I want to finally retire my Radeon 7800 HD...

I want to finally retire my Radeon 7800 HD, it's old as fuck at this point and 2GB VRAM is not good enough for modern games anymore. Is there a decent card I can buy within the 200-250 dollar price range?

GTX 1060

This, or a RX580 if you can find any that are not overpriced.

>tfw just upgraded from a hd 6900 to a gtx970 last week
feels poor bros

You can buy a gun for that money. Then you can get a 1080ti or titan.

1060, 6gb version..

Slashes 1080p like a hot knife through butter. Plays everything with ease.

Kek'd

I bought a used 980Ti for $250 and it's great.

Woah, I can get the Pulse RX way cheaper than any 1060. It's like a sixty or seventy dollar difference. Should I go for it? It's 8GB which sounds too good to be true.

you can get a pretty good 1050ti for ~100$, it runs everything well for me

you can get a pretty good 1050ti for ~100$, it runs AAA games at high settings well for me.

fuck i'm still using a 6870 1GB radeon....

my cpu is i5-2320 with 16gb ram I dont even know if its worth buying a new gpu or throwing this whole thing in the bin

1060 is better and faster then a gtx 980... keep that in mind.

What are you talking about?

Wait for Nvidia Volta or Ampere

The RX580 is a slightly stronger card with 2GB more VRAM
Go for it

>2GB VRAM is not good enough for modern games anymore
1GB VRAM is enough by a huge margin.

Just steal the gun

Yeah! Buy 1060 or wait for volta for 2050 or smth.

dunno about price but the only decent i know of is the XFX 480

I just dumped this card for a 1060 6GB. Didn't feel like waiting for Volta, and AMD cards were nowhere to be found.

My 7850 lasted 5 years OC'd to 1.22Ghz. Honestly it destroyed everything at 1080p medium/low until The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and PUBG.

this but it was $300 at the beginning of the year

What modern card would be an equivalent to a 290X? I was content with keeping it for years since I don't really bother with gayman anymore (at least the latest stuff) but it decided to die and the old 5850 I have to use now is ancient by today's standards.

a 970 is good though

>tfw it took nouveau two years to fix the 3.5 memory allocation
Is this the power of free software?

HD7950 master race here, I will never upgrade!
