FUCKING YES
SAMSUNG/QUALCOMM DESKTOP CPU'S WHEN!?

Microsoft and qualcomm are planing for a 835 snapdragon laptop. Although I hope they can update the design for the SD845 which has an improved 6xx series GPU and an cortex a75 CPU. We can only hope that these developments will lead to socketed CPUs for desktops.

>ARM

unironically this

Qualcomm was bought out by broadcom

>wanting a locked down system
They will never allow us to run unsigned shit on that

until they start to realize that a lot of commercial enterprise(tm) software costs on a per-core basis and having a million of trash cores won't work for the same reasons Bulldozer didn't

>Trading one botnet for another

You fags never cease to amaze me

>ARM
epyc is already out, this is going to compete with intel's atom processors at best

They haven't bought them yet. But are very aggressivly trying.

Qualcomm will be dead, sold off piece by piece if that goes through with that ricenigger at the head of BC.

>arm

epic post poopinderjeet

I'd only buy one if it had standard UEFI or something equivalent

Good, Adreno team should go back to AMD.

Nah

They make the second best mobile GPU after imgtec

Who cares, I want Demers back at AMD.
Reed was such a fucking faggot for firing him.

Wait their top SKU will only compete against 7401p?
7401p costs only fucking $1075 and provides more memory and more I/O.
This shit is DOA.

Wait for a RISC-V SBC. Everything else will be locked down.

>Trading one proprietary standard tp another
Wew. Why bother at all?

>arm
>made for servers
>muh cores

Another day passed and x86 haters still the most delusional brainlets here.

The selling point behind this thing is probably going to be less power draw and heat output, and in turn it can be installed in a smaller chassis.

The shit will barely compete against $1075 AMD CPU.
It's DOA.
>The selling point behind this thing is probably going to be less power draw and heat output
With less memory and I/O? Hyperscale needs more of *everything*.
>in turn it can be installed in a smaller chassis.
It's not like AMD can't ask OEMs for Groveport-like solution.

talking about SD 845, do you think the difference between that and SD835 will be really hard? I mean looking back the SD 800 got raped by the SD 810, and the later by the 820/821.
What i mean, with the 845 in less than 9 months (S9/S9+ probably for 1Q 2018, rest of brands probably for 2Q), is the 835 still worth to pay a "flagship price" for it regardless the brand?

The marketing bluster sounds like they've found some niches for it. Let's see what they come up with.

>The marketing bluster sounds like they've found some niches for it.
It's QC, they can find a niche for shit, even.
And AMD is back in datacenter game with holohoax worse than K8.

Considering most software is written for x86 processors and x86 has significantly better performance/watt how cheap would these have to be sold for to gain even 1% market share?

Because if we get something like a $100 48-core ARM server blades I would definitely be interested in hosting game servers on it since I don't pay for electricity where I live.

Working out the TCO within a datacenter for a specific, highly parallelisable task on a given hardware platform isn't a straightforward case of looking at a few benchmarks. If they're planning to go up against some off the shelf solution from Dell or HP, there'll be some usable real-world case where this thing can beat it.

>open ecosystem
BS, its all but BS
where are the schematics? where is the process? will they allow me to build my own? (whether i have or not the means to do so doesnt matter)

but can it run Crysis?

No.ARM is shit.

So, when do we get an SBC with one of these bad boys?

>imgtec
Adreno is now first now that Imagination is dead

SBC with 100W+ of heat?

i will never abandon x86 on my desktop there is not a single game that will run on anything else and i NEED games there is literally nothing else to do

I'm just guessing around the difference between the 810 and 835 in GPU performance and the 820 and 835 in CPU performance.

>Considering most software is written for x86 processors
Most C, C++, Python, and Java brainlets can't even comprehend how branch prediction or speculative execution works. There's really nothing binding most software to a certain architecture.

If x86 has better performance/watt than ARM, how the fuck are i{Pads, and in some cases phones, starting to outperform new laptops and desktops that are more than two years old?

Then why don't companies just recompile their pc games for ARM then? Not all require a vega 64 to get 60 FPS on 1440p.

I don't see why not.

Synthetic benchmarks are a thoroughly unreliable way of comparing two systems. Especially given that some companies have a tendency to optimise for them.

realworldtech.com/forum/?threadid=136526&curpostid=136666

We'll see a lot of that for the Switch in the next couple of years.

>Linus is being chad as usual

They're not, geekbench is a terrible synthetic benchmark.

Go do 10-bit software 4K HEVC encoding or POV-ray tracing on that ipad/phone and tell me again how shit x86 is.

How can any one person be so based?

t. digital drug addict

>digital drug addict

ok whats the alternative? reading can only fill so much time before you are bored again

this

Also MUH VR ANIME TIDDIES

Literally any other hobby.

Watches, fountain pens, electronics, cuisine, woodworking, metalworking, knife making, gunsmithing, diy surgery, antiforensics, programming...

all of those take effort i dont want to work during my off time

What if I have a life and a job?

