Bare in minds there are USB 1 2 3 sticks so blindly saying a USB stick is faster is misleading. Some USB 2 could be faster then SD and most USB 3 are faster but only if the receiving interface can utilize the speed.

You can! But most people prefer to deal with one portable device rather than two.
MicroSD weren't very closely specified for a long while now, so it's actually not immediately obvious for a pleb if they need a 50 or 150MB/s capable reader for it to work at full speed.
They often cost more as component system. They sometimes have parts sticking out or the microSD could maybe fall out during transport. And so on.
But you can. Works fine.
Basically wrong, you can get the same speeds as on USB sticks, and it has the same kind of endurance.
Only SSD tend to be constructed like slightly different beasts.

One of the big problems is that their specifications are numerous and confusing as hell to most consumers, and that you definitely aren't getting anything very fast if you just blindly buy a cheap one.

There are a few speed tests there, but more importantly, you should look at the listing of all the fucking speed classes (V and X and U and normal numbered classes) and so on that vendors use.

Companies do this to give you the illusion of choice, the only really difference is controller quality.

Proper cameras don't use them.
microSD cards really are too small to handle regularly.
They are fine if you put them in a phone and not change then for months or even years.
But if you use multiple cards and dedicated readers swapping them during and after shoots would be annoying.

You should put as many books as possible on a microSD card, like a whole library of congress archive and shove it up your ass so you can have the whole sum of human knowledge in your ass.

Its not so much about benefit when looking at one device that is SD compatible like a camera if that is the only device that will use the card. Its just that sd vs micro sd isn't a big issue for cameras in that micoSDs can be used in a camera with an adapter. Then the same card can come out of the adapter and go into a microSD device too. For example I have a couple cameras that are SD, a laptop with an SD adapter and phones that are microSD. I genrally buy microSDs now as I can use them in any of those devices and can put them in different SD and microSD USB adapters that I have. As the microSD cards get cheaper and bigger I upgrade my go to cards in my best camera and shift the collection around to have bigger cards for other cameras, phones ect. So in that respect from an average consumer perspective the microSD has a benefit as it can be used in any SD or microSD device or USB adapters where that standard SD is incompatible.

This is only a problem if the card reader being used has a shitty controller. I regularly move literally thousands of picture files off of SD and microSD cards and have only ever had problems with defective readers/usb adapters.
Because it's slow as shit and runs out of write cycles within a couple of years of daily use
