This is considered as an anti-theft device by most americans.
>Americans have literally become so fat and inactive they can no longer operate levers
Even the parking brake is a little button LMAO
Please tell me that it's fake.
i always thought manuals were retarded shitboxes, when i get into my car and i have to use it it feels like i am back in the age of steam
i prett much expect charlie chaplin to come help me with his wrench every time i have to use this clunky shit
why do i have to use retarded levers that aren't even convenient
aren't we almost in the age of self-driving cars ?
and we still use this ?
for what reason ?
would you also have me use typewriters and vinyl discs ? what the fuck
keyboard controls when
wasd, a and d to drive and w and s to control the throttle
the worst part is clutch pedal
if you never used it you'd be amazed what a retarded thing it is
basically a mechanism that makes it so you can't just press the accelerator you have to game this little pedal on the left where you push a little but not too much and pray to god it works
how is it supposed to work you ask ?
well you're supposed to "just feel it lol"
its dumb
its dumb and frustrating and basically an unnecessary minigame that probably killed millions of people already
thats all manual cars are : a fucking minigame
the goal is to somehow balance the pressure between your two feet and still pay attention to everything else somehow, because this totally isnt inconvenient enough to require your full attention
and, if you fail the minigame, well you literally die
i hate it
This is considered an anti-theft device by most Russians.
You're just mad there's a few extra steps involved in running away from things frog boys. I learned on and drove automatic for years until some friends taught me to drive standard and now I own one. Driving manual is fun and gives you something to do. Everytime I drive an automatic now I'm blown away by how fucking boring it is. Gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake gas brake. It's so mind numbing and involved. Plus there's a fair number of large hills in my city and it's hilarious to coast down in third gear maintaining speed while all the autoplebs around me wear out their brakes.
>It's so mind numbing and involved
uninvolved*
fug
Are you woman by any chance?
I feel that exact same way with cars in general
>the goal is to somehow balance the pressure between your two feet and still pay attention to everything else somehow, because this totally isnt inconvenient enough to require your full attention
kek have you ever drive more than 1 hour in your life ?
Who /keepingitstreet/ here?

>be me
>get my driving license in a school where we drove through the city with the automatic gear and were taught to do the stuff like parking, starting a car when you are on an incline etc with the manual gear.... which we never had to switch further than the first gear
>get a job where i had to drive a manual gear car
grr, the first few rides were annoying
On modern cars, no. L is simply rev high mode. moving back every shift point.
When I go down hills I use both the breakes and the engine in third gear, because Im afraid to force the engine too much, is that bad? I always do this.
I just change to neutral, break when necessary.
>is that bad
No, you'll just have to replace your brakes a little bit sooner.
just press the clutch pedal, no need to change anything
What does L even do? My car has it but I've never tried it because I don't want it to explode or something
Lol, this discussion again
As usual we'll probably settle with:
>Automatic
-More convinient for driving in cities, and in places with congested traffic
-Idiot proof, you practicly can't choke the car
>Manual
-More fun
-Less damage to the brakes
-Smaller petrol consumption
It makes the car use 1st or 2nd gear, or some other low gear depending on wathever gear-scale your car has. It is mostly usefull for driving up steep hills.
>Smaller petrol consumption
Replace that with greater control and you're spot on. Brand news cars are identical in fuel consumption. Saving 10 cents a tank doesn't count.
I don't drive yet but the prospect of manual is scary
There are a thousand pedals and gears and everything, hell I may as well get a pilots license at the same time
I'm pretty certain this poster is a weak nu-male.
its really fucking simple
only three pedals, you have two legs after all, one for each pedal
Keeps the car in a lower gear, used mostly for passing people.
It's actually pretty simple when you think about it. Instead of the car deciding when to gear up/down, you do it yourself.
And the extra pedal is only pressed when you are gearing, or when you are driving slower than 10 km/h.
>not pressing clutch while braking
And this, of course.
w-what? You mean when coming to a complete stop?
such is life in tchernobyl
>i would rather put wear on my transmission than on cheap ass brake pads
Retarded desu
the most fun part of the manual gear it's starting on an incline, when you are doing it you have to press all three pedals at once - the brake not to slide back, the gas to move the car and the clutch to clutch the engine and the wheels, and you can't press the clutch rudely, you have to press it very tender while also pressing the brakes with the same leg
now imagine doing it in a traffic jam
no during any braking. pressing the clutch is basically the same as putting your gear to neutral
>and you can't press the clutch rudely
Fuck you clutch you retarded faggot
use handbrake you damn savage, you should never have foot on all 3 pedals
>Making parts that are supposed to move move is bad
Americans everybody
>making parts that are designed to slow your car not slow your car
Leafs
Why would you do that when the car being left in gear helps to slow it. Not to mention you're wearing out your clutch a lot faster.
I bet you press your brakes as hard as possible and never pump/slowly depress them. After all they're made to stop and stop NOW right?
then your ameridumb kid fiddles with the knob and byebye soccer mom car
i meant the part when you let back the pressed clutch, it should be done tenderly
are you going to use handbrake every time for that? they had to teach you how to do it without it
i can do it without handbrake but its way easier with it
>Kid pulls manual out of gear
>It coasts in neutral into traffic
>RIP car
>Chilean """"logic""""
I just let the car go backwards a lil bit and pray i dont fuck up some shit i didnt see in the mirrors.
>Sit in car
>Turn keys
>Release handbrake
>Release the clutch with exquisite delicacy
>Hand brake again(!)
>Press the accel a bit
>BRRRBBRBRBRBRBRBRBALKBGF
>FUUUUUUCK
In the first world we have something called hill assist.
