1. Transportation isn't getting worse and worse, urban planning and lack of re-engineering initiative is.
2. Having retards and AI flying in the air and producing 9/11's everywhere is worse than random faggots and AI running into ground level obstacles.
>implying an aircraft could actually take down an building
dont worry mate, 911 was an inside job. You are perfectly fine in your skyscrapper as long the plane doesnt hit the appartment you are in
>What you guys think of it?
It's idiotic. Just build public transportation, it's a solved problem.
>he is so stupid and simple-minded he thinks i'm referring to taking down buildings and not just the hell of putting out fires at high altitudes, fixing shit at high altitudes, and the cost in both money and energy as well as precious time to get help crew to fucking high altitudes, as well as the danger to people underneath from high altitude shrapnel and debris
I hope the state isn't wasting its money on your existence, it would be a waste.
>Flying (((Cars)))
>Basically tiny AW609s with foldable wings or fuckhuge multicopters
They are all jokes, a proper flying car need an antigravity engine.
>flying car
>it is an airplane
Nothing new here
We'd already have this shit if we weren't so focused on importing shitskins to give welfare to.
>What you guys think of it?
You either embrace train meta or enjoy wasting millions on garbage that barely work.
Its a Public Transport :D so you don't have to worry
you have to go back
To be honest with you I believe 9/11 was indeed an inside Job that has been done with the Bush Administration all along just to terrorize his own people.... Remember conspiracy theorist are always right all along.
Can it land in a parking lot or grass lawn to pick me up/drop me off?
Not gonna be very useful if I have to drive to/from an airport at both ends to get where I'm going. May as well just build the public ground transit.
Not unless you have a comfy mansion with a beautiful and extended grass field in your lawn. That would be comfy

Something like that could also happen possibly in the future. Even "Suicide bomb cars" exist in Syria.
But to be blunt with you. Every technology isn't perfect, it has downfall also.
Such a technology doesn't exist in our age. Maybe we could borrow some of them in Area 51.
Its like investing Billions of dollars on military rather on this shet.. which is useless to be honest
No!
It's a nonstarter. There are many barriers to mainstream private aircraft use, even assuming the vehicle is fully automated:
- lack of adequate plane parking/landing sites, especially on commercial properties that don't want to trade off 20-30 car spaces for a single helipad
- max payload will still be low, on par with a 4-seat commuter car in most cases
- noise regulations that prevent flying in certain altitudes or certain hours
- safety compliance, any accident means operations stop until the NTSB can be flown in and investigate the crash themselves. If the crash was due to a manufacturing defect the FAA will have no problem grounding the entire fleet until it is fixed
- terrorism, it only takes one hijacked plane for the FAA to ground the entire fleet and demand security loopholes be patched (even if it requires a manned pilot)
- as a result of the above, high insurance rates
- low range since it's electric-only, meaning no longer distance flights to subsidize the shorter distance ones
That said I'm not against the idea, but one only has to look at the fate of LA Airways and NY Airways to see how this is going to go. Even if they manage to build a successful service, one accident completely screws them over because the safety margin is so much lower on aircraft than ground vehicles.
Most American homeowners have a backyard large enough for one (1) helipad. So if everyone wanted to own a small helicopter, they have a place to store it. Actually being allowed to fly it out of their house is another issue altogether though, one subject to local ordinances and FAA regulations.
Were flying cars in the way they've been classically depicted ever a possibility within our current understanding of science?
I'm talking ones that look like regular cars without wheels, go maybe a half mile tops off the ground, and can fly in designated "lanes" overlapping each other.
Was that always just a pipe dream or would these be theoretically possible?
>flying car
When the FUCK will normalfaggots stop wanting shitty useless shit ? A flying car is just as useful to humanity as a land-plane, or a flying boat. It makes no fucking sense and there already are better things. You know what can we use for traveling via air ? We call them airplanes motherfucker they've been around for a fucking while. When we run out of roads we can use those for travel fucktard, nobody's stopping you from buying a biplane for your personal use either
It's fully possible, see the US Army's experiments with "flying jeeps" in the 50s. Only problem is that their range is abysmally small compared to normal aircraft. This drove the development of thrust vectoring technologies, leading to the V-22 and V-280. Of note, the V-22's (perhaps undeserved) reputation for being unsafe was "fixed" with the V-280 design that incorperated longer wings (meaning more lift, thus a greater ability to recover as a lower speed is needed to avoid a stall).
