Is it worth upgrading Firefox?
Is it worth upgrading Firefox?
Just use Chrome like a good little goy.
>Launches November 14
Why does FF website try to give me FF 52.5 instead of Quantum (57)?
because using ESR is much less of a pain in the ass than using regular firefox, let alone their bleeding-edge crap.
I'd give it some time to settle down under general use.
Yes. I went from taking 30+ seconds for firefox to start to taking 3 seconds because all my extensions broke.
> having that many extensions
All you really need is Greasemonkey, uBlock and NoScript.
RIP NoScript and Sup Forums X
*Violentmonkey, uBlock Origin, and uMatrix.
HTTPS everywhere is also mandatory
*Smart HTTPS
>no more restore last session button
>it's now a 'sync' that requires a firefox account
Sup Forums X still works. I am using it right now on Firefox Quantum.
>Using greasemonkey instead of violentmonkey
>Using noscript instead of umatrix
Wew lad
Yes
50% less ram usage is great
how do i revert back to the earlier version?
4chanx works tho
I'm using about 200MB more, and I only have one tab open.
and the text contrast for gtk dark themes
addons.mozilla.org
You could find 56.0.2 in their FTP, install it and disable updates.
But that would stupid, install ESR instead:
mozilla.org
install gnu/lunix
>bookmarks then
>press one button
>they drop down
>they're all there
>including folders that can be clicked to open all at once
>bookmarks now
>click books
>click bookmarks
>my folders aren't there
>click show all book marks
>click bookmarks menu
>click my folder
Or in other words, it went from 2 clicks to 5.
Help > Troubleshooting Information > Refresh Firefox
Try: Ctrl + Shift + B
I didn't know about violentmonkey or umatrix.
bookmark bar
>Help > Troubleshooting Information > Refresh Firefox
This disables extensions and plugins which is the whole reason anyone uses Firefox.
No
Spend 5 minutes installing them again :^)
The goal is to get a new profile, not just wiping add-ons
no
i'd pay to have a good browser i'm tired of this shit
Well it broke 70% of my extensions which is annoying enough. Also the new start page is beyond retarded (90% ads and when you get rid of the ads there's actually LESS functionality than they used to have)
Then again it is pretty fast. But probably not faster than Vivaldi which I use now.
>it doesn't work
>but at least it doesn't work quickly
>vivaldi shills
>just got update
>Sup Forums X doesn't work
>install it
>greasemonkey says i still dont have any scripts installed
>extension works but is half assed and only works if I allow the native extension
>shill
>free software
I use Opera.
kek
>captcha: classic landa
>uses ff
>thinks he's not top goy
oy vey
What browser do you recommend using, Sup Forumsoys?
>Using Times in the message box
Yes it's just as good
>think everything is fine after transitioning
>this shit starts happening along with an error message that multiple copies of Sup Forums x are running
>happens seemingly at random, sometimes no error, sometimes error produces 2, highest pic related 5 fucking copies running when I have one script installed
Nani the fuck
You can actually still do this if I'm understanding you correctly. Go into customize, get rid of that fucking retarded Library button, and replace it with the Bookmarks Menu button.
>literally fidgetspinner on newtab
we want the autist audience
every fucking time i try to install a greasemonkey script now nothing fucking happens
I occasionally get a multiple copies of Sup Forums x bug but it's not a big deal.
I'm more annoyed about my oneechan settings getting reset every 5 minutes.
How do i change default zoom level to 170?it defaults back to 100%,layout.css.devPixelsPerPx makes everything bigger.
But that would lead to clutter in my browser toolbar.
It's been years and still no private browsing by default for android reeeeeeeee
You can configure start page through about:config. Look for activity-stream.
the design is dog shit now, it looks like fucking shit
And a media ripper
Yes it is. It's much faster and more responsive.
Greasemonkey scripts like 4chanx will be broken tho
What is media ripper?
its pretty fucky right now
Ctrl+F5 to do a full page reload. Will fix it.
If it doesn't, get the most recent version of Greasemonkey test build and Sup Forums-x. Mine runs fine.
I love how software is so shit now that "it breaks everything on update" is totally accepted, and even defended.
Something that rips media
yes
doesn't greasemonkey have better support?