>life and a job
>worrying about not having games
so, which is it?

>I has job and life and busy!
>dude videogames lmao

Uh, your call.

That's a good thing, it's not instant gratification and it keeps you entertained until you finish a project for example. Of course forcing yourself into a thing you aren't interested won't work, just explore your interests and see if there's a hobby for that.

so you have soemthing to do on your days off idiot its possible to play games w8thout them owning your every second

Videogames will take up your time the same as any other hobby you stupid brainlet. The only difference being you are sitting your ass in a chair and moving a mouse.

>Then why don't companies just recompile their pc games for ARM then?
Rockstar and Square Enix are probably two of the best examples of companies doing this. I believe the biggest problem is that companies don't believe there's enough ARM users who would be interested.

id like to understand what you said there isnt a single fucking comma on that line
if you just play games to pass time, you dont actually NEED them, do something else ffs
go jack off in the mountain or whatever

Instant gratification is the best part about games, you can see what is working and what not, you get stats showing you if your methods are paying off, and if a non rpg you just finish a level.

any real world skill is multiple years to even become mediocre at.
Hell, even attempting to set goals and working toward them, programing for example, would take multiple years to even begin trying to work toward a goal.

so... what do you have against games?

but if i do thinga that take effort when im not at work illl never have a day off i need to have no syress when im not at work

but i am out of a chair and doing things at work why would i go home and do the same?

but games are what i enjoy

I know what you mean but this way of thinking will fuck you up in the end. Things with meaningful effects in your life are long term, think losing weight, getting fit, working and saving in order to buy a house, etc.

The neet hikki videogames and anime 24/7 meme ends when the money stops flowing. Then you might regret not having started long term stuff when you could.

In the end we can all agree that x86 isn't going anywhere because of games and performance/watt.

ARM is a nice architecture but it showed up too late to the party. From x86 we will probably move to a completely new one in quantum optical processors.

>diy surgery

ARM is 32 years old

You can compile Free Software games for architectures that aren't x86, ie basically anything you can install without adding nonfree/contrib packages to Debian.
So: OpenTTD FreeCol(FreeCiv) OpenRCT2 SuperTuxKart Wesnoth Kpatience Xonotic

its a joke you brainless fuck

i dont have anything against games. actually, im for games, i like and play games.
what i have something against is ppl thinking they NEED games because they installed a new clicker game that just came out! and they cant live without it! its literally their life!
that braindead mentality, and the fact that "games" nowadays dont require any skill whatsoever, and the ppl that play those games, are the things i despise the most
I have played many games, some of them for very long periods of time (TF2 ~1000h, DB ~500h, CSS/CSGO ~500h, quake/reflex ~200h, other games ~1000h)

AArch64 is 5 years old.

>From x86 we will probably move to a completely new one in quantum optical processors.
and we'll still be emulating x86 because of proprietary software

And it wasn't relevant until smartphones became affordable around 2010.

Again, LATE TO THE PARTY. x86 has been going ham since 1990 since the inception of the i386.

I'm the guy who posted that, actually is not a joke, surgical equipment can be bought or replaced by similar items, if you know how to perform the surgery you want and sterilize things properly, there is nothing wrong with it.

i386 is from 1985

>ARM

At least they tried.

the fact you think this is sensible scares the hell out of me

Performance per watt mate people buying this shit don't care if its going to cost them $1m more upfront if it will save them $1m a year in electricity

not samefag
didnt you watch Dr House? its obviously possible, duh

surgeons go to school for 8 or more years before they are allowed to touch a living body it is not a suitable hobby

Commercialization for the home pc wasn't significant until 1990.

Meanwhile ARM was sucking hobo dicks in a corner in Brittany somewhere.

Right but the difference is actually huge which is why HPC centers won't touch ARM even with a 10 ft pole.

Mate, it's not legal I reckon, but you seriously don't need to be a super gifted medical scientist to perform some operations, and most tools used in surgery can be replaced easiy by even office equipment, not kidding. And yeah, I've done 3 different basic surgeries, I ask the customer half the "official" price and no taxes are involved, it's a win-win. My brother is an actual surgeon and I used to read his books when I was younger.

>Performance per watt mate

You mean performance per space. In the server world, the most useful chip is the one that gives you the most performance per space. As in, you can get the most of them in one rack or one room.

It's why things like POWER is still a thing despite Power8 and 9 having like 200W TDP per chip.

but thats to be expected, theyre gonna touch other peoples bodies.
your freedom ends when another persons freedom starts, therefore, as long as you dont harm other people, what you do with YOUR own body shouldnt be matter for concern to ANYONE else

i sincerely hope i never encounter either of you

What is your problem? You also need to go to college for 4 years to get a translation degree in my country. Guess what, I can translate just fine with no degree.

