I've had enough of Windows 10 and the constant bullshit. Every feature update breaks something and causes problems. Advertisements on your desktop and start menu??? What the fuck?
Telemetry that cannot be turned off - what?
Why are people okay with this? I downgraded to Windows 8.1 just to get away from the madness. At least I can run all of my software without Windows deciding to download updates and install them when I'm using the fucking machine.

Anyone else comfy on 8.1 or 7?

mine works fine.

yet ive never fucking seen them
>You got a guide for that?
since youre so quick to google links to support your argument, why dont you do some useful research? except you wont, because youre just here to cry.

I'm a gnu/linux user but win10 ltsb sounds like it would work well for you. Then, you just need to ""disable"" telemetry.

>mentioning the fact that windows 10 will install feature updates and break drivers is somehow crying
My Lenovo 100S updated to the Fall Update and every time I use the trackpad in a full screen application the whole computer freezes. Windows 10 Build 1703 didn't have that issue, and neither does Windows 8.1.

There are many other issues I have and obviously not everyone runs into them, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. You might not have an issue, but a lot of others sure do.

I work public facing IT. There have been at least 3 updates this year that have caused operating system corruption on some level, and I know this because I've had to fucking fix them.

The "suggested apps" in the start menu is an advertisement, and in the ribbon of File Explorer it constantly shows an advertisement for OneDrive. I don't know what version of 10 you have, but I see these all the goddamn time, so don't fucking tell me the ads don't exist either.

Don't forget to mention that suggested apps are automatically installed.

Don't like OneDrive? Too bad, Windows will keep opening it every few hours until you finally sign into it.

Updates should never be forced. I shouldn't have to use third party applications to disable updates that fucks up my system.

Fuck Microsoft

>third party applications to disable updates that fucks up my system.
>public facing IT
Either youre full of shit, or youre shit.

Everything youve just described can be reigned in using group policy. If youre public facing as you say, someone should be administrating the group policy, and pushing updates via WSUS AFTER YOU HAVE VETTED THEM!

Your posts have done nothing to strengthen your position; infact the opposite has occurred.

this sounds like a you problem

Let me rephrase - Windows 10 installs updates automatically that fuck up the system, so I have to use third party tools to disable updates.

Either way you're wrong. You're just some sort of fanboy when you sit here and say
you're wrong
you're wrong
you're wrong
Lmao, you have no arguments.

>Windows 10 installs updates automatically that fuck up the system, so I have to use third party tools to disable updates.
group policy is not a third party tool. the fact you dont know you can prevent windows 10 from doing ANYTHING YOU WANT using group policy, as i said, demonstrates how weak your argument is.

windows has the tools built in. its not my problem youre too stupid to know how to use them.

Why do I have to dig so far into the settings to disable updates? Why is there no option in the updates menu? Your argument is weak.

I can easily go into the services and shut off Windows update - but then I can't install updates when I feel like doing it. Microsoft does everything they can to force updates on you and sell your data. Keep being a normalfag.

And I never called Group policy a third party tool, I wasn't even talking about it. Windows 10 is a trainwreck. Full of bloat, forces updates and sells your data and you have to jump through hoops and do tricks just to turn them off - and guess what? Every update they just turn everything back on.

There is no reason to use Windows 10 over 8.1 or 7. Also, I'm not the IT guy that replied earlier.

>Also, I'm not the IT guy that replied earlier.
then fuck off. you can see my responses are geared towards him.

>Every update they just turn everything back on.
not when you use group policy. holy hell, fucking open a book on it, and leave this place.

i never said you called group policy a third party tool. how are you such a shit eating retard? you said you use third party tools because you dont know how else to do it. group policy is in windows, and it does what you want. fuck right off cunt.

You replied to his comment and mine in the same post, so go eat shit you dumb nigger. Learn how to read, I made it obvious that we weren't the same person when I replied to him you fucking autist.

>Why do I have to dig so far into the settings to disable updates? Why is there no option in the updates menu?
to keep idiots like yourself safe. if it wasnt automatically pushed to your machine, youd still be susceptible to eternal blue.

>idiots like me
You do know group policy is geared towards businesses, schools and other places where there is a fleet of machines and not just one?

That's why you're still able to do it because nobody would use Windows 10 in an office environment if you couldn't turn off the updates through group policy. It's not my fault Microsoft keeps dumbing windows down for complete retards that don't know their ass from their elbow.

I don't care if I can jump through 100 hoops to just change my update settings. It shouldn't be so far into the OS in a completely unrelated category of settings in the first place.

So far you haven't even addressed my other points. What about Fall update breaking drivers on some systems? You keep saying the same shit over and over again, and it's getting old.