>Making parts that are designet to slow the car slow the car more than nessesary making them wear out faster instead of just moving parts that are designed to move
Shart in marts
A fucking knob? If you're going to do Automatic, at least use a stick Automatic.
No because I'm not a retard. I also do all my own maintenance and can sincerely say brake pads are worth much much less than work on the transmission.
but the manual transmission offers more resistance and looks less "calling" than a fucking knob
yeah and also shift knobs like on the original picture
You mean as opposed to wearing out your engine? Which is cheaper and easier to replace?
>I also do all my own maintenance and can sincerely say brake pads are worth much much less than work on the transmission.
Wow dude you're so smart, I bet you browse /o/ and everything! Explain to me how leaving the car in gear down a hill is bad for the transmission. Coming around here acting like changing your brakes makes you an auto aficionado, get the fuck outta here lol.
I fucking hate manual cars holy shit
I can't go beyond third gear and the fact i have to be like this: 1 2 neutral 1 neutral 1 2 neutral 1 neutral 1 2 3 (last 20 seconds) neutral
Every single morning to work exactly this, it's just so annoying man.
Fuck the "feeling the car" meme
How steep hill are we talking here? I'm from Norway, and don't need to press all three pedals at once. It's just a matter of timing.
>this confuses and enrages the gas guzzler
I'm not a fucking millennial canadian, my cars weren't handed to me. Anyone with half a brain can understand conservation of energy in a system. Where do you think that energy is going? Friction into the transmission, i.e reducing ultimate lifespan.
You're the faggot posting "oo I drive standard I'm way cooler than people who drive automatic"
so I never learned to drive manual, how much more expensive are automatics in europe?
i live in primorye and our cities are literally built on hills.... -_-
>Friction into the transmission
You mean the same way you propel the car forward? So one identical form of friction is necessary to move the car but the other is bad? K.
One is necessary, one isn't. That's my fucking point, retard
lot of cars dont have that, also i generally dislike those helpers, they are made for dumb americans
Manuals are pretty much out dated, all the benefits they had are now gone. Automatics shift fast and efficiently, they dont even use more gas than manuals like they used to. Anyone who willingly uses a manual is a dumbass, just use the shifting paddles that are in every modern car
But still, we were trained to let go of the brake, and then "catch" the car again by quickly and elegantly releasing the clutch while slowly pressing down the gas pedal.
Finally got a manual and have a really hard time going back to driving automatics. Leaves me unfulfilled. I get 10x angrier driving a stick than an auto though.
fuck creeping uphill behind slow retards
>also i generally dislike those helpers
Do you also drive a car with synchronizes, power steering and power brakes? If you do you're a filthy casual.
Downshift and give them the ricer flyby bruh
Paint that shit black and it goes like fresh bread in the morning.
What the fuck? Maybe the first time or two you drive on a hill.
Time it right.
Let go of brake, release clutch a bit, press gas. Simple shit.
No I don't have any hill assist shit on my car.
>Hurr lemme just dial the car into drive and get us the fuck outta here, family
Mountain nigger in here, old folks in my city drive using the hand brake when going down hill, only on straight parts and don't push it to the limit, just a bit so your frontal brakes don't get worn out
>hill assist
many keks
anyway why do you let children get licence?
Why? It takes like no time to learn to do it properly without that shit.
Why do you willingly let your car brake for seconds after youve released the brake? Are you a bitch nigga?
What is S?
Why do you willingly let your car assist in turning the wheels? You some kinda scrawny bitch nigga?
Ford Model T master race here.
It stands for stupid. Just to remind yourself what an idiot you are everytime you select gears.
How else would people train their pecs and forearms.
Stay in the highest gear for as long as possible and youll be saving fortunes compared to an automatic
>Anyone who willingly uses a manual is a dumbass
You're the dumbass here, its a matter of preference. I like to choose what gear to use, not let a computer do it. You prefer to suck a computer's dick.
When robots and jews take over the world in the near future you'll be first in line to suck their circumcised robot dick and you'll likely be that one human they keep as a pet to spy on and infiltrate the resistance groups hiding in the sewer tunnels. Fucking traitor to humanity, cuck to machines.
>Stay in the highest gear for as long as possible
Yeah dude lugging the engine and making it work 1000 times harder at low RPMs is so good for it.
>I am too retarded to judge when to change gears most efficiently based upon the RPM and engine noises and therefore manual is bad for me
As long as you maintain the speed, yes.
I doubt is talking about doing 50 km/h in fifth gear.
>I'm an impoverished yurpoor that cant afford an extra 10 cents a tank for the health and longevity of my engine
Feels good to be among the top oil producers in the world.
As I was saying, youll be able to better able to control your petrol consumption at the cost of no damage to your engine, particularly as automatic gears and engines tend to fail far more and use more petrol. All you have to do is not drive like a retard as I was saying.
And obviously youll be driving your car like a normal person instead of like my nan
>euros invent automatic gear
>americans adopt it but euros decide to stay in the past
why tho
driving auto is boring and uncanny. shifts gears when it doesnt need to and you suddenly lose torque
I do that too sometimes
Yeah, I guess. Still, I dont want my engine to suffer that much
I have actually tried this but since I was more inexperienced I used the hand brakes too much and the car started to smell burnt.
>>Kid pulls manual out of gear
Even your average male adult would have problems changing gears if the driver is not pressing the clutch, and if the driver is pressing the clutch he's either braking or going to change gears himself
>>It coasts in neutral into traffic
If only there was a way for the driver to slow down their moving car
