If you learn Japanese or Chinese, do the kanji's meanings carry over between both languages?
I've heard some words are the same (I think ai, love, was pronounced the same and written the same in both languages.)
Obviously they would be pronounced differently, but if you just wrote down a bunch of kanji, would a Chinese and Japanese person both see roughly the same meaning out of each character?
