My gaming PC is due for a reformat. I currently have Windows 7. Is grabbing 10 worth it? Is there any benefit to it if all I do is play games on Steam, go on Sup Forums, and watch porn?

install ubuntu you stupid fuck

Every single day. Someone makes one of these fucking stupid threads instead of going to /sqt/ or using fucking Google. Read the archive

might be a little better with games, nothing else.

Get Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB if you think you need an upgrade or need DX12. Windows 10 is riddled with spyware/bloat/botnet, and the LTSB edition comes without any of that.

But on another notice stop watching porn, its not healthy.

Not really.
There are the exclusive UWP games, but they run like dogshit.

linux with KVM, use pci passthrough

i literally had no idea about LTSB. pretty cool concept, wish it were easier to get.

>But on another notice stop watching porn, its not healthy.

lol.

so if Linux isn't an option and neither is 10 Enterprise LTSB, it looks like 7 still takes the cake.

>no one mentioned Linux not being an option
>Linux must not be an option
More games work on it than you'd think, for everything else there's

10 is a shithole. Not like you'll listen if you don't know that already though.

what's the consensus on where to move to post January 2020 when Microsoft drops 7 completely and no longer supplies security updates, assuming a Microsoft OS is a requirement?

And here is a video of the supposed anti-telemetry tools failing to do anything. But yeah, Microsoft disabled telemetry just for you.

Nowhere? You do realize that you can't possibly know which security updates actually do anything or if you are indeed installing security updates? It's a proprietary operating system after all.

>wish it were easier to get
are you mentally handicapped?

No how the fuck do i get it?

so i am setting up my new 10 desktop, i've turned off all privacy setting and stuff, didn't give it my phone number, how do i keep this thing private? am I just fucked right off the bat? Especially if i put steam on it with my card info and stuff.

Any tips on setting up a new windows 10 computer is greatly appreciated

Keep 7. stay away from 8. use 10 if you must

I'd say get 10, there's no notable usability or feature differences from 7, it seemingly performs better due to less legacy shit, and you'll stop giving a shit after the first week regardless.

Use what works for you.

>PC is due for a reformat

this really hasn't necessary been for practically a decade. a windows 7 install can be maintained indefinitely if you aren't a total idiot. why are you wanting to format?

this is true, but i'm a fairly disorganized person and really enjoy starting "fresh" with a newly installed OS and no clutter.
