What's the second best headphone behind the MA900?

cool German music
youtube.com/watch?v=3ctIO8CwJsk

Idol trash here. Umi a best. HD600 a best.
What's your setup like, user?

>$100 on a DAC
explain yourself.

What is the third worst headphone behind the HE-400i and the DT880?
>supporting 3DCG anime in any fucking way

The headphones you own (post 'em)

>it looked like it would be pwetty under the Magni 2 Uber, and it is.
>it has spdif (coax and optical) inputs I do use.
>not powered by usb or a computer.
But to others, I do not recommend the expense. Just get uae23.

HD600 plugged into my onboard which sounds fine

LICK HER PENGUIN PUSSY

Discuss.
>more pig disgusting 3DCG anime
This shit needs to stop, Japan.

>discuss
discuss what? that you own no headphones?

HD600 > these two more expensive headphones.

Houseki no Kuni is great though.

Stop it user... You can't go around accusing everyone of owning no headphones...

Should someone post the frequency response graph?

How much of a difference do new pads make to the 668b's?
My current headphones broke (Brainwavz HM5) and they're my old pair. Honestly, I might permanently switchback to them and sell the warranty unit...

HD660S looks like a very slight improvement over HD650 here. Smaller midbass hump, slightly less recessed upper midrange/treble, but slightly worse bass extension.

>£130
>UK
>To be used with phones, PCs, consoles, TVs - average consumer stuff
>IEMs are more discreet, but I don't think they can match full-sized overall quality?
>Closed
>Bass heavy

Looking at a few Sony ones (XB950N1 & XB80BS) at the moment, but I want to know if there's something better for the price.

IF's HD600 measurement isn't a fair comparison because it's clearly a faulty pair. One channel's 90 dB distortion is higher than the other channel's 100 dB distortion. Tyll needs to remeasure a different sample.

Also forgot to mention it NEEDS to be wireless.

>wireless
It's going to suck.
>3DCG
>great
Mutually exclusive.

Nah, that's the result of no driver matching

>To be used with phones, PCs, consoles, TVs - average consumer stuff
That is, at home.
>Closed
Why the f* would you use closed at home? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? >Wireless
Kys.
By hanging. From a wire.

>You can't go around accusing everyone of owning no headphones...

Bought a pair of shp9500s this cyber monday for 40 bucks. Figured I'd give a try since I've never tied an open back pair and you guys recommended them. They're great and I'm a fan of open backs now. You guys are alright sometimes.

there's a chance he may want them for portable use, considering he wants wireless iems...?

your headphones suck and you should spend more money

>paid 40 bucks
>has better headphones than DiPolar
Nice.

Tyll measured ancient HD600, which were infamous for the driver matching.

I guess you're right. Just be ready to have a pair beside you when someone does call you out. Just in case ;)

no prob user hope you continue to enjoy them.

>It's going to suck.

How bad will it be? Wires keep getting caught, and also falls out too easily.

>Why the f* would you use closed at home?
>phones
That will be what it's used on the most

Lad, if I don't want wires, what's your issue?

>Why the f* would you use closed at home?
are you retarded? by that logic why would you not just use speakers? what's stopping you from getting an SVS. Or what about dual 24" subs pointed directly at your neighbors or roommate's room.

Wireless in your price range will be really bad.

Prove you have better headphones than DiPolar

Unless listening to music real loud with someone sitting two steps away, like in an open office setting, open won't be heard by anybody but you.
Open will sound better than closed at a given price, so it's not sensible to compromise unless absolutely needed.
At home? Unlikely.

different people different circumstances user

>he asks for wireless iems for mainly portable use
>you're trying to shill him a pair of open back headphones

lel

try kz zst and a Bluetooth cable. It goes around your neck

Short of living in a matchbox with 15 more immigrants, I can't see a reason.
And in such a setting, I'd recommend against 130GBP headphones.

Could I do better for $300?

>To be used with phones, PCs, consoles, TVs - average consumer stuff

Here you go. Free headphones from a cheap Best Buy portable CD player. Much better than DiPolar's headphones. Apologize.

Yes.
amazon.com/Sennheiser-Open-Back-Professional-Headphone/dp/B00004SY4H/

>Much better than DiPolar's headphones.
i agree

Oh shit, are those library headphones?

>Open-Back
Inapplicable in my use case.

>dem bass ports on the back
I bet those pass the fuck out of the paper test.

How will dipolar ever recover

Shit, that's not good.

Dude, it's going to be mainly used on my phone, on a VERY BUSY TRAIN. What the fuck is your problem?

>try kz zst and a Bluetooth cable

Thanks, will give it a look

>can't into open back
>why live
:'(

>still no timestamp
lel

And you lied to me anyway. That square wave is just sad.

I live in a rural area with an extremely low noise floor. even LED lights give off an audible obnoxious hum. I also have thin walls except for the foundation which is insultated and blocks noise/heat. You can hear open backs from two rooms over. It gets so dark and quiet at night that it's like a deprivation chamber. I have a handicapped mother I need to take care of and can't move otherwise I would.

Not everyone exists in your ideal world

He'll buy more meme planars.
>You can hear open backs from two rooms over
You can't hear open back from the same room, if you're not listening to them at deafening volumes.

he's mad because now he can't tell you to up your budget and take his hd600+schiit stack recommendation for portable use.

see

>You can't hear open back from the same room, if you're not listening to them at deafening volumes.
different headphones have different leakage

Why is this the only frequency response graph I see of the memephones?

Show me the correct measurements then. Not frequency response - this shit is fixable by eq.

>this shit is fixable by eq
So are square waves, silly goose.

