Security issue aside (already been patched) what the fuck is Apple doing? This is the buggiest piece of shit I've ever used on any platform. How is a company worth nearly a trillion dollars able to put out such garbage? I love and constantly defend their products but this is ass.

It works the same as Sierra did for me
I think I had some bugs but they were fixed first patch

Because they have a legion of people who will defend them regardless of whatever they do. The smartest thing Jobs ever did was frame Apple as what all the cool kids were using.

High Sierra is buggy *FOR OSX*. Not surprising since it has a new file system and new display server. But it's still vastly more stable than Windows or Linux.

OSX versions only begin to be stable around 10.xx.2. I didn't use Sierra until that version, I didn't use El Cap until that version. It's always quite buggy and this is no exception.

However when it gets stable it gets actually stable. As in there's no unexpected behavior within months. Problem is they fuck up quite a bit on the security side.

So when can we expect High Sierra to actually work as well as Sierra?
I almost downgraded but it's too tedious.

I don't remember ever having to force restart Sierra and I used it from day one. I do it on HS almost every other day for a number of issues on a 2016 MBP.

I'm having issues with the taskbar auto-hide feature, sometimes it refuses to show itself, but thats about it.

I'm on a 2016 MBP too and I had one problem with my mouse but one of the early patches fixed it.

Do you have lots of settings shit installed that might not be updated and fucking shit up? All I can think of.

Apple was, is, and always will be trash.

the only bug I encountered recently was a phone call notification sticking until I force quit Facetime.

They don't really give a shit about desktop computers. It's all about the iphone hype now.

>This is the buggiest piece of shit I've ever used on any platform. How is a company worth nearly a trillion dollars able to put out such garbage?
whats a computer??

>How is a company worth nearly a trillion dollars able to put out such garbage?

I'll answer that one in three ways-
profit margins
(((diversity)))
pajeets

>diversity vp says 12 blonde haired blue eyed men can be diverse
>is a black woman
Can't believe the head fag is getting rid of her, she actually sounds sane.

Why waste resources on mac when phones make all the money?
It's that simple.

Is it worse than Mavericks and Yosemite was?

>High Sierra is buggy *FOR OSX*

OUCH.

Yeah, but seems they still want to milk the mac too, they issued some apology to the users now.
Guess this was a serious snafu. (And duh - institutions and schools running apples in bigger fleets must be furious).

Apple's printing money with their phone. They dont give a fuck about anything else. And the only thing they seem to care about on the phone is that it look pretty and expensive. Actually making it work well seems to be an unnecessary expense.

>they issued some apology
wut? not, 'your pressing that login button beside the empty password box too hard' or some such? That Tim Cock really is the polite one, aint he

Can I use this thread to talk about this piece of shit as well? This is the worst mobile OS update I've seen in 5 years. Absolutely disgusting how this buggy piece of shit left beta in this state.

Apple is a company that kills a product because they couldn't hire more developers (because it turns out there aren't enough people in the world to pass their "culture fit" (i.e. blatant discrimination based on execs' personal prejudices backed by pseudoscience) test).

Hiring undeserving low class people hurts their internal culture, and it's better to kill the product than hire riff raff who will make the atmosphere less cool and poison the ambiance, the understanding goes among Apple senior management.

It happened to Shake, it happened to Aperture, it happened to Filemaker/Bento, now it's happening to macOS.

Macs will be discontinued before macOS quality improves back to pre-2013 level.

I don't use my MacBook for anything else but shitposting, the occasional porn surf and playing Warhammer but since the update I can't play Warhammer without being buggy as hell. I don't notice any major improvements either.

Apple hired tons of shitskins, dog eaters and poo-in-loos. That's probably why you get these bugs, because they haven't hired enough white straight males.

rly maeks u think...

Poos do iCloud backend stuff. macOS is all Cupertino.

Lol fuck off!

iOS gets the development spotlight over macOS

Minimizing windows freezes the screen temporarily. (Occasionally)

>But it's still vastly more stable than Windows or Linux.
>or Linux
Yes, this OS where if you press a button it elevates you to root sure is more stable than the OS that runs the huge majority of the internet, including systems with uptimes of a year and thousands of simultaneous users.

I'm on a 2011 Macbook, iPhone 5, and iPad whatever (it's old)
I'm pretty sure this will be my last cycle with Apple. I've already stopped updating the software on all of them because the newest iterations seem terrible.
Dunno when I'll have to upgrade (in fairness everything is running fine now) but when I do, it probably won't be anything Apple again.

Will probably switch to any other laptop make and just run BSD full time.
Will probably downgrade to a dumbphone.
Will probably not buy another tablet because it's a luxury with no essential use.

