The HomePod has been delayed yet again, this time to next year. It's already known to be a walled garden that will not play nice with existing home automation technologies that don't use Apple's proprietary HomeKit.

The difference between the HomePod and Apple’s competitors is it isn’t just a virtual assistant box. It’s a full speaker with Siri added

They are also home hubs that don't rely on Apple's HomeKit to work
They also work with Spotify and other third party services (with HomePod you can only play Apple Music, for anything else you need to AirPlay it from an iOS device)
