Why isn't 16:10 called 8:5?
>ads
lol
big numbers mean better
4:3 should be called 16:12
It's in case people watch it on a vertical phone.
Eventually everything will be 9:16, including movies and games.
Prepare your anus.
I hope so. I've never used 4:3 before and it's kind of a shame that more alternative aspect ratios aren't used. Everything nowadays just uses 16:9 except for Applel and the Microsoft Surface shit.
i've seen 4:3 used to replicate 90s television n shit, it' probably marketing
Because the pixels are rectangular in that one, you can't really reduce it like that.
yes and not for the right reasons.
They are coming back because cell phone companies are paying them to lower the quality for their unlimited************ data plans.
Considering they are masters in selling the old while disguising it as the new, it's entirely possible.
Nah, 18:9 is probably the next standard as more and more flagships phones are coming with that aspect ratio.
You mean 2:1?
Why is it so hard to detect the current resolution of the screen and content and match it?
I mean if they have an ad for vertical and one for horizontal, why not play the correct one?
And for regular videos, why not just maximize the resolution on the screen and let people turn the phone around themselves.
>And for regular videos, why not just maximize the resolution on the screen and let people turn the phone around themselves
Some don't even bother rotating the phone, and it seems to be getting more common. I've seen people watch 5 minute long 16:9 videos while keeping their phone portrait oriented.
>:3
go back to furaffinity you cringy ass shithead
Or that, whichever you're comfortable with.
Because of how similar it is 16:9, since I guess you'll want to compare the two.
>I've never used 4:3
>The state of Sup Forums
No.
It is and it was (in marketing) before 16:9 was pushed to PC display market (to harmonize production and to thus cut corners).
fug yes sex in the butt
>Some don't even bother rotating the phone
Fucking niggers.
why are you watching ads ?
Have you used it? What's it like?
he's a subhuman phoneposter
Why are you posting my long term waifu while i'm drunk off my ass?
Just searched "Anime loli", and this was the first one that looked curious.
>not the patrician's choice, 22:17
18+ to post here
people born in 2000 have had to use 4:3 when they were kids
come on mate
This
and it was utter shit, 16:9 is ok, 16:10 is the best aspect ratio, 4:3 is for faggots
Wrong.
I had a memepad when I was a kid, and I'm not sure but I think it was a 16:10 model.
>I've never used 4:3 before
now that really does make me feel old
because a 16:9 monitor is a 4:3 monitor squared, i.e. four 4:3 monitors arranged in a square
16:10 is functionally the same as 16:9 in most cases
4:3 > 16:12
8:5 is not easy to compare to any of the above to a consumer's sensibilities
>because a 16:9 monitor is a 4:3 monitor squared, i.e. four 4:3 monitors arranged in a square
that would again be 4:3 brainlet
4:3 is the same as 16:9: 4x4:3x3 == 16:9
Wait I'm fucking confused now
I can't believe this. I was searching for 4:3 monitors and switching back to 4:3 just this morning and this thread comes up. Are you the NSA? Are you following me?
You're just a part of a bubbling trend.
It is not the same thing. x^2 is an exponential growth rate, therefore the 4 in 4:3 grows faster than the 3 when squared. Thus in 16:9, the width is considerably more exaggerated than in 4:3.
All information I could find about it was from like 2008. Basically just people complaining that they couldn't find new 4:3 monitors anymore.
i get this sometimes too, i learn something, then it seemingly starts to show up everywhere
it's probably just now that the thing draws your eyes now that you're aware of it
i don't know if there's a word for this
sorry, polynomial growth rate
16:10 > 4:3 > 5:4 >>>>> anything else >>>>> 16:9
the mid-2000's is when 4:3 really started to die off
baader-meinhoff phenomenon / frequency illusion
neat
Because only brainlets use that Aspect Ratio.
4:3 > 2:1 > 16:9 >>>>>>>>>> 8:5 > 5:4
No it shouldn't you fucking mong.
You already reduce to the lowest common denominator...
циdeгage geт oцт
frequency illusion implies that there was a 4:3 community all along and I just didn't notice it until now. This cannot be further from the truth. The most recent 4:3 discussion I could find just last night was from 10 years ago. Besides the odd "tech journalist" defending google's garbage 3:2 chromebook.
idk about 4:3 for computer use, but 4:3 tv's for old gaming console use has been consistently talked about since the beginning of flat-panel/16:9 tv's
it's easier to write 4:3 = 4^2:3^2 = 16:9
I've noticed lately that people are no longer filming in landscape, everyone films with their fucking phone vertically. It triggers my 'tism pretty badly.
Enjoy recording the fucking floor dumbasses
>denominator
user 4:3 and 3:4 is the same aspect ratio.
>because a 16:9 monitor is a 4:3 monitor squared, i.e. four 4:3 monitors arranged in a square
are you eating dirt?
If you're placing a bet, is 20:1 the same as 1:20?
Doesn't apply here
>a 16:9 monitor is a 4:3 monitor squared, i.e. four 4:3 monitors arranged in a square
dude
Why are there no good 2400p monitors yet?
Because 2160p is the future. 16:9 is the best because it matches the human eye's field of view: wide and short.
en.wikipedia.org
>proportional relationship between width and height
4:3 != 3:4
...
16:10 has professionals in mind, including those working on 16:9 stuff who needed the extra room for the toolbar
Why not? A ratio specifically represents the relationship of two quantities that aren't considered interchangeable.
Here's the new 9:16 Ningles ad.
get an adblocker, you mong
>WORDS MY ZOOM UP
>they didn't zoom the words
Disappoint.
In the UK, parts of Europe and Australia broadcast TV went 16:9 in like the early 2000s.
I remember that even our regional news was fully 'widescreen' by like 2005.
>yfw 4:3 is actually 16:12
There's only 1 true aspect ratio
>There's only 1 true aspect ratio
...
:3c
i slightly did but not enough i guess
its zoomed more than the other replys
No, it's 12:9
...
I honestly don't know anymore if these shits in aspect ratio threads are baits or not
Wow fucking retard so 1/2 = 1/4 = ... = 1/n ?
its 8:6 you mongs