>It's not my fault Microsoft keeps dumbing windows down for complete retards that don't know their ass from their elbow.
>I don't care if I can jump through 100 hoops to just change my update settings. It shouldn't be so far into the OS in a completely unrelated category of settings in the first place.

its one or the other

No, in every version of Windows that supports updates would easily allow you to change the way you get updates. Microsoft is making it a headache on purpose because they want to force updates on you.

Windows XP, Vista, 8, 8.1 allow you to just disable updates. But all of a sudden Windows 10 wants to hide that option deep into group policy settings - shit that no regular consumer would use. And they do that on purpose.

Just admit that Microsoft is shit.

>Just admit that Microsoft is shit.
>except these other things i like

>you must either love or hate everything a company makes or does
Are you literally disabled?

The way windows does updates is fundamentally flawed.

You have to restart for simple service shit.
Updates place major strain on HDD and network.
They run from the get go instead of being quick and easy, making people opt for them.

Windows is broken.
This is why people can't use it.

if linux is two years out of date it takes 20 minutes to fix it.
Windows needs 8 hours and multiple restarts to do the same, all while lagging the machine.

Nigga do you know what google is? It has been almost 20 years since bitches have started saying to google shit. You have no excuse for being this fucking retarded in the modern world.

>tfw you switched to linux half a year ago and it's been perfect
Well, at least you have some console games poorly ported to the PC to keep you warm.

wait. they put ads in the os? I just ordered a windows 10 machine and I had no idea. Wouldn't have bought it if I had known that.

Definitely a you problem. Window 10 runs well, also lenovo laptop fag.
t. Pajeet shill

I have it on my main build and literally never run into any of these issues. If you turn off all the telemetry shit and do some basic shit you never get ads or anything if the sort. Just watch a video guide on it the barnacles one is good.
Also crashes and shit only happen if you upgrade which has happened to me on my laptop.

>tried to update stock Windows 10
Bsod loop
>clean install Fall update
drivers missing

it's shit

Yes, but they're not called ads. They're called "suggestions", and they appear on startup. The fact that they even thought about doing this, is enough to back the fuck away from Windows, it's only going to get worse.

Replace that shit with Ubuntu, it's comfy af.

>you can prevent windows 10 from doing ANYTHING YOU WANT using group policy
windows 10 will still contact the update server regardless of your puny settings.

Same here OP. My new laptop came with Windows 10 and I ended up downgrading it to 8.1. Maybe linux will finally be ok in 2023.

7 just werks

OP is just one of millions of people on this earth who let MS shit down their throat and somehow expect people to feel sorry for them. The fact that this thread if full of shills who literally continue to shit down OP's throat and OP comes back with whiney bitch responses about why he/she should accept this shit is just pure karma.

Let the windows users wallow in their own filth, its the life they chose, its the life they deserve

Every fucking thread some retard says that "IT JUST WERKS LMAO". Fuck you.

He's right though, nine if this is problematic if you take two minutes to toggle some shit off. It's no excuse but it's not as bad as people say unless you upgrade rather than fresh install.

Im a power user and have pretty much everything configured. Yet it breaks fairly often. Its a disaster for media playback and games. Win10 is like forever in beta.

7 is still pretty comfy for me and I'm determined to stay on it till the next full hardware upgrade, so at least a year.

Then you're doing something wrong unless you upgraded from an older os.

>Mfw stuck with windows 10 because laptop is too new for older windows and linux fails to find the drive for some reason.

I'm still using Win XP. I'm thinking I'll eventually get a chromebook for web browsing and continue using the Win XP machine for everything else. For me "everything else" is primarily note-takind using WordPad.

Just use linux....

When I see threads like these it really makes me wonder. What the fuck is everyone doing with Windows 10?

I upgraded to 10 as soon as it was made available from 7 and never looked back.
Bye bye disgusting aero shit, hello new sleek UI.
Haven't seen a single ad in W10 either. I remember that when I upgraded I tweaked and configured some shit.
Never had to use cortana, never had to see ads, never have had updates break shit, etc.

The only complaint I had about W10 upgrades was that Anniversary update changed the position of the clock/notifications icons in the taskbar (clock was moved from the edge, and instead the notifications icon was moved to the edge). But a simple widget I found on google fixed that.

I have honestly no clue what people are doing to have their shit break all the time or get ads on W10. Seriously.

>Have LTSB
>Keeps asking me to update
>I dont
Just try to fucken stop me

>8.1
fuck off

>Every feature update breaks something and causes problems.
No it doesn't... Stop trying to turn off the spyware, the spyware is essential for the proper functioning of the OS.

>Telemetry that cannot be turned off
You can make it look like it's turned off by running scripts made by russians. Or you can stop bein an autist and just get the Windows 10 Enterprise edition and turn down the telemetry to "basic" level.

>block it at the router level, jesus fucking christ
That will also block security updates and so on. If not then the telemetry will just be sent to the update servers if you blocked everything else.

