128mbps bandwidth

>128mbps bandwidth
>1tb data cap
>i can max out my data cap in 17 hours
>i will get charged $10 for every 50gb after that
why is this allowed?

Because you voted to allow local monopolies.

Or didn't vote at all.

the local monopolies existed before I was even able to vote

Blame your parents. Your neighbors.

because you're american and you don't have laws protecting you from data caps

>use more water than my contract allocates me
>have to pay more
>everything ok

>use more power than my contract allows me
>have to pay more
>everything ok

>use more international minutes than my contract allows
>have to pay more
>everything ok

>use more data than my contract allows
>have to pay more
>

Why the hell do you think you shouldn't pay more?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

i can call my friend and talk for hours (no limit talking)
i can use my broadband (no caps)
Electricity included in my rent with no limit
Water is included in my rent with no limit

Because the corporations run the government.

>use 1 liter of water for cooking
>have to pay $1

>use same amount of water for drinking
>have to pay $2

>use same 1 liter of water for flowers in front yard
>have to pay $3 + the water pressure is at 1/10 of normal

>use the same 1 liter of water for washing clothes
>water pressure is reduced by 1/100th and you get a letter from water company saying you can't do that and will cut off your water supply

Bandwidth cost about $0.03-$0.05/gb back in 2011. It's been dropping by around 50% per year, so in 2017 it should be a fraction of a percent (actually $0.000625/gb)

They want to charge $0.20 per gigabyte, a 32,000% markup

>13mb/s
>very fast
saturating my wifi here btw

Dont worry
The freemarket will fix it

How are you using a terabyte in under a day?

...

Because of your specifically chosen contracts that allow for this. That doesn't rebuff my point, but in a roundabout way strengthens it. If you don't want to pay for extra data usage, pick a better plan, like you did.

It is now time to convert your nonsense argument back into one that is grounded in reality, and is applicable to data usage.

That is unfortunate. It also is not that related to paying for extra data used, so I need to disregard the (unfortunate and disgusting) point you are making.

Your free market argument doesn't hold water when they have specifically lobbied to prevent a free market

The water utility analogy you used is a poor one because utilities are strictly regulated to keep costs reasonable and affordable.

>Your free market argument
Im not making one, nor have I used the term in my posts.

I don't know what part of the world you live in, but here in Australia I am charged for excessive water usage, just as you are being charged for excessive data usage

>my car can go 180mph
>it will use my full tank in 40min!
>it cots $80 to fill up!

>i used 50L of water
>my tap can do 50L/min!

>bandwidth = data

lol fuck off retard

>people who hog the network with intensive bandwidth uses should be protected by law

lmao see if you think the same when you use a phone tower that is congested

In the first world you are charged for usage, not for "excessive" usage, of utilities.

So considering my data cap (1tb) and my cost per month ($44.99), that extra 50gb should cost me $2.25, not $10

the free market cant fix monopolies/cartels/political lobbying though

Sydney here I got 98/37 of my 100/40 over wifi. Not checked ethernet but that's at peak hours and I'm happy

Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast all routinely lobby to shut down municipal broadband and basically any effort to prevent them from having a death grip.
Doesn't matter how you vote anymore, this is a full-blown oligarchy at its peak.

Even my mobile network doesn't have data caps.

Fucking american manlets

you cucks are actually defending data caps! the US is a joke!

>want to go visit mcdonald
>go on highway
>have to pay $1 toll tax to get to mcdonald

>want to buy from burger king instead
>oops your local highway doesn't offer bugerking package

>want to go to local bestbuy
>have to pay $2 fee

>want to visit microcenter instead because of better deals
>cant use the highway for that

this is probably the most retarded and most far off analogy for net neutrality i've seen

Nice internet. Does it come in mens?

>tfw I get half your speeds but no datacap
I'm fine with this if only because you aren't
