I've noticed recently that gaming laptops gotten much better compared to even maybe 4-5 years ago. They used to be really bulky and have shitty graphics but they improved a lot. I still stand by my point that you should get a desktop for gaming but if it's a secondary machine or if absolutely need portablity, it's a decent choice
Gaming laptops: Then and Now
They're about to get much, much better. Zen+Vega is going to really push thing forward.
I'm surprised alot of Sup Forums hasn't moved the the external gpu master race, I have and I'm never going back.
Move to the superior cloud desktop market
>Zen+Vega is going to really push thing forward.
yeah into a thermal nuclear reactor that will burn down your neighborhood.
>le ayymd housefire meme
stay outdated, brian
Thanks for the input Brian.
Vega is only a housefire because it's being pushed way past it's thermal efficiency, there is room to improve
Zen is also past it's thermal efficiency just not as extreme with underclocking you can get a 1700 under 35w
I feel like I missed a meme who is Brian? Is he a shill for Intel?
>vega
No
I will buy a gaming laptop when I want a leg warmer
disgusting
Most still look like the one on the left. Ones on the right are still a rarity.
not really
That's pretty much objectively false tho
>They used to be really bulky
That was a good thing since the added bulk meant they had plenty of room for good cooling.
Alienware looks retarded but I don't mind having a bulky, heavy and strong machine on my back that won't bork.
laptops got more power efficent since then, which means they can run better without the need for as much bulkiness
Battery life aside, you can get GTX 1050Ti/GTX1060 15.6" laptops for decent prices now, which can serve as desktop replacements for casual gamers.
Although I still wouldn't dare to run them 24/7 like a desktop, so I still want a desktop.
I run my 2011 Dell XPS 17 24/7
so gaming at ultra or near ultra settings at 1080p 50 to 60fps is casual mmkay
a 1060 and a 1080p 60hz monitor are not hard to come by compared to a 1080ti and whatever top tier monitor you should be pairing it with, casual
I don't know what you're trying to get at, but gtx 1050 ti or gtx 1060 is no where near casual.
And usually, casual gamers play stuff like mobile games and facebook games
>just wait meme
>if you forgo the feature everyone cares the most about you can be a manchild in public
yeah no thanks
At least they're smaller than thinkpads
Yuck
to be honest I'd rather have a thick laptop that can handle everything I throw at it at a minimum playable framerate, rather than an expensive piece of trash that looks like a macbook air and throttles a lot and overheats.
