Capacitative!

I don't really pc game (occasional cs:go, civ vi and maybe flavour of the week with my friends) and I'm thinking of getting a Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro L RGB Mechanical Keyboard - Cherry MX Red. I haven't really used macro keys only for media functions if the keyboard doesn't have them.
What can macros be used for?
reds suck
>not using superior magnet based switches
Hall Effect > conductive > capacitive
>RGB
Try BKE domes, it makes topre even better.
We told you to grab the one with PBT keycaps, unless you really want RGB that badly. RGB is a meme feature you won't even use after a month, while the keycaps are actually important, and nothing is worse than typing on shiny ABS keycaps.
>nothing is worse than typing on shiny ABS keycaps
I like typing on shiny ABS keycaps
>see post on facebook buy/sell group someone giving away a bunch of old PC shit
>3 Dell/IBM model M's
>Sony CRT's
>imac G3
>powermac G5 tower
By the time the guy responded to my messages he told me someone had already taken the lot.
most of it was listed on ebay within a week.
:(
the exact opposite happens here. some guy had an ssk listed for two months before he trashed it
>membranes
Good thing you didn't buy them
nah rgb hella gay. just don't want edgy red backlit.
I thought some one told me to get the masterkeys umart.com.au
What I was talking about was this: coolermaster.com
But it seems like that shitty website doesn't even have that, so that Masterkeys is gonna be the best you're gonna get.
Model M keycaps are so crap, they stick out so much on my Model F, the legends are so blurry and thin compared to the Model F keycaps.
don't get the shit lexmark/unicomp ones. the early model Ms used the same exact keycaps as the model F
It's fine if the keycaps were made to be shiny to begin with. That way, they don't get inconsistent when some areas rub down more than others.
Like SA keycaps (or at least the set I have) is shiny from the get-go.
I got them from the IBM grey logo model m, too late to get the silver badge one now though.
Nah my omnikey with blue alps keys are shiny as hell and I like the feel of them.
Clears sound nice vocaroo.com
Your spacebars are on the wrong way
yay there it is
you validate me
Did you fix them
no i leave them like that because it feels like a shorter travel distance on the bottom row(which i hit with my thumb and rest my thumb). assured (You)'s don't hurt either but i may take a pic with them flipped the incorrect way so maybe people will comment on my boards instead of the spacebars. really want keycap suggestions for the 980m. The stock ones are awesome but I was thinking maybe carbon would look good
I think GMK Camping would look nice on it
carbon doesn't look that good on it though
I think it looks good, but something like GMK Yuri would look better.
I don't know if GMK Camping will look as good as SP Camping.
Buy my $200 keycaps
I think the colors match up well but thats a shitty carbon. There are good ones on aliexpress for like $60 that im thinking about
>thats a shitty carbon
GMK carbon is the best carbon you can get, the chink verisons legends are all messed up
isnt gmk abs though? i like pbt i dont want it to get shiny
Ah, pbt is just the keycaps, right? So in theory I could buy them later and replace? Having a hard time finding masterkey pbt in australia desu.
Anyone have any experience with Ergodox EZ? I ordered a week and a half ago and I've only gotten one email about my order. Is that normal?
I recently bought a blue alps board for cheap, they feel like crap but when I open the switches up they aren't really dirty, what could be the problem? Are blue alps just shitty switches?
>the incorrect way
What components do I need to assemble my own keyboard? How does the price compare to buying a fully assembled keyboard?
>Case or standoffs
>pcb and/or plate
>Controller and usb cable
>Diodes and leds and other such bits
>Enough switches for your layout
>Proper stabilizers for wide keys
>Keycap set
Usually it's the case and keycaps that inflate the price the most.
Most pcb will have guidelines for finishing and compatible layouts.
You're better off buying a fully built one, unless you want a custom layout or some sort. otherwise it's going to get pretty pricey. That is without taking to account to building/soldering, if you fuck off one the components too.
>spacebars
user look again it has more than the spacebar the wrong way.
is that a CM Masterkey S PTB? i just got mine as my first ever mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Blues and i'm fucking loving it. Also were did you got those keycaps from?
I'm looking for a recommendation for a board.
>Mx brown. Preferably genuine
>Budget is $us90 or less.
>Small bezzels
>No leds, or White or Red ones. Rgb is fine but I'm probably paying more for that. If rgb I'd like to have simple, non-software control.
>Volume control
>Full layout.
So far I've only seen Rosewill rk-9000v2, Ducky one (frequently out of stock) and CM quickfire rapid XT (a hair over budget). Any suggestions Sup Forumsents?
After a bit of shopping, I'm also seeing Master Keys L PBT and Corsair Strafe at $90. The coolermaster option looks pretty damn good. PBT out of the box seems great. I hate the shitty keycaps on my Razer keyboard.
can you get vanity keycaps for the unicomp keyboards? In particular I want an amiga super key.
I love my KBD75. Built it with Gateron greens, not sure if I should lube them. Thoughts?
Don't lube clicky switches
Yes! It is a masterkeys pbt s. I'm convinced its the best board under $100 period and it comes in at $70, not $99. It's weighted down, has a awesome top coat of plastic. Aftermarket aluminum cases are starting to come out. Only downside in my mind are the costar stabilizers, i much, much prefer cherry. The keycaps are from kbdfans on aliexpress. I got them to match my mouse but they're totally different shades of gray which sucks. You made a good choice! Mine has mx silver, which I love as far as linears go(already have tactile and a clicky board).
I'm going to get one here soon and go with lubed ergoclears on it unless I fall for the topreh meme at the last second(which is likely). Been a long term fan of 75% boards like the noppoo choc mini. That was my first board back in 2013. I'm glad they're having so much success, I would love to see more boards with the noppoo nano/choc mini layout. You should post pics of it user
It doesn't have costar stabs tho.
Yes, check etsy
it has costar style stabs, they're certainly not the cherry style. They're just a pain when you swap the caps which i do all the time.
Why the fuck so many keyboard parts gold plated, get the fuck outta here with that tacky-ass conspicuous consumption bullshit
Budget: 200 or less
Preferred switch: light ones i guess? I've been using a laptop all my life
Form factor: dont use the numpad
Backlight: dont need lights

