What VPN does Sup Forums use?
I'm using PIA (Private Internet Access). Its cheap enough and allows any 5 devices to be connected at once.

it doesn't matter. the lizard people own all the keys in the world.

you probably don't need vpn

yes you do. see

>I'm using PIA (Private Internet Access). Its cheap enough and allows any 5 devices to be connected at once.
U.S. based + browser fingerprinting on the site + uses it's own client + has a very nice well paying affiliate program for refferring clients.
Explain to me why this seems wiser than not using a vpn service for anonymity, security, or for any other sane reason to purchase vpn service from a provider?

I rent a virtual server outside of US and its allies (in Russia for like 3.50$), by having ubuntu 16.04 there and running an openvpn script that installs the VPN server (google ubuntu openvpn script).

The downside is you get only 1 ip until you make another server, but for my purposes, I don't need to change it frequently. Another downside for those in US could be speed, but I'm in EU, while the server's in Petersburg.

I'm using vscale.io, similar to digitalocean, so you can do the same with the latter for like $5, but I think digitalocean has traffic limit.

>not a single mention of NordVPN

Enjoy your big bro program kiddos

How do PIA and NordVPN compare?

I use SecureVPN.to

Mulvad is the best VPN

I use mudfish. It works on my PC, phone, and tablet.

ipredator.se

ExpressVPN because I'm Australian and want American netflix.

NordVPN like to throw you between servers depending on what you are doing causing dips in your speed if anyone doesn't believe me check your IP on Nord before p2p and after

PIA are based in the USA so avoid

>NordVPN
>Mullvad
>AirVPN

all good options

Ipsec vpn to your mums house

NordVPN is probably the worst you can get

im too poor im using tor :(

Thanks, will avoid both.

AirVPN or Mullvad are the best

How so? Please provide alternatives instead of just shitting on services

I recommend CyberGhost and Windscribe.

checked and can also vouch for airvpn

OpenVPN. WTF is this thread?

I host my own OpenVPN and PPTP VPNs.

IPVanish

>t. nsa

I recently got it, haven't tried torrenting on it yet though, do you think I'll be good or what?

>protonvpn
fight me.

Problem is, VPNs don't do what you think they do.

The only real usage cases are:
1- access sources in a remote private network (e.g. a a printer in a remote network) like if they were in your LAN
2- access sources on the internet using credentials and auth mechanisms provided by a remote network (this is the case of some universities and some workplaces)
3- access the internet through an hostile and possibly unsecured LAN (e.g. an airport's Wi-Fi)
4- bypass censorship attempts performed by your LAN or WAN

It does not grant you anonymity, not in the slightest. Every decent server is able to see that you're using a VPN provider, if you pick one. VPN providers will always log you and there's nothing you can do to be absolutely true of the opposite; you're more likely to be logged by a VPN provider than by an ISP.

If you want to bypass censorship attempts and/or hostile networks (points 3 and 4) then your self-hosted VPN is more likely to succeed than a commonly known VPN provider.

If you want to unlock geoblocking (e.g. Netflix) you don't actually want a VPN but a Smart DNS server (like a nginx reverse proxy, but for TLS connections).

Other than that, you're paying for using a glorified proxy with a huge "I'm a fucking faggot please rape my face" on it.

If you just want to torrent (aka: pay-to-pirate) then get a fucking seedbox; a cheap VPS is fine too.

TL;DR VPNs make sense when they're mandated by your uni, workplace or to "secure" actually insecure/hostile connections; in these cases you're still better off with a VPS or your own self-hosted VPN (a raspie at home is enough).

Switzerland actually has awful Privacy Policies, yet I see people constantly falling for that. I suggest you to investigate deeper.

Don't they ask for some kind of ID? especially when you pay with btc VPS providers tend do that.

Yes, I turn it on whenever I do torrenting, no problems and use Kido no problems.

>PIA are based in the USA so avoid
Haters always say to avoid PIA and it's one of the only trustworthy VPNs out there.

Freedome
5000 day license

AirVPN
But I don't want to shill one, do the research yourself and find the best one that sues your needs and paranoia

*suits not sues
But some may sue you if you choose the wrong VPN
