in which case why is it on a ryzen platform. I mean it does support it but idk about board support.

Will a system be unstable if memory isn't on QVL list or will it simply possibly not run at stated speeds?
I have 2800 2x4gb LPX vengeance on my gigabyte ab350 Gaming 3

literal no OC jew: any a320
otherwise: b350/x370

b350 with 3200 ram support

>if Ryzen officially supports ECC
All Ryzen CPUs support ECC unofficially

>if there is a motherboard that will support ECC fully
Official support:
ASRock AB350 Pro4
ASRock X370 Taichi
Gigabyte GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI

>why is it on a ryzen platform
Why not?

how much does 144hz refresh rate really matter for a casual gamer? i'm speccing for video editing, so isn't investing in 1440p 60hz more worthwhile?

Yea O just saw now that it's in aud. Not usd. Still. That's pretty pricy.
Yes I know the chip supports ECC. I also know there a re certain boards that will physically work with and boot with ECC. But are the ECC ram modules actually doing their job? I saw forum posts and such done on Ryzen + ECC. Seems inconclusive thus far. If ECC is important, maybe consider the lower end Threadripper and X399 board. Guaranteed ECC there