>vivaldi
>opera
>"free"
HOLY SHIT I JUST WANT TO INSTALL THE 2 FUCKING GREASEMONKEY SCRIPTS I WAS USING WHY DOES CLICKING THE FUCKING INSTALL BUTTON DO JACKSHIT AND JUST SEND ME BACK TO THE HOMEPAGE OF THE FUCKING WEBSITE WITHOUT INSTALLING FUCKING ANYTHING
lol
What version of Greasemonkey are you on?
latest. reinstalled the fucking extension, deleted the gm script folder in the profile and this shit still happens. i get the install button click it and it instantly just takes me back to the homepage without installing anything or even trying to
But the site loads so fast, right? :^)
I was having that same problem, but that was when I was trying to reinstall 4chanX after downgrading 57 back to 56. I just reinstalled greasemonkey 3.17, not sure if you can do that on ff57 though.
now clicking install gives me this except NOTHING FUCKING INSTALLS STILL
and i can't post a fucking image because i forgot how to use this website without Sup Forums X
>forgot to upload image
The ABSOLUTE STATE of anonymous right now, wew.
Just delete your .mozilla folder and reinstall your plugins
Everything is smooth after that
Should I delete system32 as well?
There is alternative to GM that supposedly works.
Something that downloads media from a site I'm using bulk media downloaded right now, but I don't like it. Does anyone have recommendations?
Breaking backwards compatibility was announced a long time ago and it has good reasons.
Tree Style Tabs are much worse now unless I'm just missing the options to change it. The "tabs" are much thicker so you can't fit as many on the screen, there is a pointless menu thing at the top and for some reason it's still showing the tabs at the top of the screen aswell.
Unless someone can tell me how to disable the Ctrl+Q shortcut I'm downgrading. I ctrl+tab ctrl+w a lot, and having a "just fuck my browser up" button in between them seriously makes this unusable for me.
youtube-dl is the only right answer.
get brave
> tfw the youtube-dl Firefox script is kill
>pointless menu thing at the top and for some reason it's still showing the tabs at the top of the screen aswell.
In your profile -> chrome folder -> create userChrome.css
#TabsToolbar, #sidebar-header { visibility: collapse !important; }
hides both top tabs and menu thing.
>. The "tabs" are much thicker so you can't fit as many on the screen
There is a place to paste custom TST css in the add-on page, TST addon click on "more", scroll some down, "extra rules for sidebar contents", paste
.tab {
padding-top: 0px;
padding-bottom: 0px;
}
.tab .icon {
padding-top: 2px; /* reducing it by 2px */
padding-bottom: 2px;
}
:root {
--tab-height: 22px; /* reducing it by 4px */
}
This new firefox is the worst fucking shite i have ever seen.
57 is great. Fast as hell, with no stalling.
Firefox is back baby!
Hah, I looked that up and there's tons of people complaining about it and asking for ways to disable it, there's even an addon for it but I suppose it wouldn't work on Quantum
I want to like 57. I really do. It's fast, it's clean, it's customizable. That's all I want from a browser. But I've got too many addons that simply have no replacement that's compatible to upgrade right now.
I have the addon installed. That's what I was doing pre-quantum. But yeah, it doesn't work with quantum.
>muh addons
Point me to an addon that does tab groups and one that does private browsing tabs for 57 and I'll gladly upgrade. Otherwise there's really no reason to change.
ditch firefox. have a look at
So brave.
you fags are so dumb.
I have the same number of extensions and my browser takes a fraction of the time it used to take with 400 tabs open.
It's just instant now, I don't have to open it in advance while doing something else anymore.
>tab groups
were always slow as shit.
you can group them with tree style tabs but yeah tab groupings would be nice.
>private browsing tabs
literally pointless, you'd have to be an idiot to ever use incognito modes
Dislike: No Noscript (yet), can't remove tab-bar (using tree-style tabs).
Like: Everything else.
>muh only reason anyone used firefox at all
>can't remove tab-bar
yes you can, as many people on the reviews section of tree style tabs have pointed out.
>Open firefox profile folder, add a new folder called "Chrome" in your profile folder and create a new text file "userChrome.css"
/* Contributed by Anonymous user 099626's */
/* Remove horizontal tabs */
#tabbrowser-tabs {
visibility: collapse;
}
/* Remove sidebar header */
#sidebar-header {
visibility: collapse;
}
>save and restart firefox
Does it work for all media on all sites?
firefox 57 already has better addons than chrome though.
should also mention you can press alt, then view, toolbars, menu bar to get the window buttons on the right as well as convenient buttons for boomwarks and such where tabs used to be.
Delete your life
>literally pointless, you'd have to be an idiot to ever use incognito modes
I use it to be logged in to two different accounts on the same site at once. (e.g. friend borrows computer and wants to check their email, now I don't have to log out) It's really convenient.
there are other ways to do this, having multiple firefox profiles for one would work perfectly fine.
