Brits, explain yourselves.
Why do you continue to allow yourselves to get jewed by your internet companies?

We have double/triple the money of most European countries.
So that means it's okay to be jewed for inferior services?
Classic britcuck thinking.
Because its too complicated to setup your own ISP.
Parts of Europe (including the UK) have a low and vastly spread population outside of the major cities which results in issues relating to infrastructure roll out and mediocre fuks gives.
I should know, I live in a country that makes it cheaper to buy legally than pirate.
what are we supposed to do?
Literally one company owns the entirety of the country's infrastructure, was given bags of government money to upgrade everything, and squandered it giving out bonuses.
What the FUCK are we meant to do
Excuses, excuses.
BT a shit. i got FTTP nigga
Americans make 10x the money of the average yuropoor, so the actual effective cost of internet is still way cheaper.
>doesn't understand economics.
Bro, everything is more expensive in wealthy areas.
>In Europe
Why do Bongoloids pretend that they're not Europeans?
I'll never touch BT, Talk Talk or Plusnet.
Virgin cable, 300meg broadband all the way baby.
behead the ones responsible
Earn more pay more. Also BT will be rolling out 600-1gig speeds soon.
Stop voting for cucks who are ruining your country.
I read recently that Plusnet does Deep Packet Inspection.
Also saw this on another board. Really rustles my jimmies.
because when BT was nationalised the government didn't invest in it, and because they held a monopoly, but now things are getting shaken up, as there are loads of small ISPs dedicated to rolling out at least gigabit fiber, but they only really focus in small areas, and only very few have virgin, but VDSL/FTTC sucks fucking donkey dick, as no matter the ISP you're still having to use openreach's infrastructure which in turn is still BT, but at least they have to let other ISPs use it instead of having to roll out their own, or be limited to a single ISP like the US.
amerifat here, this sounds alot like our internet
I actually feel like printing that out and taping it to those green BT boxes.
Do you britbongs think you have it bad? This shit literally cost $85 USD a month about 63 pounds... It's the one and only internet service provided, and It's faster than 85% of the US internet connections. Thanks net neutrality, really keeping the internet free with your little monopoly zones.
>have virgin media broadband + tv package, 150mbit for 49 britbongbucks a month
>upgrade to virgin business 350mbit down to 30 britbongbucks a month
What's the issue here?
how is that 85% faster, and this is 87% faster?
>people buy shit connections from shit companies
>this is somehow the UKs fault
????????
the top 15% are major west-coast cities.
I live in Underriver in Kent.
1gbps FTTP here niggers
>outside the major cities
It's a cluster fuck all over the place. I live in zone2 London and my area was so broken that until June we only had 1mbps, the upgrade was only to 32mbps vdsl as well. Cable/fiber is a "to the cabinet is good enough" situation in the whole uk really.
>activation fee
What faggotry is this?
Most ISPs have an activation fee.
It normally covers the cost of equipment (routers, getting planning permission to run cable, engineers etc)
Virgins is £8 I think, BT is £35 etc
The same things corporate managers do to make employees work
Threats, extortion and a pitiful pay
I think you have enough violent foot ball fans and Muslims there to get it done
>It normally covers the cost of equipment (routers, getting planning permission to run cable, engineers etc)
Wouldn't the install cost cover that?
your upload is dragging you way down
>band means speed
Jesus. Sup Forums should really leave.
Most ISPs in the US waive activation fees for new customers with promotional pricing packages.
If you go for the highest end package available though you can get fucked on install/activation charges.
Comcast right now wants $500 install and $500 activation for their 2gbps fiber service. Pretty absurd just to activate service which costs $299/month.
>mfw lived in rural spain growing up with 56k modem and 256k ADSL for over a decade
>move away
>mother gets 100/100mbit connection for like 30 eurobucks a month
Fuck this gay earth
Because they are island moors.
> moors
Moops
I pay £25/month for 150down/100up
Although I live in London so I have a lot of options
>I live in London
My condolences
Well I love in West London so it isn't too bad.
>west London
My condolences t. Rural Kent
I have a £3m house so really isn't that bad :P
So minus the London tax, about £500,000 ;)
Pretty much yeah. My mother lives on the south coast and has a similar sized house which cost them £575k 3 years ago so you are pretty spot on lol. Prices where I live are fucking mental. I bought this place 11 years ago and it is gone up ~250% in that time. Crazy. All good for me though as I can sell up one day soon and buy something in a nice part of the country and have a fuck load of cash so I dont have to work. Win!
How does it feel to live in a shed?
I live in the NE of England.
The area was originally cabled by Redifusion in the 60's and 70's but Comcast came in and then NTL. Now it's Virgin and I could not be happier.
You foolish peeps with ADSL connections can keep on sucking penis. You may as well pay extra for a 4g modem off a mobile network.
It's not in BT's financial interests to upgrade their network.
Another failed experiment in privatisation along with the railway.
I like my shed
>Muricans actually believe this
In Australia, it is 10-20x more expensive for 50-200x slower...
We're getting jewed? I bet an Amerishart posted this because they're so assmad about their monthly data caps and unsubscibed blacked.com Comcast data packages. Kill yourself.
OPs pic bugs me
>3 times slower
3x slower would mean negative speed. The correct phrasing is 1/3 the speed
>tfw AT&T
Screams internally
>have high-paying job
>live in area with high purchasing power
If you don't do this you're dumb
WE'RE ANGLOS!