>So are square waves, silly goose
Uh, no? How can you make distortions less without rebuilding everything from scratch?

because it glosses over the nosedive bass from "muh poorly sealed" measurements because of goldenmemes awful compensation curve.

TrustyFucks?
Nothing short of on-ear leaks that badly.

what can i buy myself for xmas to upgrade
only listen to kpop
I have a 770 and shit amp

Planars also leak a shit ton.

TrustyFucks here. Not a chance; that user will never be able to goose-post as well as me

>Nothing short of on-ear leaks that badly.
audeze, hd800, stax, etc. anything with a back that is completely exposed except for something accoustically transparent to prevent dust collection

do you use equalizer APO? it's a free upgrade.

Nobody's suggesting the guy to buy some planars.
He's got a 130GBP budget. Planars are an expensive meme.

Square wave measurements are not reflective of non-linearity, user.

what is your budget?

It's very hard to reproduce though, so it's still a good metric of headphone accuracy.

you shouldn't need an eq

300 amp, i feel the schiit is okay
600 phones (might go used)

Audeze LCD2/LCD2C senpai

HD600 + Magni 3 + uae23.

Your attitude regarding EQ is completely wrong and ignorant. Literally all headphones can benefit from EQ.

lcd-2c or zmf atticus are your best bet for kpop cans

Are the lcd-2c even out?

>any budget over $300, no matter how high
The answer is always HD600.

Fuck yes, they are

Which i'd recommend, btw

The discounted preorder is. Or just get a regular LCD2 fazor used.

preorder for $599, once the preorder is done it will be $800. you'd better do it soon. Don't go for an lcd-2f, it will be too neutral for kpop. you want something slightly darker like the lcd-2c

Shoot, I posted in the bump-limited thread. Posting again.

Final thoughts on my first day with my ER3SE's

tl;dr: they're a steal at $180.

I am not qualified to write a long comment about the driver yet, so I won't
focus on that. I need a little more time to listen to it and try different
genres but I will say that so far it's blown me away in its accuracy. It's very
flat and very enjoyable for detailed listening. Accuracy isn't always a fun
sound, but for me (more often than not) accuracy is what I'm after. I was
happily surprised by the bass, everyone has heard that etymotics struggle with
bass but I didn't find this to be the case whatsoever. Granted, I made an
effort to get a good seal. I suspect a lot of the hate comes from people who
don't try hard enough to get a decent fit.

Beyond the driver, the most present thought in my mind is that I'd be very
interested to compare these with the cheaper Etymotic offerings like the HF5's.
I don't want to downplay how important a quality flat driver is to an
audiophile with a quality music player and a big lossless music collection, but
when I take a step back here and try to think of why I'm enjoying these
headphones and if my non-audiophile friends would enjoy them, I feel as if the
answer is a very strong yes, and it's not about the driver, it's about the
isolation.

Reviews where? FR a must.

Ah shit, sorry. Call me a retard; I was thinking of the regular LCD2

every headphone benefits from EQ, and you should use it.

If you want to get an upgrade to your headphones at that budget, lcd-2c.

For an amp, consider the jds labs element or an O2 amp+topping d30.

(2/2)

The isolation is what's responsible for making me hear new things in songs I've
heard hundreds of times, When I ordered these headphones, I expected the actual
physical blocking of sound from outside and the resulting high SNR, but what
caught me by surprise was the psychological adjustment that took place as a
result of the blocking. I'm not someone who buys into all the religious and
artsy bullshit about headphones, but this is like being in an anechoic chamber.
I hardly hear anything when these are in my ears. As a result, your ears become
extremely sensitive. There's nothing anatomical in the human ear that would
justify this analogy, but it feels so similar to when your eyes adjust like
stepping into a dark room on a bright day. The range of noises that you hear
becomes constricted totally to the music being played and, without any effort,
you start to focus on the details.

This is so unique to me, because in the past I could always hear differences
with high quality drivers, but it was something I had to listen for. I've never
had this experience where the headphones guide me towards the focus necessary
to hear the differences. I hope this makes sense.

I suspect that when comparing these ER3SE's to the HF5's, they would stand out
as the better driver, but I'm just guessing there. What I can say confidently
is that if you've never tried headphones with etymotic-tier isolation, you need
to give it a shot. Now. Even if you go for their lower tier headphones, I
suspect the experience will blow away even the most seasoned listeners.

Yeah, go figure.
I don't trust it not to suck. Most headphones in the market do suck, and most releases are disappointments, after all.
Once it's out and reviewed, we'll see.

I don't like this advice, it's easier to make a headphone sound worse with EQ than it is to make it sound better. If you had to choose spending X amount of time EQing or X amount of money then a lot of people will choose the latter because time is money

Highly suggest running earbuds/iems off a tube amp.
1. More expensive is not necessarily better. See ultrasone for a non controversial example.
2. Even very expensive headphones sound better with some EQ.

Thanks for sharing these impressions, it's always fun to hear experiences with new releases.

>1. More expensive is not necessarily better. See ultrasone for a non controversial example.
>2. Even very expensive headphones sound better with some EQ.
neither are my arguments or counters to my arguments

Well then you accept EQ. Enjoy the enhanced fidelity with your equalized headphones.

>it's easier to make a headphone sound worse with EQ than it is to make it sound better

false. every headphone benefits from EQ. There are premade profiles that fix any glaring issues with almost every headphone.

>you had to choose spending X amount of time EQing or X amount of money then a lot of people will choose the latter because time is money

it takes less than 5 minutes to install equalizer APO, apply a premade EQ profile of your headphone used, and get audible improvements. then, you can tweak the sound to your liking while you listen on the same equalizer.

you shouldn't listen to music at all with that attitude because it's unproductive and wastes time, if time is money.