Tim Cook only cares about new features. Features plebs would notice, since that's apple's new target demographic.
Unfortunately, modern operating systems already have all the features you could want. So developers are busy shoehorning bullshit into the OS.
Of course there's no quality control, because quality is not new features.

wow so edgy and enlightened. jk kys

Just like with Windows, macOS is becoming too big for its own good. Soon, you'll have to run an antivirus and reinstall macOS every year because it'll get slower and more bloated over time like Windows.

How was that edgy? It was a smart business strategy that actually happened, the entire Macintosh marketing revolved around of a base notion of anti-conformity. Have you never seen the ads where Windows is a boring guy in a boring suit and Mac looks like a fun chill guy?

Pajeet Developed Code (R)

we need a fucking new OS lol, it will only go down from now on...

>painted calle

>Pajeet Developed Code (R)
They should hire Sup Forums neckbears and autists instead.
Maybe that would kill the company finally.

>and autists instead.
what are you trying to say idiot? autists are top tier coders

this confuses and angers the iFags

Some of them. Some of them just spend their time shut in crying about "pajeets" and "sjws" online and jerking off behind their computers. But they still think they know everything.

I see your point..

Nah, the Sup Forums kind of racist neckbeards and autists suck. They just have an incredibly high self-esteem but zero actual capabilities. No wonder "pajeet" steals their job.

Exactly this. They think changing theme to their Ubuntu is being a good programmer. 99% of indians are a lot better than your average Sup Forumsgoer. At least they think about working and don't whine so much.

I know a neckbeard who browses Sup Forums too and acts as if he knows it all, always calling out "pajeets", "niggers", developers of this and that and other people for their "mistakes", but the other they they called me to show me their non-working code and they literally had screwed up how to make a for loop completely...

already fixed, less than a day after it was discovered

DESU it was such a horrible fuckup that a hotfix was the least thing they had to do, even if it was total hack without testing. They'll probably have to do more thorough fixing in the affected place after that too, though.

The fact that this shit even made it out of alpha is astounding. It's not some stack overflow exploit hidden in a mess of C code.

Also, are let's ignore that fixing this broke file sharing in macOS. I mean surely they'll fix that too, which will break something else, which they'll fix, which will break something else, and maybe by 2019 you guys can have a fully-functioning system that can share files and without "Press F to become root". But hey, like the other guy said
>it's still vastly more stable than Linux.
In your dreams, little boy.

>broke fine sharing
no it didn't?

Now watch him say it's fake news.

I couldn't even use my Macbook after I updated. Incredible lag and most applications were not responding. I made a time machine backup at that same point and when I restored it seemed to be back to normal. Then again I did purchase mine mid 2012.

What exactly do you mean?
I've nothing but good experiences with High Sierra so far.

The root bug was embarrassing, but luckily I wasn't affected since I had previously set a root password.

checked/ and thread

I'm worried about this.

Using a 2013 non retina macbook, currently on 10.10.5 and even now it feels a bit laggy and glitchy compared to whatever it originally had, despite upgrading to 8Gb RAM and a 512Gb SSD.

The random stutters and freezes or that fucking pinwheel are really pissing me the fuck off 2bh.

Tim Cook needs to go

He's failed to bring anything new to the table in more than 6 years, he's making Apple look like mid 00s Microsoft.

That's strange desu. I'm on a 2011 Mac mini with 2gb of ram and an SSD. Recently dug it up and updated from Lion to High Sierra. Runs faster than my custom desktop with ryzen 7.

I should clarify that I just mean typical usage, browsing and editing documents. The ryzen would obviously crush in gaymes or rendering desu.

Curious about premium Windows laptops, so priced it out:

256gb SSD + 8gb ram + 'retina' tier display (Can$):
>Dell XPS 13 = $2200 - $250 discount = $1950
>13" rMBP = $1950

So the same price, although the Dell has a generation newer CPU and a (gimmicky) touch screen. The Macbook has 2 (vs. 1) Thunderbolt port.

Besides questionable Xiaomi chinkbooks, are there actually bargains to be had with premium Macbook-tier windows laptops? Me thinks the fact they all sell in *TINY* numbers compared to the Macbooks makes it hard for them to price agressively.

They rushed the patch and broke other things because they don't test anything

> Features, customizing and options means nothing, quality is something else like speed, security and stability.

Talking like a real W10+chrome user. Speed and stability and nothing else all the wayyy. Must be nice to be simple and normal.

>what the fuck is Apple doing?
They don't care, simple as that.

>what the fuck is Apple doing?
raking in money, doing the toothless mexican laugh at home

This.
Apple customers are the most gullible brain dead consumer base on the planet. Apple literally does not give a shit about anything besides "make sure our logo is clearly visible on the product".

Ah it's more complex, less simple than that, but yeah, the brand is ridiculously "mind-shared", and the customers themselves tend to work hard to add to the cult's strength.
Rather disgusting.

they've probably gone the windows route instead of replacing old features with new ones they probably just piling everything on top of the old stuff

Login is still unsolved:
Windows 10 (((cloud)))
Linux (graphical) ahahaha
Apple (always root)