>downgrading
What? Do you have the downies or something?
Of course you would have systems fuck ups if you didn't clean install the os in the first place, and also touching sensible os features before updates. You also can perform sfc or dims commands to check integrity before and after updates.
You can aso avoid updates by simple setting your connection as metered mobile connection.
Adds? Welp, maybe try disabling them?
Telemetry? Basic telemetry feature has been in windows versions since maybe ever

have you considered upgrading to linux? Once wsl takes over windows, you will run linux in win 12 anyway just the botnetted way

maybe you need to find a new hobby, doesn't sound like you can even windows. my tech illiterate parents can windows.

20 minutes to fix linux. hahahHAAHAHAHAAH
no

It takes literally 0 (zero) effort and time to perform a clean install of Windows from a Universal Serious Bus dongle into an Solid State Disk Drive, resulting very likely into avoiding update failures in the future.

Yeah, let me just upgrade literally all of my customer's Walmart PCs to Windows Pro and add them to my group policy.

By "public facing IT" I mean computer repair shop. I understand that that can be misconstrued, but what you suggested is impossible with how my company operates

>YOU HAVE TO MESS WITH YOUR OTHER HARDWARE TO MAKE WINDOWS 10 USABLE. NO, WINDOWS 10 IS PERFECTLY FINE
This is how you sound

Yes it does unless you have a really slow connection and can't download 2 years of updates. Linux is designed so that it is easy to update every 4 years or whatever without breaking the server you have running. Which is why people love using it as a server OS.

>the spyware is essential for the proper functioning of the OS.
This is one of the many reasons why I switched to GNU/Linux.

The only reason I use 7 over 8.1 is because 8.1 is no longer supported by AMD.

But yeah I got tired of all the shit in W10 as well.

fucking idiotic freetard... Only terrorists need privacy, if you don't want microsoft to know about the evil you do then don't do evil.

The only reason to use Windows is "muh office" but LibreOffice is 100 times better than that shit and is fully FOSS.

Linux is better than Windows and KDE is a far better experience than Windows desktop which is bloated buggy botnet shit.

Pic related, my setup. Windows fags wish they had had balls big enough to use this.

>LibreOffice is 100 times better

Dropped. It's just a shitty clone. And I use it, though I would rather use microsoft office, but I don't want to dirty my PC with pirated shit that breaks half the time.

Windows is buggy and bloated? Those two apply to KDE. I've tried it and it's a steaming pile of buggy garbage, even the theme wouldn't change correctly. How can you fuck up a basic thing like this?

you are quick to forget that ubuntu came with AMAZON preinstalled

>LibreOffice is 100 times better

I use it daily, and it's piece of shit compared to microsoft office. Only google apps are worse. I remember seing a graph, of microsoft's income, and office is like 60% of it, while windows is 15%. That should speak for itself.

>Bye bye disgusting aero shit, hello new sleek UI
shit taste

Do you cry yourself to sleep at nights?
You sound like a person who does.

user, any given Linux distro has at most 10% of Windows functionality.
It's better at specific tasks and it is indeed much easier to provide maintenance for.
You can't really expect Windows to behave exactly as Linux while still remaining several times more complex.

t. Ubuntu and CentOS user

>user, any given Linux distro has at most 10% of Windows functionality.
Dumbest shit I have heard. Linux can do way more than Windows out of the box. Windows don't even let you control what goes in and out on your computer or what your computer runs.

>It's better at specific tasks and it is indeed much easier to provide maintenance for.
Linux is way easier to maintain, and don't get in your way.

>You can't really expect Windows to behave exactly as Linux while still remaining several times more complex.

All complexity in windows are there to stop the user from controlling the computer and stop the user from turning off the spyware. You can easily add that on Linux as well, but nobody would voluntarily use that. People use Windows because they are to incompetent to use anything else. Go back to Sup Forums

>bloated
my entire system partition is smaller than the average Windows install, and half of it is empty

>Linux can do way more than Windows out of the box.

does linux have a device manager?

Yes... And its also easy to install any kind of device manager you want. Linux mint comes with it out of the box, easy to install any drivers and so on even with a gui.

And even if you go straight ARCH without anything pre-installed you can still manage devices easily from the command line.

Not driver manager, Device manager.
A Gui to easily enable/disable any of the hardware in the system.

Where is it or how is it called?

>does linux have a device manager?

Who needs device manager when you have /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-6/ :^)

This, Linux is much simpler and comes pre-installed.

>tfw have never seen ads or any suggested shit
>no cortana
>never had a problem with any autostart programs(you know you can change that right )
>never had a single bug

Genuinely curious how people fuck up their windows 10 installs

That's odd. I've never had a single problem with my Windows. Have you considered switching to one of these machines?

I really love the "it's quite simple" part.