It's a matter of having lightweight enough materials, a fast enough motor, and a large enough power source. We have the former two, since the USAF abandoned aircraft nuclear propulsion in the 70s.
Your statement works better with cheapo helicopters and not planes. It's easier to setup an FAA-ok helipad (which can be a literal trailer in some cases) then it is to setup a proper runway.
>implying uber has 7 years of funding left, let alone money for this
Yeah , just typed in a hurry but pretty much. What these sub humans do not understand is the fact that it isn't as simple as handing out flying cars to faggots like themselves, we'll have to set up a whole new infrastructure for air travel by personal vehicles, if they have to set up ATC for a few flights, imagine the work when every faggot and his mom will be flying their own car. Not to mention the cost, why do these fags assume a flying car would be fucking cheap and affordable or something ? Fucking normalfaggots, not even once. Gullible fucks fall for every pipe dream the jew has to show them
Flying public transportation of that sort is fascinating, but relying on Uber to program the flight control software mean it's gonna be a fucking disaster.
This is an example of how Silicon Valley tech billionaires have too much money and try to invest in 'visionary' projects
pic related and OP's pic are examples of billionaires who think they are ushering in the age of George Jetson but really just funding some home built bubba'ed car or helicopter
>It's easier to setup an FAA-ok helipad (which can be a literal trailer in some cases) then it is to setup a proper runway.
But it's easier to set up a small airstrip in every village than it is to put a helipad in every backyard.
It's also easier to regulate air traffic to and from a few thousand airstrips than to and from millions of helipads.
That's where flying cars come in:
- park it in your garage
- drive it to the nearest airstrip
- fly to the airstrip closest to your destination
- drive it the into the city
And I should add:
Even "cheap" helicopters are very expensive, hard to fly, and prone to catastrophic failures.
An autogyro like in my picture is cheaper, very easy to fly and much safer than a helicopter.
You got it totally backwards. It's easier to regulate a million private helipads than it is to regulate a million planes across a thousand runways. This is because pilots won't be sharing landing spaces, meaning they can stick to the predetermined flight path (created by the FAA in a manner similar to how sealanes are determined) and decent only when they are directly above their residence. Shoving everyone into the same landing space means everyone has to share the same runway, the same taxiways, and the same flight path in. This problem already affects large airports and is what drives demand into smaller ones.
And on top of that, half-car half-planes would still have to use roadways to get anywhere meaning road congestion would not improve at all.
They also can't carry any luggage and are more sensitive to inclement weather.
Even at airfields helicopters aren't allowed to take off or land willy-nilly.
They have to hover to and from the runway.
What you propose would become chaos.
Never mind the noise of all the neighborhood helicopters taking off and landing all the time making your life a living hell.
>autogyros can't carry any luggage
wut?
>are more sensitive to inclement weather.
Then good thing they are road legal as well.
With a helicopter you'd be stuck.
>They have to hover to and from the runway.
Yes or a helipad. And they have to ask permission to do so from the airport's air traffic control. This has to happen because pilots cannot reliably coordinate the use of a shared space while they themselves are flying. This problem doesn't exist if everyone owns their own private helipad, and only has to ask for permission to enter designated air lanes.
>wut?
Most don't have room for a 62" 50 lbs checked bag. Especially if it's flights are weight restricted due to weather (a thing larger vehicles don't have as much a problem with).
Its normal for me to see cars whose frame has rusted out and sections of the frame and/or body parts are replaced with scraps of old wood.
Its not unusual for me to see a car dragging another car by a chain, which car being drug is nonoperational, missing a tire leaving grooves carved into the asphalt, and has things such as the bumper and exhaust dragging the entire way too.
I do not want these people to have the ability to fly over me, my house, my family, friends, or pets. They are irresponsible and are already an extreme hazard to the public. Giving them the ability to fly is going to be one of the largest mistakes anyone has ever made.
And dong give me that shit about safety inspection. In places that have mandatory yearly vehicle inspection, you can get your approval sticker for a few bucks extra without the shop even looking at your vehicle if you have the right connections. I've seen it. its common. I've also seen people steal these stickers. they act like they cant be reused, but that's a bunch of shit.
>land-plane
you mean a bus? they are super useful, cities woulndt work without landplanes
>flying boat
you mean ekranoplanes?
yeah, more efficient than airplanes, faster than boats, its a seacar without some disadvantages of a landcar, im dumbfounded as to why we dont have cruise-ekranos