Blue alps are just shit
if I get a coolmaster keymaster can I just buy any ol' pbt off the internet and it'll be fine or do I have to spend a bit more on a certain brand?
CM do standard key layouts so any PBT will be fine
EnjoyPBT recommended tho
Please help me out Sup Forums
>budget: 150$ USD
>switch: something heavier, maybe greens or whites
>ff: full size
Ducky One
hi hey
just wanted to share this

>Budget

Full-size
>Backlight
Would be nice, but it's definitely not a priority
>Current keyboard
Monoprice Cherry MX Black that's getting kind of worn out. Ideally, I'd like to get another keyboard with a built in wrist rest. I'd be interested in trying new keys, particularly clicky ones.
Are there any websites which do international shipping to the UK? I want a pok3r but they're fucking £160 here
Model M
...
Matias or new Datacomp ALPS
a model m off ebay or unicomp is also an option

candykeys
Hey guys. You know anything decent with those requirement ?
Budget: under 200$
Location: Canada
Brown switch
ANSI layout
Backlight
80% form factor
WIreless
tada68 pro
Any recommendation under $70 not from ebay/amazon?
>tada68 pro
Thats 60%
Nice keyboard tho.
>80% form factor
I guess miami keycaps look best with a white case?
>Thats 60%
no it isn't
i bet you don't even think that keyboard has f keys
No, they look best in a black trash bag
You're entitled to your opinion user
gaygay gay
I want dedicated F keys
nice try pedant but this is a discussion of form factor, not capabilities, so your argument is irrelevant.
massdrop in
I was curious, I knew it wouldn't be like old blue and is just a rip off of the cherry color scheme, but the weighting is nice
still better than anything cherry has put out
It can have dedicated f keys tho
How ?
Those are simplified alps so no they aren't the old SKCM blues. SKCM blues are shit anyway.
>can't tell the difference between 60% and 65%
>calls others a pedant for discussing something he wants to discuss
are you a brainlet?
>implying im
I'm just an user annoyed by this pednatic argument of "oh but you can reprogram the keys to whatever you want" while ignoring what they actually want is a larger keyboard.
How does it feel to be dumber then a keyboard?
can you read
I said I knew that
I was just curious how the would compare to matias as I know they are also slightly improved simplified ALPS switches but with better weighting (in my opinion)
I still prefer my complicated whites but still wish for slightly lighter tactility, bur I'm not willing to pay out the ass
another row?
All alps are shit
name of keyboard ?
no bully us
yeah, and what's better?
Pretty much.
Buckling springs even the shitty membrane version (Model M), and topre.
red scarf 3
i think
i need to rip it apart since i spilled beer all over it
acceptable answer
if you had said cherry I would laugh at you
I prefer ALPS though
Bought a Kingston HyperX Alloy Elite mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX red switches on sale on Black Friday. Did I do good? Other choices had RGB lighting but I preferred the metal build and decent non-gaymen font on the keycaps to that.
>>>>gaymer keyboard
almost all modern mechanical keyboards come from the same factory so it really doesn't matter
no because you overpayed when you could have bought chink switches for cheaper that are as good
i was thinking on building a 30% keyboard but i don't see the point on striping down the bottom row and making it harder to user those two fat fingerinos
>i was thinking on building a 30% keyboard
Why
because so i can fit my sunglasses and maybe a gaming controller in my little handbag
