MOV to MP4 converter

Hey y'all. I'm a technologically illiterate casual. I really need to convert some MOV files into MP4 to edit a video. The free web-based converters can't handle large files and the largest one I have is 640 MB. Can anyone please recommend a free converter? Jesus I've searched for 3 hours and can't find a free one that can handle this sized file.

Help plssss I'm drowning in stresssssss

4.) Release program under GNU license for free
5.) Thank you desu!

This simple:
ffmpeg -i input.mov output,mp4

;p

thanks for nothing u dirty baka

but really any suggestions?

hmm. How do I do this?

Do I type this in somewhere? Yes I really am this dumb when it comes to computers...

ffmpeg -i input.mov -map 0 -c copy output.mp4

also note that mp4 is basically an extension of mov, they're almost identical

Okay, i'll take the bait.

First, if you are using Windows, you need to grab some pre-compiled binaries (in your case).
This site here provides quite good binaries: ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/
Choose the static build, then extract to a folder anywhere, then open the cmd.
In the cmd type:
cd "the directory you extracted the ffmpeg build"
ffmpeg -i "the mov file.mov" "the resulting mp4 file.mp4"
Then your file will convert to the desired format.

I'm so thankful that you're trying to help me, but I don't know where to type this. I downloaded ffmpeg, but now what? Where do I input this command?

Thank you again for helping me.

install gentoo

to try to make this as simple as possible; get and extract this;
ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64/static/ffmpeg-3.4-win64-static.zip
and put this in the same folder; my.mixtape.moe/audwhm.cmd
now drag a video onto the cmd file, and hopefully you get an mp4 being made alongside the original video
i don't use windows to verify this is correct

also note the result will be "input.mov.mp4", i'm not sure how to do string manipulation with dos batch, just remove the ".mov" after

could you have picked a worse demonstration of converting mov to mp4?
you just posted the first google result without reviewing it, didn't you?

>web-based
what the fuck is with people replacing basic tools with websites?
never have a i thought "man, i wish i could upload this 200MB file over an 800kb/s link to some server i don't control to do whatever to my data, which i then have to download, rather than using a 500KB local tool to do the same job in an instant"

This
It's becoming a disturbingly common trend
I don't like it one bit!
