Czechs have some stupid ass names for months.
For example November is called Listopad which literally means ''fall of leaves"
I'm not sure if I'm surprised how similar they still are or not.
yeah that's fucking stupid, dood
same as in German, except 'au' turns into 'o'

it's just your stupid and retarded finnish language, mate
They're just roman months in different languages. What I don't know is why non-latin speakers have those when they reject having roman week days.
Well, one example from Finnish: Lokakuu means literally "wet snow month"
OK.
I know they are.

The "-feira"s are optional and only sometimes used. They mean "fair" now, but I don't know if it started that way, or evolved into it. Monday through Friday just mean second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth (-fair).

AYO HOL UP
So Rio de Janeiro literally means January River?
Sounds feasible. Thanks.
>>Tammikuu
>Oak month or Heart month.
I'm pretty sure that stems from our tradition to bury dead peoples ashes under "The World Tree" oak's roots.
>>Helmikuu
>Pearl month.
That could mean the "pearly" iced snow.
...
Yes, the Guanabara bay was first reached by yuros on the 1st of January, they thought it was a big estuary, so they called it "Rio de Janeiro".

What do you mean? I really don't know where it comes from?
Well it IS judeo-CHRISTIAN. It was imposed here and in Galicia by the Bracara Augusta bishop during the Roman empire. He didn't like the pagans, apparently.

Folk names for months. Kuu = month.
Näärikuu
Küünlakuu
Urbekuu
Jürikuu
Lehekuu
Jaanikuu
Heinakuu
Lõikuskuu
Mihklikuu
Viinakuu
Talvekuu
Jõulukuu
But officially we use the cucked version and I fucking hate it.

Heh. Jurrikuu & Viinakuu
Thx, I don't know English so this really helped me.
Those were the most common folk names. Around some parts there are such names as cats month, wolfs month, the month of death etc. Kind of sad such bad ass names were lost during our "culturing". But yeah, Viinakuu is my personal favorite :DD

I believe Romance languages also use stuff like "la lune", but IDK
I wonder why we kept ours
You mean like why we kept our language too, unlike the now indo-europeans for example? Because "we" had such a strong culture a long time ago, but it almost disminished too, but since it was so strong and widespread some of it managed to survive till today.
...Russia, WTF ?
Are you Frenchies in denial ?
If you had to name a whole new continent you would have some uncreative names too.
Russians had a lot of French aristocracy in the past.
Yeah, it's La Luna here and probably in Portugal/Italy as well (if not something similar).
>what is Saint Petersburg
Why do everybody except for Fins, Turrks and Lithuanians use Roman version? I'll post few things, that had impact on our month names:

August
September
