Easy set up out of the box and they make Debian a lot less shitty.

startpage/ixquick is my favorite search engine. it allows you to change the server to either the US, Europe or Asia, and allows you to perform search requests using POST instead of get. Which as far as i know, is safer because then your isp can't read what you searched for. (right?)
