Someone posted this website on Sup Forums, and it is quite a bechmark
It is the Star Citizen extras site
robertsspaceindustries.com
the point of my post: try to get to the bottom of the page, and post RAM results

what is cheat code for real ending?
>go to website
>press "End"
What's the challenge here?
it keeps loading more content
maybe you have jscript disabled
Why the fuck are there so many fucking memetransactions?
incentives for fools to throw money at a space game in alpha.
t. 2014 star citizen backer
they are sitting on 170 million dollars as of today
>72 dollarydoos for a single ship upgrade
What is this?
Do people pay this?
Why are people pissed off with EA but not with this?
HOLD UP
$3600
THIRTY SIX HUNDRED US DOLLARS
I am fucking floored by this
I am still trying to get to the end of the page
and my RAM is literally done
Not sure if they are anymore, but they were when star citizen first showed up with this. I expect this kind of stuff will become acceptable soon enough. Just like horse armor is now acceptable, people hated it when it when oblivion did it. The players of EVE Online stopped revolting about stuff that is in the game today, The future belongs to loot crates, expensive skins, paid mods, and subscription software.
I think the worst part of this page is that it contains links on the bottom, that you cannot reach or read due to the autoloader. Don't these people ever consider the usability of their sites?
...
youtube had the same issue for years
the regional setting was at the bottom, and it kept scrolling and scrolling
It's only like 950MB in my firefox
Even with the g502 infinite scroll it just keeps going and going and going and going
Wouldn't it be more logical to divide it up into categories?
700MB used in waterfox
htop says 10.5% memory used on that content process after autoscrolling for like 4 minutes. thats about 840mb for me
used like what.. 800~ mb?
are you autoscrolling to the end? the page keeps loading content
10.51% of 16G
8gb and no page file, here we go bois,
3 minutes later, I dont think this ends,
everything except for early backer bonus stuff can be earned in game, so it's like a "pay to reach high level without even playing" model. it allows me to buy two hopefully good games for 30 dollaroos, one being an MMO without subscription fees. as a casual player I'm not going to participate in giant guild wars with expensive vessels anyway, so I'm not bothered if somebody pays a lot of real cash for giant virtual space ships. their loss, my indirect gain.
Before: 14 tabs, 1.5GB
After: 15 tabs, 2.334GB
>3570USD for a single DLC ship
>DLC status: in stock
still going, I think it's A.I procedurally creating microtransactions
the game is never going to be released
Would you rather have this or lootboxes?
Gonna go grab a burger and leave the arrow key pressed. Gonna report back in about half an hour.
I think their excuse is that you're "donating" to "crowdfund" the game
You just happen to also get a ship or other in-game reward for it, as a token of thanks
Or at least that may have been the original intention. Clearly you don't need 500000 different options if you just want to give a reward for donating
LADS
GO GET THE WALLET
>everything except for early backer bonus stuff can be earned in game
This is exactly how the EA transactions worked.
Wrong, actually.
BF2's progression was essentially tied to lootboxes, total RNG. SC's progression is more traditional with earning in-game currency and just buying what you want. No RNG
>starting: 2.9GB (I have about 100 tabs open)
>ending: 4.2GB
>1.3GB for a single page
Also my CPU temperature rose by about 14*C
Hello Star Citizens!
We need another 170 billion million dollars so we can program website that can handle all our amazing ships and other extras!
Please by a ship to support our new website!
Regards,
Robert "$$$" Spaceindustries
You mean if SC was a real game?
Shit benchmark, try some giphy now.
because it's some pipe dream meme game that will never be out of beta, people know that
EA could have easily not had all the bullshit lootbox things (they specifically said so TO THEIR SHAREHOLDERS, the people they never lie to)
they did it anyway because joe chucklefuck sees a new star wars game and gives them money without a second thought
I don't care that much if it doesn't affect gameplay at all.
>3,000 usd for virtual good
What the hell
>out of stock
Because whales are great at funding my game.
t. $30 in the hole
And for those wondering, they're cutting this off before the game actually launches. That's why you haven't heard uproar.
Also the website is getting remade. It'll probably still be trash but it might be less trash.
...
>itt: people who have never heard of virtual economies
You do know TF2 has hats that cost upwards of $10k? And it's not even considered a game with "expensive" top-tier items. I think dota2 or something has stuff in the $50k-100k range
The difference, of course, is that those games are already well-established. But people like you aren't complaining about that, you're complaining about "muh virtual goods", which may be valid theoretically but carries no weight in practice.
>they're cutting this off before the game actually launches
That's actually really great. Gullible goys will get jewed out of their cash because FOMO, but the game itself once it releases won't be a P2W mess.
This is assuming it ever actually launches of course
Former Eve player, the problem wasn't the $60 monocle that caused it, it's the fact they weren't focusing on the actual spaceships anymore with very very slim updates and spent nearly a year on walking in stations that nobody wanted and then there was a memo from Hilmar himself literally saying fuck you player.
