That's the real problem with most KDE programs.

Akonadi is simply vital for a text editor.

You should switch to ne.
ne.di.unimi.it
Alt+meta+super+shift+delete yourself
Does it function like nano out of the box?
No, it has a similar beginner-friendly design, but the particulars are different. It's got menus like mc. You'll probably figure it out immediately if you install it.
Is this what Fedora package manager looks like? Looks very organized and clear.
It is. DNF is pretty gud, shame about it forcing the repocheck every few days. Only gripe is I haven't figured out how to make the search work better, instead being forced to either less through it or grep for what I'm looking for.
>second code instead of a /code
Kill me now.

Whats with all the mascots on Sup Forums lately?
Thread should have ended here.
Geany is better.

Kate would be like Afganistan or Peru, meaningless.
kwrite > kate
kwrite is the superior KDE text editor, is lighter and less bloated than kate therefore it has less dependencies while doing the same core job.
Six. Six less dependencies.
...
Shut the fuck up.
Ed is a 40 year old text editor that is quite literally just Vim but without 30 years of innovation and refinement.
Just shut the fuck up.
You actually counted? jeez, in any case that was on my system and most of them are libs.
What im supposed to look at?
dnf deplist kwrite | grep dependency: on the left, dnf deplist kate |grep dependency: on the right
ed is the standard text editor
in case you're wondering which six
KDE is nice and all, but it's a disaster if you want to use any bits of it standalone.
I use geany
it's got a terminal built into the message window so I don't have to switch between programs to compile/run programs
I highly recommend this program to all my fellow fizz-buzzers