Anyway, for people interested in learning, quick rundown of the basics:

>learn anatomy, get to know the insides of the human body, where goes this and that, try to memorize it
>learn how to join veins and arteries
>learn how to join tendons and ligaments
>learn how to stitch and sew skin and flesh (get actual filament and stitches for surgery, this is important)

The next step would be learning about the organs of the human body, but I advise that if you are not experienced enough or feel insecure about it, DON'T perform transplants, take your time, transplants are serious shit.

Also
>for anesthesia search online how to make chloroform (usually bleach+acetone, warning: will give cancer to whomever inhales it, your call) or get proper anesthesia, it's important that you learn the basics of using proper anesthesia because you can literally kill the guy
>in liposuction, be careful about what you're using to get the fat out, sterilize it properly, if it's a porous material, don't use it.

>fountain pens

>not having a superior and classy writing device
Fountain pens are the mechanical keyboards of pens.

if you cant accept the choice of others, good, i dont want to meet you either

Can it run crysis?

i tried one once, it was of a friend of mine, and it wasnt anything special... it was just like a pen, you hold it in your hand and touch paper with its tip to make figures (i use BIC pens huehue)
between a mk and a fountain pen, id much rather have a mk because i use it a lot more

>Meanwhile ARM was sucking hobo dicks in a corner in Brittany somewhere.
Arm isn't from france

I can see this happening for highly scalable multithreaded applications. But for that there is also IBM Power9. When it comes to perf/core X86 is alive and well.

>losing weight, getting fit
my body shits itself every single time I think I find some way to excersize

my feet feel like they rip
my knees are fucked
my back is fucked
my wrists are fucked
I can't use grip strength or else my hands won't work for several days

I came up with, fuck it, I like cooking, let's make bread, I can exercise in a way that doesn't require grip strength or anything else that has fucked off, now my chest is swollen and its been this way for 2 months.

i have given up every getting fit or losing weight, and am honestly just waiting to die

>working and saving in order to buy a house
If you already do this or have a house, what is the point of not playing games?

>The neet hikki videogames and anime 24/7 meme ends when the money stops flowing. Then you might regret not having started long term stuff when you could.

Literally waiting to die as my body shits itself everytime I try to do something slightly involved. I loved playing drums, got an edrum kit so I wasn't a bother to people near by me, well look a this, the moment I got fairly good, can no longer hold drumsticks with doctors unable or unwilling to help. Every fucking time I want to do something something new shits itself.

So Ill ready my weeb stories and just wait till my body finally gives out. Either that or just living gets painful enough I just end everything myself.

I see clickers with an idle mode kind of fun to manage... hard to explain. I have add and focusing on one thing is a challenge, but when I have a few distractions, it becomes far easier to focus, ones that are active are retarded ill give you that though.

>superobesity implied
>can't do shit
>gaemz
>clickerz

Holy shit mate, stop, you need to get a fucking grip. It's normal that you can't exercise if you are too fat, you need to lose weight through diet first, seriously go to /fit/ and tell your story, people will help you to lose weight.

You might have convinced yourself that that life is worth living, but you are deceiving yourself, you live like a cripple. Your body is fucked but you can fix it.

You won't turn into a bodybuilder in a single day, but you can improve bit by bit, day by day.

Never, there's no standardization so you'd need custom kernels for every different manufacturer and family of uarch

>Qualcomm devices have fantastic Loonucks support
>Broadcom devices have shit Loonucks support
>Broadcom is buying Qualcomm

feelsbadman.tar.xz

I gained weight because my body shit itself.

walking/running, my feet since I was a kid have felt like they would rip if I stood too long, and too long is more then an hour at a time, it could happen within the first minute like 20 minutes ago when I was making food, or it could happen at the hour mark but its almost always within that window, and when it happens, that it for standing on that foot for the next few hours.

then a few years back bone spurs happened, and now that I have felt them, I may have had a minor case of that my whole life because of the fucked up way i'm forced to walk to not use my heels.

my back has also been fucked since I was a kid, and the doctor back then and as of 5 years ago told me to stop doing what made it hurt, well fucking look at that, you don't fix the problem the problem doesn't go away.

>you live like a cripple. Your body is fucked but you can fix it.

My body is fucked, and every specialist I have seen so far has come back with 'stop doing what makes it hurt' or telling me there is nothing they can do. the fuck am I supposed to do when the way to fix it tell me to get fucked?

and bodybuilder... I have not really been active in over 15 years because of my body's shit, but when I need to I can still lift fairly heavy shit, its the joints and tendons that stop me from any kind of long term lifting. There is a good chance that if my body wants fucked I could be one of those people who are stupidly fucking strong, but that's just going off what my body is like when i'm not active. fuck, when I push my gut in I can feel well defined abs. shits more depressing that anything else as the only way to loose the weight would be to starve myself as actually working out, something i'm willing but unable to do is a no go. Even then, the skin would be to stretched out and looking in the mirror... sure I wouldn't be 270 anymore but fuck, that would be more depressing then seeing the jiggle now.

Is that a legit slide? Who the fuck even make this shit?

You'd be surprised