>that thing goes for 3 million british pounds
>meanwhile pic related goes for 79% of that and is 30 minutes outside of a major city
imagine this, but with copper instead of fibre.
That's Australia.
Jesus fuck, I'm moving to the USA when I'm rich.
>mfw even this house is cheaper than
Why are brits so cucked by housing prices
Even this is cheaper lmao thank god the housing market isn't horrible here
I was also looking at the villas in the sidebar on the right. I'm from the Netherlands. $2 million will probably get you what you'd call an average middle class home.
Maintaining houses like that costs like $10,000 a month
Toronto here. Market's fucked, I'm moving to TX
>I was also looking at the villas in the sidebar on the right.
So one similar in price and size to this one?
I am literally moving to Texas. I've already put on a country music playlist and ordered a cowboy hat from Amazon. Wish me luck.
>I am literally moving to Texas.
Please don't perpetuate the misuse of that word.
Also, only old people, Mexicans, sheriffs, state troopers, and people who work on ranches wear cowboy hats.
>Please don't perpetuate the misuse of that word.
Well, I ain't figuratively moving, boy.
Oklahoma is cheaper than Texas
Well good luck with everything then I guess
Here's this dhs.gov
Would get Virgin if they were available in my area. Stuck on BT "up to 80Mb" i.e. 65-70Mb. Still a fuckton better than the 6-7Mb I got here just 3 years ago.
The UK is good if you live in Hull! Hull doesn't have BT but KCOM installing proper fibre instead.
Kcom is shit, I had to deal with them because they own eclipse.
Fucking terrible t. 1st line tech
>1000mbit/s
Wtf hungary, we in Austria barely get 300 at max. For 100 €..
weren't you pretty bad at the Internets just a few years ago?
FeelsBadMan with the gun.
What intrigues me the most is: How can first world countries have monopolies? I guess the big guys can always buy more politicians to get the job done.
>we in Austria barely get 300 at max. For 100 €..
You're a pretty small country, why is it so expensive? We have 1000mbps for 30€ here in Italy
You self loathing brits need to stop.
Maybe our internet is worse than Europe but it's miles better than America.
Burgers pay double the price again for about 1/4 of the speed as well as basically every plan being capped to some low amount.
yeah but then you have to live in Hull...
that's the issue though, it's all based on where you live. all I get is VDSL, and is a private road so no possible cable or fibre here
I honestly can't imagine having such a shit connection and download speed.
I remember watching a tv documentary where a London based company couldn't get an ISP to install broadband in their offices. They were having to put everything on storage media and take it to another site a few miles away to upload files to a customer.
And here I am, supposedly living in a "rust belt" shit hole enjoying 30meg/s+ download speeds.
I'm not that far from my local BT exchange and I'm pretty sure I'd get a decent connection. Thing is I've been with NTL/Virgin for around 15yrs now. I'm not shilling but with the cost, the connection speeds and level of service you get there is absolutely no reason for me change.
No competition I guess. Only one company has coverage throughout the country. There are local ISP in some places but at best they are barely cheaper.
I think it's moreso Europeans don't want anything to do with those sheepfuckers other than steal their money
>having to pay that much for 1g internet
fuck this country
But I don't, user. I have truly unlimited microwave broadband serving me a consistent 70/70 for just 25 Great British Pounds per month
>britain
>europe
pick one you uneducated fuck
what the fuck? I pay £28 per month for 100Mb/s and regularly get download speeds of 11MB/s.
I feel that reasonable.
Where do you faggots live? I never had a problem with connection speeds. I had O2 (before their ISP was sold to Sky), then Sky, TalkTalk and now Seethelight. Sure some of them had terrible customer service, but the connection itself was never an issue.
Are you people trolling or do you live in some council estate?
Nigga, you get symmetric gigabit fiber for less than that in poland.
>Frisco
That's 30 miles outside Dallas. I can find cheap homes in Basildon and Crawley too.
Now show how much a house like that would cost in inner LA or NYC.
Brits aren't the only getting jewed
>Now show how much a house like that would cost in inner LA or NYC.
No, because nobody in their right fucking minds would want to live there.
Living 30 minutes outside of Dallas in an affluent suburb is literally perfect.
Lithuania and Ireland have something like 80% of their population located in one or two urban areas.
>30 minutes
More like over an hour each way during the morning and evening rush, something you won't be able to avoid unless you work and Frisco.
>More like over an hour each way
>t. too poor to take the express lanes on the tollway
Germany has a pretty high population density.
A lot higher than Ireland for example.
>pay £30 a month (plus line rental) for fibre speeds
>Get 6/1 Mbps because last outpost of the Britbongistanian Empire
Hard border with Britain pls
oklahoma is also one of the assholes of the us
Digi user here.
I just noticed that they bumped up my 500/200 line to 1000/200 in novermber.
And by "noticed" I mean that they sent a mail concerning this detail, since the net is already so fast that I don't notice such an increase in speed.
I can't speak but "freiminuten" sounds like "free minutes". Is this a mobile plan?
Yeah, it's fast mobile internet.
>pay £33 a month for 200mbs down / 30up
>no line rental
>mfw people get cucked for £17 a month for something they don't even use
I don't know if you know this, but a lot of people can only choose from one (1) ISP that happens to be in your area, and if they suck, you're fucked. Same in the US.
